Second day of a bike tour along EuroVelo 15 route, on the border between Germany and Switzerland.

May-June 2025

Welcome to Middle-Aged Miles
on our Eurovelo 15 journey. After a great night’s rest in Jestetten
we set off for another scenic ride. We had a really nice weather all
day. It was warm and sunny skies. We started with a 3 km descent and now we’re
crossing the bridge to cycle on the Swiss side. Such a nice place for a break. You could
even swim here. It’s very clear water. And another bridge crossing.
This time the river Thur. As we were riding, we saw an asparagus
field on the right. A bit further down, there was even a box where you could buy some. Here, one of the highlights. We’re passing through
Eglisau and there’s a massive railway bridge over the river. The cycle path goes right
underneath it. It’s a pretty cool sight. The weird thingy on the left is part
of the Excavator Museum in Fisibach. We also made a stop in Bad Zurzach to check out
the park. We were lucky enough to catch the Open Turnier Doublette in Dogern, a
Petangue tournament that brought together locals and visitors for some friendly
competition. It was quite fun to watch. [German] Steht Kamera in betrieb? [German] Ja.
[Swiss] Oh, Grüezi. [French] Bonjour By around 3:00 p.m., we arrived
at Rhine Camping Waldshut. The campsite is right on the riverbank
with clean facilities and some shade, though it was already getting busy and filled
up even more by the evening. We had enough time to wander into Waldshut for a look around
the town before settling in for the night. So that’s day two done. 53 km of sunshine,
stunning river views, and a peaceful campsite to rest at. Tomorrow we’ll continue our journey
and the big question is will we reach Basel? The forecast for the evening of day three is calling
for storms and rain. So we’ll need to plan ahead. Thanks for watching.
