Beyond The Brotherhood | A Look At VIOLENCE Within The Blues Angels MC

It was a chilly, overcast day in 1963 Glasgow when the city’s underworld witnessed the birth of a motorcycle club that would cement its legacy in infamy. Founders Alan Morrison and Billy Stone Gordon could not have predicted the notoriety the Blue Angels Motorcycle Club would achieve, as violence and chaos became its calling card. This is the tale of the Blue Angels, the oldest and one of the most infamous outlaw biker clubs in Europe.

The Blue Angels MC, arising from Scotland’s dark underbelly, have Europe’s oldest outlaw biker reputation with roots tracing back to 1963. From their inception in Glasgow’s notorious gang environment, the Blue Angels began by engaging in violent skirmishes with mods and rival street gangs. Names spread through whispers in the streets, Blue Angels quickly signified not just malevolence but also influence.

Their nefarious activities were not confined to Scottish borders. The club claimed territory far and wide, establishing chapters in England, Belgium, and Spain. Today, the Blue Angels don their rebellious pride in Scotland, having avoided the American biker influence swaying many European counterparts. The club’s disdain for American biker gangs was evident in their historical clashes with the English Hell’s Angels during the 1970s, preventing the latter from setting up chapters in Scotland.

In a 2007 interview with The Scotsman, Blue Angels President Lenny “The Lion” Reynolds declared, “We’re proud of the fact that there isn’t an American influence in Scotland; we fought the Hell’s Angels in the 1970s, which is why they don’t have a chapter here.”

The Blue Angels expanded their reach in the 1970s by forming an alliance with the Road Rats of London. They eventually avoided a footprint increase in London, with a short-lived chapter disbanding soon after its inception. However, the influence of the gang spread as far as continental Europe. By 1992, they had integrated a Belgian club under their banner and expanded their criminal empire across borders.

The Blue Angels’ link with organized crime was cemented early on; Glasgow’s gang wars of the 1960s had seniority orchestrating protection rackets, illegal shebeens, and prostitution. The Blue Angels’ reputation was marked by relentless brawls, the infamously violent bar fights, and brutal revenge attacks that included petrol bombings. One such mass brawl in Glasgow City Center, involving hundreds of gang members, led to a Blue Angel receiving a life sentence. The violence ended only after gang leaders brokered a truce, forming an uneasy peace.

The club’s association with Glasgow Crime Boss Walter Norville further solidified their infamy. Norville’s daughter Rita married William “Gun” McGuinn, a Blue Angels member sentenced to five years for witness intimidation in the notorious armed robbery trial against Norville in 1977. Blue Angels bikers even served as pallbearers at Norville’s funeral in 2014, symbolizing the indelible connection between the gang and organized crime.

Yet the Blue Angels didn’t just retire to nostalgic imagery of mayhem and debauchery. In 2011, the gang reportedly clashed fiercely with Teesside’s Satan’s Slaves chapter, renewing violent rivalries. Actor and musician Charlie Allen became collateral damage, suffering a brutal assault by Blue Angels members in 2012 for allegedly assisting rival outlaw bikers, The Outlaws, in establishing a Dundee chapter.

The club’s legacy continued even in the face of internal betrayals and scandals. Chris “Baki” Deader, the Belgian Blue Angels chapter president for 22 years, was expelled in 2016 for allegedly embezzling funds and founding an unapproved nomad chapter. Their internal battles, much like their external skirmishes, underline a legacy of power struggles and fierce loyalty.

In 2020, the club mourned the death of its co-founder Alan Morrison, who succumbed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the age of 77. Morrison’s funeral in Glasgow drew around 400 bikers from across Europe, a testament to the longstanding and widespread impact of the club.

The Blue Angels Motorcycle Club, with chapters stretching from Scotland to Spain, maintains its shadowy influence across regions, boasting approximately 200 members in Scotland alone. Their supporting club, The Tribe, with 25 chapters, shows the web of influence and illicit networks rooted in the original vicious ethos.

  1. Wow!! I have never heard of them before & maybe I’m glad. They seem to be a really badass club ?? Why r all of Europes Clubs seem to b more violent than in US ?? Their sentences of 200 hrs community service seems so light compared to US. Not sure if that’s true?? I can’t remember ever hearing about it except with juvenile’s & DUI’s etc. 🌹

  2. Lenny Reynolds the oldest serving member and original member since 1963. The man’s a legend and highly respected. A real 1% biker 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  3. What a shit video. Boring as fuck. Anyway, what has the guy on the thumbnail got to do with it? The guy with "leader" on his vest? He wasn't in the video. I know him personally.

  4. My old man is 1 of the Blues Glasgow original old colours are the best don’t like the new ones top and bottom rocker like hells angels better individual letters no white background. He’s a pensioner still going about on his Harley Wee Popeye💪🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  5. I've been to a Blue Angels party, the hardest thing there was the sausage rolls. Absolute wannabes playing dress up. Middle aged men who want to be part of something because they weren't in a gang growing up. Blue Angels aren't involved in any criminal activity or anything in Scotland. No one's even heard of them.

  6. This is such bullshit. They are the dominant 1%er MC in Scotland but as they're Glasgow based thats hardly surprising.
As for not having any American influence, don't make me laugh, riding Harleys and having 1% diamonds alone is American influence as are the majority of the set up, chapters and so on.

  7. They stopped The Hells Angels coming to Scotland that’s how violent and brave they are.

My dad’s friend was a high ranking member I’ve always had a passion and loved the life but just never got round to getting involved.

  8. We call them Patch Wankers. Cant ride for shit, broke AF and nothing else to do but stop people overtaking them on the motorway…but we do anyway coz they all ride jank AF Harleys ROFL
