A day of demonstrations by lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, and queer people in general. On this day, people demonstrate for the rights of these groups and against discrimination and exclusion. The largest CSD parades in German-speaking countries take place in Berlin and Cologne.
The term Christopher Street Day is only used in Germany, parts of Austria, and Switzerland. In English-speaking and Romansh countries, people usually refer to these as Gay Pride and Pride Parades, while in Slavic-speaking countries, these commemoration days are usually called Equality Parades, such as the Parada Równości in Poland.
