Back again at the 2025 Tour to France. And this time we’re lucky enough to have the bike of the potential winner of this year’s race, Talipaga. It is of course the Kono V5 RS. This is Karago’s lightweight kind of arrow allrounder race bike. Pagata will probably race this in the mountain stages perhaps on the mountain TT on stage 13. We’ve got a little bit of behind the scenes stuff to show you on that. Now, the V5 RS is claimed to be the lightest disc brake road bike that Konago has ever produced, coming in for a frame set kit. I have it on my notes here, including the derailia hanger at 1,027 g, which is 146 g less than the V4 RS, which Pagata was riding last year. But first, a big thanks to Abbus for Despite the reduction in weight though, Cargo says this new bike is more aero than the last one, coming in around 9 W more aerodynamic at 45 kph. Now, those things are mainly due to the kind of rep-profiling of the various tubes on the bikes, including got the kind of narrow fork here, slight tweaks to the way the head tube integrates with the down tube, and as well the rear of the bike also seems to be a lot slimmer. The seat tube and the seat post, the seat stays in particular are really, really slim. Now, that obviously contributes to just a lower overall drag. Now, of course, Bugatta as the world road race champion does have his own very special world champions paint job. You can see obviously the rainbow colors here on the fork legs and then across the whole bike. Otherwise, it’s all white just like the jersey. In terms of wheels now, these appear to be brand new. These are the new Envy SES 4.5 Pro wheels according there. And they’ve got a really trick set of silver hubs and silver spokes, which you really don’t see too often these days. They remind me quite a lot of the old uh head stinger wheels that Team Sky used in the early days. Now, these wheels are wrapped with uh 28 Continental GP5000 TTTR tires. Now, that’s kind of interesting because Continental has just launched a brand new tire that it developed exclusively for UAE Emirates XRG at the tour to France, the archetype, which we’ve reviewed, and you can check out our review on bikear.com if you haven’t already. But it looks like Pagata is going to opt for the even lighter, potentially even faster time trial specific version of the GP5000 for this year’s tour. Continuing with the Envy theme up front, Pagatcha has the uh Envy SCES Aero integrated handlebar, which looks pretty narrow. I think it’s probably going to be as narrow as it was in previous years as the new UCI regulations haven’t come in yet, but they will next year, of course. And then they have the Shimano Dura Ace Di2 R9200 group set complete with custom carbon tie chain rings with Pagatcha’s own little logo engraved on the chain rings themselves. And then elsewhere there’s a whole load of little um details that Pagata only gets himself. We’ve got a nice little direct mount derailia hanger at the back in a bright red color. And he Pagata has his own little mini Hulk sticker on the handlebar up here, but he also has that laser etched into his bottom bracket shell. Even here at the Tour to France, not many people can say that they’ve got a custom bottom bracket. So, in terms of gearing, Ted Pagato is running 55 40 to chain rings up front paired with an 11 to 34 cassette out back. And he is still using 165 mm cranks. Now, the team is sponsored by Absolute Black in terms of its chain lube. And this one is running a wax chain, although it looks a little bit dirty. So, I’m assuming this is Ted’s training bike. And I’m sure it’ll get a thorough cleaning before it ever takes to the start line of a race. Topping off the seat post, he’s got a 3D printed Physique saddle. I believe this one, in fact, is actually one of Physique’s custom models, meaning it’s been tailored especially to Talia Pagatcha’s extra special behind. And then at the bottom of the seat post, it’s got a extra special tiny weight weeny race number holder just to save those final few grams. And let’s find out how much this bike actually weighs. All right, so in terms of overall weight, now we are expecting this to be light given Karago says it’s the lightest frame they’ve ever produced. And on the scales, [Music] 6.765. So that is less than the UCI minimum bike weight limit of 6.8 kilos. They might have to add a little bit of weight to it somehow. All right. So in terms of measurements, Ted Pagatcha’s bars are coming in at yeah 36 cm center to center at the brake hood. That’s pretty much what he was running last year. Those measure just under 29 cm between the hoods. And then the stem length is looks like a 13 mm stem. Okay, so these are 28C GP5000 TTTR tires, but they actually look quite wide on these rims. So let’s see how much they really measure. And we have got yeah just just around 31.3 maybe 31 and a half on the rear 31.3 if we go tight. Now that is slightly narrower than the tires we saw on his bike last year but I believe then he was using GP5000 STRs in a 30C size and then on the front yeah 31.2 two. So, that is slightly narrower than last year, but I believe these rims are slightly more narrow internally so that they can use the 28C tires and they don’t have to use 30s. So, a couple more little details that I’ve just noticed whilst we were weighing and measuring this bike. It’s got this nice little carbon tie carbon fiber headset cap and bolt there, as well as these very nice, very, very thin Elite Legero carbon bottle cages. So, it basically looks like every little gram on this bike has been saved. And that’s obviously how it’s going under the UCI weight limit, even with these deep midsection wheels. Now, one of the big stages at this year’s race is, of course, the mountain time trial on stage 13. And of course, we’re all wondering how the teams are going to prepare for that stage. And what we did see, not on this bike, but in one of the team trucks, is a version of this bike set up with a set of clip-on carbon arrow bar extensions. Now, it is mostly uphill this time trial, but there is a few kilometers of flat road just leading into the climb. And I guess the team thinks that that could be worth carrying that bit of extra weight up the hill just for the ability to save a few watts on the flatter sections at the start of the stage. There you have it, Ted Pagatcha’s V5RS. Stay tuned for more content from the 2025 Tour to France. And of course, don’t forget to leave us a comment and let us know what you think of this bike.

The missing 35 grams are for the race tag on the back of the seat😂
Next time try to get the video in focus.
Jonas bike is illegal, too, it's not on the market yet.
Dura Ace cover on the Cybrei/SRM cranks or are those ones just for the TTs? Otherwise yeah, Pogacar gets every normal bolt replaced with a lighter titanium one, the Carbon-Ti chainrings, comstum BB and everything to get it as light as possible, no surprise.
UCI weight limit is "6.8" kgs, 6.765 when rounded to 1 decimal place is 6.8 #simples
Wow
Beautiful!! Even if it may not have Ernesto Colnago’s signature, v5rs is the definitive Colnago of this generation.
New uci regulation is so weird
Meh, is the word I'd use to describe it. The colnago has never done it for me personally. A very boring bike . But if you're being paid millions use it i suppose it will do
You've been doing a great job on this and the Visma TDF bike checks. Thank you!
Are you gonne do the crazy new aero factor bike too?
28 is the new 30mm
lol the richard mille sticker
what i dont get personally is this frame is what, 150g lighter than the v4rs according to colnago and as someone whom owns a v4rs, i have a pair of enve ses 2.3 wheels and with bottle cages, computer mount, bike computer (wahoo roam v2) and dura ace groupset (only exception is crankset, using rotor instead of dura ace so saving another ~100g) my bike weighs 7.25kg at the moment. if I take off the roam v2, that brings it down to 7.15kg, take out 150g for the v5rs and that brings the weight down to 7.00kg. carbon-ti chainrings are the same weight as dura ace chainrings or really anything else (they really are a more 'bling' purchase) so this unaccounted for almost 250g difference between what tadej's bike weighs and the 7kg number from the math above I don't know where that is coming from. I have pirelli p zero race tlr tires with 70ml of sealant in each tire, so maybe i have some weight additionally there but even then I don't believe that would be a 250g difference. My wheels are lighter than the ses 4.5 pro and the colnago 1 piece cockpit is lighter than enve's so i am wondering if colnago made a specific carbon lay-up frame just for tadej that is not the same as the comercially available bikes because the math just does not add up, that is the only thing that would make sense to me.
what adidas shoes ur wearing brother?
if this is an illegal bike how is he allowed to ride it then?
The measurements of his handlebars etc are totally irrelevant to any other rider except T.P . Pointless .
Pure filth! 😉
This Colnago V5rs is the brand's most accomplished all-round competition bike.
We are looking at how to pronounce the name of this famous luxury Swiss watchmaker and car racing team …."Richard Mille".
Dopaçar
What a pity they don't use Campagnolo!😅
Simon, your hair has gone full Dora the Explorer
I can't wait for the short crank trend to be over.
Nice bike, I wouldn't mind one myself, however, on his handlebars I noticed Richard Mille sponsorship and I would definitely prefer a Richard Mille watch but the bike would be a lot less expensive!. 👍😎⌚
Do you know if he’s using regular length spindles on his pedals or the +4mm ones?
