The Tour to France is the biggest sporting event in the world where 184 of the greatest cyclists go head-to-head over 21 stages covering a massive 3,320 km to fight for victory and that prestigious yellow jersey. But how much do the crazy bikes they race on actually cost? Well, we’re going to rank the Tour to France bikes from cheapest to most expensive. Now, in this video, I’m going to focus purely on road bikes and teams that have got multiple options. Well, we’re going to look at the Aero version. Now, I’ve tried my best to account for all of the different variations in the setups and the extra components that might be different on the race bikes compared to the production models and I’ve added those costs on top. Now, you can watch this year’s Tour to France on Discovery Plus and Max. Right, let’s cut to the chase. We’re going to start with a team in 23rd place, which is Interar wanted. Their bike being the Cube Lightning C68X at a price of $8,499. This bike fitted with Shimano Dura Ace and Newman wheels, which means the starting point for this year is actually £500 more than the cheapest brand new car that you can buy in the UK right now. Although that said, the brand new car that you can buy couldn’t actually complete one stage of the tour to France. Anyway, in 22nd place, we’ve got Bahrain Victorious, but their bike price at £8,500. This is the Marida Reactor. It’s built up using Shimano Dur Ace 12speed and Vision wheels, but the Teamspare bike actually uses the slightly newer Metron RSS wheel set, which does bump up the price ever so slightly, but not enough to move it on its position on the list. In 21st place, we have team picnic postnel with the Lapiierre Zelius DRS. £9,442 including Shimano power meter, Jura Ace, and Ursus wheels. Now, another £37 on top of that takes you up to 20th place, which is a tie between the Alpasin and Moistar team. Now, the only reason for that is because both teams are essentially using the same bike with different wheels and a different group set. Typically though, you would find that the Stram group set was more expensive than the Shimano one, but here they’re both at an equal price of £9,749. That is the Aero CFR. The Alpasin team using Shimano Jura Ace and Jura Ace wheels and the Mauiar team using Stram red and Zip 454 NSWS. In 18th place, we have the Catholon Agitu La Mondial with the brand new Van Risel RCRF. £10,000 this bike is at. It’s built up with Shimano Dura Ace and fitted with DT Swiss wheels with Swiss side working a lot on the brand trying to improve and optimize the aerodynamics. 17th place Lotto team with a proper team replica of the Orbea Orca Arero which is available on the AA website which I think is actually really really neat. £10,999 for this bike. It’s built up with Shimano Dura Ace. It’s got the FSA power box power meter and typically the team are using Orbea’s own brand OCO wheels although you can sometimes see them using zip wheels but not exclusively. 16th place goes to the XDS Astana team. Their bike being the XLAB AD9 at £11,000. But this is a bike I’m not very familiar with and I suspect a lot of people will feel exactly the same. But earlier this year, Connor actually took a closer look at the bike and we have a video covering all of the different details. The bike’s built up with Shimano Dura Ace and is running Vision wheels. This bike was actually kind of tricky to price up because it’s not listed for sale anywhere built as a complete bike. So, what I had to do was price up the frame set and then add all the different components on. And the frame set itself is actually relatively cheap, listed at around the £2,500 marker. But seeing as it’s a lesser known brand, you can kind of expect the price point to be slightly lower. 15th place we have the TUDA pro cycling team with a BMC team Machine R. This is built up with Stram red and DT Swiss wheels at a price of £11,100. Moving down into 14th place, Israel Premier Techch with a factor Austro VAM. £11,500 gets you this bike built up with Shimano Dura Ace and Black Ink wheels and the FSA Power Box crank set. Now, this is the point I want to highlight. This doesn’t include the crazy arrow bike, which we’ve recently seen a couple of the team riders use it. I haven’t included this because, as you can guess, well, the bike’s not commercially available. There’s no prices for it, and the whole team isn’t using it. So, that excludes it from my list. Joint 13th place, we have a two-way tie between Bora Red Bull Handser and Group Armor FDA. The Bora team using the Specialized Tarmac SL8 at £12,000 built up with Stram red reval wheels. And then the Group Armor FDJ bike is the Villia Falante SLR built up with Shimano and using Mik wheels. 11th place goes the Arca B&B hotels team with a Bianke ultra RC team running Shimano Dura Ace and another team using Vision Wheels as well. 10th place goes to team JO Alula. Amazing. The giant propel bike which comes in at a price of £12,499 using Shimano Dura Ace including the power meter and the Kex wheels are fitted to this bike. In fact, the paint job of this bike is potentially one of my favorites from this year. Ninth place is a two-way tie between Little Trek and Team Visma Lisa bike. The Little Trek team coming in at £12,500 using the Trek Madone SLR9 with Stram Red Bontre wheels. The Visma Lisa bike team typically riding the Sevel S5. This bike again fitted with Stram red including a power meter and the team are exclusively running reserve wheels. Seventh place goes to Uno X mobility team. Then riding the Ridley Noah fast bike, a price of £12,900. Here we’ve got a Shimano Dura Ace 12speed group set, the FSA power box power meter crank and DT Swiss wheels. Also, it’s worth mentioning on this bike typically the team are running ceramic speed pulley wheels and ceramic speed products. So, I’ve added this into the price and therefore that has bumped them up this list a couple of places. Sixth place goes to the Sedal Quickstep team. The bike being the Specialized SL8 at £13,000. Interestingly, this one has got Shimano Dura Ace and Roval wheels. Now, it’s worth noting here that while fundamentally this is just a different group set and wheels to what the Red Bull Bora team have, I’ve had to add a power meter into the price, which has then bumped it higher up the list. Fifth place is again another two-way tie between Coffodus and EF Education Easy Post. Coffus team riding the Look 795 Blade RS. Price of this bike £13,100 and the first bike in our list to be built up using the latest Campolo Super Record 13-speed and also utilizing the Campanolo wheels as well. EF Education of course running the Canidal Super 6 Evo Lab 71 edition. Here we’ve got Shimano Durace 12speed group set FSA power box crank vision wheels and also Vision handlebars which differ to a lot of the production bikes that are out there which means we are now into the podium places and in at third place I also want to highlight before we get on to the podium there’s less than 100 difference between the top three bikes. So let’s face it there is argument that you could change these positions round relatively easily. So, third place, Total Energies team with £13,500. This bike being the Envy Melee built up with Shimano Dura Ace and the full suite of Envy components. We got Envy wheels, Envy handlebars, basically Envy everything, including a Shimano Dura Ace power meter. Second place goes to the Inos Grenaders with the Pinerella Dogma F. this bike built up with Shimano DX12 speed typically running the Shimano C50 wheels, but we are starting to see some of the team use the Princes and Carbon Works wheels, although I believe they’re not an official wheel supplier to the team. That means in at first place for the most expensive tour to France bike of 2025, you have the UAE Team Emirates XRG team with the Kono Y1 RS. Now, this comes as no surprise to me. It’s a super premium bike and it comes in at a price of £13,600 including the power meter. It’s built up with Shimano Dura Ace throughout and features the latest Envy wheels. So, there you go. That is 23 to France team bikes ranked cheapest to most expensive. What I have found quite interesting though is compared to when I made this video previously a couple of years ago, the cheapest to France bikes have got considerably more expensive and the most expensive to France bikes strangely have got ever so slightly cheaper, but by no means anywhere near as much of a difference at the top end compared to the lower end. What I do want to know though is out of all of these bikes, which is your favorite? And if you had an unlimited budget, what bike would you choose? Would you go all out and blow the budget on one of the most expensive bikes? Or would you play it a little bit smarter and have one of the cheaper bikes and then pocket the spare cash? Let me know in the comments section down below. And as always, if you want to see more cool bike techreated videos and help support this channel, subscribe to GCN Tech and turn on your notifications. Right, we’re out of it. See you.

You've got an unlimited budget – go on, tell us which bike you're going for! 🤩👇
Could you do the same with TT bikes?
My choice of bikes
1st Pinarello
2nd Colnago V5RS
3rd Bianchi
4th Willier
5th Look
Last place S-Works 😂🤮
If i had a more limited budget, I would choose the new SRAM Force groupset. That makes all bikes currently with SRAM Red more affordable.
You cannot find X-LAB bikes in your country because it’s made by XDS, which is a Chinese brand as well as an OEM manufacturer for many well known brands in your country😂. It sells at CNY ¥51980 (£5000) tax included right now.
XDS is one of the biggest bike manufacturers in the world but the west knows nothing about. The sponsorship is made solely to advertise its product quality to Chinese consumers and the west brands(so they might also find XDS as an manufacturer).😏
You might ask gemini "How many xds bikes are produced annually" then compare it to Giant(the biggest manufacturer) to verify.😂
Hands down Look 795 with Campy.
I’ll take a cube
I'll be sticking with my 7kg CAAD 10 for all round long days and big endurance events and my 6kg gen 2 SuperSixEvo for the hills. Combined probably cost less than half the price of the cheapest on the list.
they should allow me to attend the TdF to set a new benchmark for the cheapest bike
How much will they cost after the Tour de France?
wilier filante with an ultegra groupset for 12,000 is highway robbery
Overpriced
Before I buy one I like to test them all 🙂
1st Colnago V4Rs
2nd Willier Triestina Filante
3rd Look 795 Blade RS – Campagnolo
Don’t forget you need a team car following you around on your bike ride with replacement rides and coach.
Not the biggest sporting event in the world. Call it “one of” or the biggest cycling event please, don’t be so arrogant
I'll take the Van Rysel just because I have a Triban 🙂
Cofidis bikes should soon be available cheaply
I would do the Colnago V5RS. Or the blue RedBull Tarmac.
Ah that explains why Pog is so fast. He simply rides the most expensive bije. /s
Thanks for the video
My Choice Look and Pinarello
Cervelo or Colnago all day
Will choose the CUBE all day 😌
I`de take one of each😂 but if I had to pick, I’m guessing the giant propel or the binachi😊
