Why did I agree to this?
Been dropped off at Wimbledon to queue. I don’t even like tennis. But this is our first bucket list adventure and I thought I’d give it a go. And this is not what I expected. 1,316th in the queue for the next day.
It’s like a silent disco music festival. You don’t have to camp out. You can just enter the ballot in September to skip the cues for next year. As you can tell, I wasn’t enjoying this so far as I still queued for 5 hours the next day. They even had inq entertainment like you’re on a long haul flight. But when I finally snagged a ticket, something switched. It was like stressful magic.
I finally got my ticket and now it’s getting good. Look at this. Yeah.
In the meantime, Jimmy and Rob were pedaling away towards Dover. Back in Wimbledon, I went all in and took our mortgage on some strawberries and cream and some shampers and headed to the court where I found two women with names I couldn’t pronounce. But it didn’t matter. It was straight up coliseum energy. Crowd roaring, sunblazing, tension thick. The underdog stepped in like a warrior and ran the show. I was all in. Do I now like tennis? No. Would I do this again? In a heartbeat. Highly recommended and an experience I’ll not be forgetting anytime soon. I also don’t think Rob will forget this day. He had his first fall of the trip. After a bit of a drive for me and more cycling for them, we all met at Dover and boarded the ferry Dunkirkbound. See you on the other side of
