day two looks like ripping up a sculpt chat as day go
well I really enjoyed um sitting around drinking beer and cider yeah so it’s very much a fallen off the wagon day today it’s fair to say
yes it was very relaxed
yeah so I mean the route we did today would actually be really good for anyone that doesn’t actually do that much cycling so I think if you were just coming here as a a day trip thing so we did 26 milesi sandal
sandal which is surprisingly nice place to be
huge uh well espan cafes and
not too many people but it could just be that’s cuz it’s out of season and then we carried around the coast through Shan Clen Bonurch Ventor St loris all the way down to that monstrously uh steep drop to St catherine’s lice house and back up driving down this and a couple of hills and then finally through is it God’s hill
god yeah
which is really pretty
incredibly pretty place very touristy little
Yeah
village but very pretty
yeah certainly incredibly accessible easy to do really i mean there are some hills but it’s not not unreasonable i’m hoping this hill will finish soon what stats did we have average 10.2 mph 2 and 1 half hours 483 m ascent and 488 descent so after this this weekend of what was affect or not weekend um couple of days really that was the test test do you think what do you think you needed to do for the jog fitter
get fitter but you you say get fitter do you mean stronger or
yeah my cardio is fine uh it’s literally just the legs getting tired towards the end of the day and then the next day my legs felt a bit tired going uphill
but no no other problems with the bike you not got any
no absolutely not so yes lifting the handlebars um have no shoulder ache anymore trying several different saddles the one I found is is now the saddle for me perfect yeah like an idiot I decided to uh test out a brand new saddle so I had to give up on my Brooksly one side of the saddle collapsed i’ve heard people talking about clap saddles before but you basically see one side is literally gone the other one’s rock solid it just end up with massive fruig which is why that one had to go away and I had to get a new one and I went for a cell sm which looks very unusual shaped and I wasn’t particularly convinced and I used it the first for like an 18 mileer and it did seem to be causing me a bit of bruising but I can honestly say now after 2 or 3 days it’s fine so I’m quite happy with that i’m confident that will be the saddle
so have you got any uh anything else you need to change before the jog or do you feel like you’re
So I don’t think I need to change anything else i think the only thing that we’ve learned really from this is not to need even less stuff than we brought so we’ve come with a slim down stuff this time so we’ve got one saddle bag but even then with three tops and stuff like that so there’s no need for three tops like one spare top the one you’re wearing is enough and then you just rotate them and wash it’s really insignificantly small amounts of weight but
it adds up
it will add up yeah so I think that’s the trick is just carry even less than you think you need uh and again let’s think again cuz it’s the UK if you did need something there’s a shop there’s always a shop that you can buy something
i say yeah you wear what you wear and one spare
um in case you get
cuz you have an accident i was going to say shat on by a bird
or shhat yourself so fast yeah
so that was unusual some of the tracks today they were pretty uh pretty good farm tracks and sand tracks and heavily gravel tracks and Yeah it was a bit bit of an adventure
yeah a bit slidy all over the place it
was nice though
it was it’s beautiful and it’s just so much more relaxing when you get away from traffic
absolutely so I mean tire wise I’m going to leave them as they are but then we’ll look at changing them out for something a bit more robust when probably post the jog if anyone is visiting the other way what I would recommend is to stick to the red squirrel trailway see I’m not that drunk i can still say that um but yeah is I’m sure that is the right name for it isn’t it that goes all the way around the place going to try and say
but it is uh it’s definitely the best okay would So what do you reckon out of 10 for the aisle of weight
um eight eight yeah I think that’s safe i’d go with eight cuz I I I would 100% prefer cycling around here versus driving driving with driving mad yeah cool right oh well so tomorrow we are heading back to the mainland and then we’ve got another Tomorrow’s actually a big day isn’t it so it’s 40 60 mile tomorrow
yeah it’s going to be 15 miles back to the ferry um hop over to Lamington and then Lamington through the New Forest Dorset and another 45 so
excellent right well fingers crossed that’ll all be well and the weather will stay good and till the next time
