so hey viewers welcome back to the channel this is Jan and today I’m going to talk about what I honestly feel is one of the most value for money budget bikes present in the market the Triban RC 520 i have done almost 300 to 400 km on this bike so this is going to be a user review i’ve used this bike for pretty much everything what it’s meant for whether it’s training rides whether it’s commute or anything else i’ve used it on different kind of terrains whether it’s gravel flat roads hilly roads so I know all about this bike all the pros all the cons and all of the things I’ve learned about this bike I’m going to share with you guys in this video so let’s go ahead talking about the price of this bike this bike cost 900 in the UK and 90,000 rupees in India
with the geometry of this bike it goes for all whether it’s your commuting your weekend training ride or your touring plan this works for all the bike comes with 28 mm tires which I personally love because this drive a balance of both comfort and rolling resistance average 410 g in weight decent grip but I’ll probably shift to the gator skins these are Tribun pupless ready wheels better than the RC 500 ones 28 spokes in the front 28 in the rear sealed bearings and decent rigidity now the handlebar tape here I’ve upgraded it to the pinnacle gel bar tape cuz it comes with a foam handlebar tape which is completely shipped especially in wet conditions it just soaks up all of that rain all of that water and I don’t like that feel the Erggoit saddle it’s pretty much similar to the other Tribon bikes and works good for me what I love about the 520 is how versatile the build is it has got mounts for pure racks here and on the fork for the mud guards so even if it’s your gravel ride or your touring ride you’re prepared for all plus it supports tire up to 36 mm so that’s a great thing about this bike as well now talking about the group set a lot of people get confused that the entire group set is Shimano 105 but let me clear this these levers are Shimano 105 but mechanical the brakes they are not Shimano the crank set is Shimano but not the 105 the derailure rear and front both are Shimano 105 the crank set is RS 510 50 to 34 teeth and the casset that we get here is a Microshift 1 which comes with a ratio of 11 to 32 teeth which is perfect for hilly conditions but yeah I don’t like the durability of this cassette i’ve personally used the RC500 it again comes with a micro shift casset which I personally don’t like so if you’re purchasing this bike you might consider upgrading the cassette if you ride on flats get a different ratio but if you are doing it in hills this ratio might work plus the derailer also here is a long cage so it can accommodate to bigger cassets so talking about the brakes of this bike this bike comes with TRP hydraulic brakes which are cable actuated hydraulic brakes so when you pull the lever it gives you the mechanical feel but the effect is completely same as hydraulic i personally love these yeah of course if I compare them to the hydraulic brakes the feel the touch is different but yeah they work pretty much good and it’s completely value for money i have had bad experiences with the mechanical disc brakes in the past especially with the alignment but here I didn’t feel anything like that these TP hydraulic brakes are superb the wiring I don’t need to define its quality it’s from Jaguar one of the most renowned brands in wiring you’re going to love the quality of these cables so I’ve talked about all the features and specifications of this bike so far now coming to my personal verdict on this bike this bike might not win beauty contest but it’s a super value for money if you compare it to a bike like Treman AL2 which costs the same as this 900 it comes with a Sora drivetrain a creaky crank set and the mechanical disc brakes with alignment issues one of the drawbacks that I feel particularly exists in this bike is this bike could have been given a through axle instead of a quick release cuz in this price segment I have seen other Decathlon gravel bikes coming with a through axle so yeah I personally love this bike this is my bike for my daily commute little bit gravel and weekend training rides and if you maintain it well it’s going to deliver you more than what you paid for so yeah that’s being said if any of your friends are looking to purchase this bike do share this video with them do drop a like any of your questions in the comment section down below or you can DM me on my Instagram that’s all for this video i hope to see you soon bye-bye [Music] [Music]
