the best rivalries in Twitter France history. Pagatcha saying, “Maybe heard you uh you’re better than ever. But we’ll see how uh how that stands up in today’s crosswind nervous stage from Liil Metropol back around in a loop to the city. Three category 4 climbs. Not really any serious climbs. The serious thing today was the crosswinds. We got crosswinds almost all day. It’s not that exposed for a lot of them. But at 25ks to go, you had to be in position. Breakaway fight was non-existent though. Roo Le Arlel Thomas Versier. They’re the first five guys that jump. They’re the first five guys to get in. This is the pelaton straight after they drop the flag because that break literally just goes Albson and little trek with Quinn Simmons and Silven Dillier start pacing and everyone just immediately went for a P break. So everybody knew that it the break wasn’t going to win. It’s the first stage of the tour. The sprinters teams want the yellow jersey. The GC teams like Civicov here and Camponauts for Vizman want to keep their riders safe cuz you can crash. You go through a village Filippo Ghana tour to France is over before it’s even halfway through the first stage. Stefan Bisiger tour to France over two abandons already. Tiboas crashed. He had confus contusions and he’s got some suitable stages coming up. Look at the the wind. Florian Lipovitz has a mechanical. So having a mechanical in this sprint stage wasn’t some non stressful thing where you just come back in the car’s no problem. UAE started to push with 110 gates to go. They tried to create splits. Pagatch is on the front here with Vizmer in his wheel and yeah it was too far from the finish. The wind wasn’t strong enough but it was nervous and then at the intermediate sprint with about 100ks left. Trek at the jump on Albuson and Vanderpool. Milan launches. Cockard kind of blocks Philipsson coming across to Milan’s wheel. Milan takes the maximum 20 points. Philipsson only 13 in fourth. Berser goes in the breakaway a second time and the four teams that were controlling were happy for that to happen. But Tomar who joined him, his bike bucks at the KM sprint and Vers’s like, “What the hell, man?” He’s like, “I don’t know. I don’t know.” Simon Yates was having one of those days, too. Has a mechanical at 75ks to go. Spends a good 15, 20 minutes coming back whilst there’s a lot of pacing in the Pelon. Vingard himself on the last categorized climb goes over the top in first wheel. And this whole stage was just nervousness. Position, position, position. Quick Alperson. They swing over. 30ks to go. They have the troops in position. They take the left hand side of the road with the Stringer, Kaden Groves, Silvan Dillier, Yonas Rickard, Yasper Philipsson, Vanderpool. They got the strongest train here maybe. And here’s a really, really wide road. But already without even a pace on the front, there’s semi-splits or gaps occurring behind. and you had to be in position there. Vingard moves himself up some road furniture here. A divider makes them go narrower. It opens up again and then there’s more dividers and one two teams go on the wrong side of that. Paga moves himself up into position with the wind coming from their their left shoulder at 60ks an hour. Enrich M right where he needs to be. But this is the mystery of today. Treker here with five here with five on the left hand side and I think the riders on the left but it doesn’t make sense cuz the riders go left here through the road furniture but Unoxa are first and they make it but Trek lose loads of wheels through the corner and then when they’re shuffled back they had to re-enter at like P50 P60 and then Eduardo Afini through this corner more road furniture. You see it puts it in a line through the right hand turn. It’s then going to be a hard cross tailwind uh as they exit this corner. Everybody knew you had to be in good position here and Vingergard Nefini put on the hammer with Trentin Enri and there’s going to be splits when you’re going 60ks an hour with 30k an hour cross wins. I mean credit to Mastard Oliver and Garia Cortina did a fantastic job. Vingard obviously wanting to be aggressive. Trentin always right where he needs to be with Mario Mahhoffer and yeah there were splits big big splits. Pagatra of course makes it with Wellins. Jorgensson’s there and there’s gaps all over the place and the whole little Trek sprint train but for Yasper Sturan misses this split as well as Red Bull Bora Hansrow don’t have a single rider in front. They’re chasing furiously here. The problem for them is over half the teams in the Pelaton more or less are in front. A lot of the strongest rulers are in front and everyone in front pretty much is committed to pulling except for Yasper Sturan. Vandenberg and Asgrren sprint stage they can go for the sprint. Kevin Vocal is pulling through GC position. Lovely. Vanderpool he seen that Tim Malier is in group two with Ram Coney getting run off the road. So Albertson basically know if they can pull they got five guys in this group. They got Philipsson in here. If they can make this go to the finish he will likely win this sprint. No Jonathan Milan, no uh Tim Mer. Yes, they got to be wary of Binnie and Saur and Varnish Gold, but they’ll take those odds, especially they still got a lead out here and behind Bahrain chased for a little bit. Alison, I think Groves lost the wheel of Rickart and Vanderpool to make others work for a bit. But the curious thing at this stage is Quickstep I don’t think chased with the whole team. They have Valentine Parantra. He’s like 50 kilos chasing on the front here. That doesn’t really help matters. The cohesion in front stops because Albertson don’t care if they win by 5 seconds or they win by a minute. They don’t care about GC. They want to win the stage. Wellins through 5ks to go starts pacing. But the cohesion wasn’t that good in front. And here you see a crash. In fact, luckily they changed the rules or they changed it from 3ks to 5ks to go. So Okconor he goes down. Kaden Grove somehow saves it just behind Vandenberg. So Vandenberg loses the chance to sprint. But yet Bora didn’t keep chasing with Mayos and Van Pop. They used them to sprint behind 40 seconds back for place 40. Very, very strange. Unoex get all out of sorts. They had Abrahamson doing the lead out. They just went all in on the Vish Gold sprint. Fredim is saying to Abraham Hamson, “Let’s move up. Let’s not go on to Philipsson’s wheel.” He’s having a long conversation with Vish Gold. Eventually, Vish Gold gets like boxed by five guys around him. So, probably he should have made Fred Heim do the lead out. Kaden Groves launches Philips on the left hand side. Aman jumped a bit too early on the right hand side. And with Philips getting this sort of lead out with no Johnny Milan, no Tim Mer even though Binnie tried to jump him on the inside. Philips wins this by a couple of bike lengths comfortably. Masterclass from Albson in the cross wins having the team together and then finishing off the job of the lead philanim variant Russo Penway Jorgensson Mhoff Sam Wson. Here’s what the 10 time stage winner had to say after the race. Yes, for Phillips you had already won nine stages on the tour fronts but this one this number 10 is really special. Yeah, it’s really amazing. Uh the 10th victory is uh something never will for forget and just the team performance um yeah it’s incredible. I think uh we were there all day. All day uh was very nervous but we know yeah today it it just has to be uh yeah all day and we have to be in the front and yeah we uh we were there in the split. The team did amazing and yeah in the end we just could uh use our strength uh be there and um finish it off.
In terms of GC, Philipsson of course goes into the yellow jersey. Something not easy for sprinters to do in modern cycling with often very hilly stages at the start of grand tours. We do have one of those hilly stages tomorrow. It’ll be nervous. Rain predicted. 40 seconds lost by Rogish Shremco. Liberitz and co today. I think there’ll be more time losses tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed the video. See you then. Chowo chow.

Hire someone who can pronounce Vingegaard, 2x TDF champion's name correctly.
jasper is a turd
Evenepoel and Roglič need to return their salaries for today's race, back to their teams. Really? First day and you guys are already :49 back? Did you know that today was stage 1 of the TDF?
Oh man, it's really good the UCI brought in those new rules otherwise someone coulda got hurt today!
What about Wout? Where was he?
6:11 Damn that crash for O'Connor looked rough. Hope he's fine
You can always get behind a split but that Bora, Soudal and Trek combined loose 40 seconds is ridiculous.
groves with the double endo to dodge the crash. incredible riding skill.
When does Roglic crash? I'm guessing by stage 4 and I'm guessing he has 3 crashes this tour. Roglic has the worst situational awareness and bike handling skills I have ever seen.
Got to give props to Biniam Girmay – only Intermarche rider in the first group.
everyone has white socks and shoes
Positive – good hard stage with lot's of action. Positive – Philipsen was able to win from a lead out from VdP without VdP having to body check anyone.
Negative – I have Milan on my fantasy team as my sprinter.
Negative – Ganna out and it looked like O'Connor hit the ground hard.
When Jonas was pinning it as they were making the spit towards the end, I believe he was doing that knowing the Rogic and Remco had missed the split, he was not riding against Pog at that moment.
ngl I had the shits after chugging 150g of maurten in one hour while watching the tour from my sofa
I really like how MVdP pulled off after his part of the lead out. Not getting in the way, not slowing down and blocking, just a gradual drift to the other side before easing up.
In that KOM sprint Thomas had already intentionally nearly pushed Vercher into the barriers. Vercher was definitely just angry about Thomas’ behavior in general, not just the crash.
Quick Step and Bora not pulling to get back to the front group – I guess they know they are competing for 3rd place in GC.
Props to Jasper for going straight!
REMCO EVENFOOL…. had only one job to do ! when u dont have leg at least have the brain.
Amazing bike-control by C.Groves 👌😉
Some good performances by MVDP, Visma and poggy. I have absolutely no clue how much energy drinks Bora had…but hey. great that you stopped pulling and sprinted with a leadout for P40…Insane…
Simon Yates not the slightest issue at the giro I think and first stage here : an ordeal
carbon frames for you, when it goes they go without warning due to no flex, weird i know but iv had more weird crashes on carbon frames than aluminium, titanium or steel frames, why i don't know, slightest pebble just throws it of it's line
Lidl-Trek should be ashamed
ADC has their $hit together with the best in the business leadout train!
Bora tactics useless as always whilst Visma has a genius in the background: LR
I've been waiting for this for so long, good thing you're back with the TDF recap
Too bad Remco did not have the balls to chase the front group himself and instead lost 49 seconds on a flat stage.
I know it's wrong, but I LOL so long @ 2:19.
Groves moves look like a mario kart wii spindrift actually incredible
Impressive by Wærenskjold after a rough week with the flu, he was still coughing hard during interviews today!
Not much of a surprise to see Remco poorly positioned. Besides winning every TT under the sun, that is his other hallmark characteristic.
WTF Lidl Trek was doing man…
Some Sprinters in G2 not pulling all out for their GC guy and then sprinting for 40th was disgusting.
Strange… Jasper didn't try to kill anyone..
from Sporting Director to 5 helping cyclist, the Red Bull Bora Team was a pure embarrassement. The Ferrari of cycling strategy wise with – of course – the whole lack of historic success behind. Just a badly managed team.
