let’s get started today we at Swansea University and we are going to talk about the Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship we are starting with the funding and it says the Supra scholarship covers the difference between the international and home tuition fee rate for the duration of the PhD or professional doctorate program successful candidates will be charged fees aligned to the UK rates per year this is currently £4786 for 2024 2025 and £5,06 for 2025 2026 increasing annually in line with UKRI regulations usually at a rate of 3% per year the scholarship is offset against your tuition fees and the scholarship value will be deducted from your tuition fees applicants must confirm that they have sufficient funds to cover the remaining fees for the whole period of registration as well as to cover their living costs this means with this scholarship you’re not going to pay the international tuition fee rate you know there is a big difference between the international tuition rate and then the domestic tuition there is a very huge difference but because of the scholarship you are rather going to pay for the domestic tuition rate as an international student so instead of paying a huge amount you are going to pay 4,786 for 2024 2025 academic year and then 2025 2026 you’re going to pay 5,06 then here you have the details about the scholarship it says that the Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship is a competitively awarded scholarship scheme open to overseas PhD and professional doctorate applicants who are eligible for the international rate of tuition fees and can demonstrate excellence in academic achievement closing dates for the scholarship applications are so for October 2025 enrollment the deadline for application is 15th July 2025 this means if you want to start in October of this year the deadline is 15th July for January 2026 enrollment the deadline is 15th October 2025 april 2026 enrollments the deadline is 15th January 2026 for the last one which is July 2026 enrollment the deadline is 15th April 2026 and that is the last deadline if you want to study in October you should start your application now because for October the deadline is 15th July that is just next month then we have eligibility to apply for this scholarship applicants must be applying for an eligible PhD or professional doctorate program at Swansea University click here for the full list of eligible courses we are going to check that very soon have achieved or be expecting to achieve a first class or 21 UK undergraduate degree or equivalent international qualification and slash or a distinction in a UK master’s degree or international equivalent be classed as an international student and eligible to pay the international rate of Swansea University tuition fee please note that these are minimum entry requirements excellence must be demonstrated beyond academic qualification as part of your application for your chosen course then how to apply to apply for the scholarship you will need to apply for an eligible PhD or professional doctorate program so we are going to check this within your application please indicate that you would like to be considered for the supra scholarship to demonstrate excellence please outline in your supporting statement your academic track record as well as other activities that may be relevant that is prizes awarded outreach activities teaching experience etc you will be informed whether the super scholarship will be awarded within your offer letter this means there is no separate application for the scholarship when you’re applying for your PhD program you just indicate that you want to be considered for the scholarship now let’s look at the list of eligible courses so you’re going to click this we have suppress eligible program so you can go through this and find a program you are interested in or in your field there are a lot of programs here i can’t mention everything but the fields are humanities and social sciences science and engineering when you come down here we have medicine health and life sciences so you have to go through it and make sure your program is here school of psychology school of health and social care so when you find your program you can start making your application i’m going to click one of the programs and we see how the application process is so I’m going to click development studies PhD this is the program page for development studies PhD so we are going to come down and click on entry requirement the entry requirement for PhDs yes we are going to read this it says applicants for PhD must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 21 level and a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at merit alternatively applicants with a UK first class honors degree or non UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University not holding a master’s degree will be considered on individual basis so you need to apply to the PhD program with your undergraduate you should have a 21 and then a master’s degree however if you have a bachelor’s degree alone and you know that you have good grades you can still make the application because they’re going to consider it on individual basis now let’s click this and see the country specific entry requirement here we have the countries and equivalent requirements you need to make the application for postgraduate programs you need to have a 21 so you’re going to check Ghana and see the grade you need to make the application for Ghana before you can apply to a PhD program you should have a secondass upper division or GPA of 3.0 this is what you need to have before you can apply to the PhD program if you are from Nigeria you should have a second class upper division or GPA of 3.5 out of 5.0 3.0 out of 4.0 and then 4.6 out of 7.0 this is what you need to have before you can make the application if you from any other country you can go through it and check for your country and see the documents or the requirements you need before you can start making the application then we have English language requirements let’s click this what is the required level of English language to study at Swansea University we are going to click on country specific qualification and see each requirement for the countries for entry into postgraduate here at the country so you’re going to just look for your country and see the requirements you need if you are from Ghana and you have a bachelor’s degree it means that you can submit it and you do not need to submit any English language certificate if you are from any other country Kenya Liberia Malaysia Namibia if you are from Nigeria you can submit your post school diploma a bachelor’s degree if you have that you do not need to submit any other certificate for your English language proficiency requirement if your country is in table one evidence of English language qualification is not required you do not need to submit anything they’re going to know immediately you make your application that you are from this country and so you do not need to submit it so Ghana Kenya Liberia Nigeria you are all in table one and then when you come down here we have table two if you are from this country you have to submit these documents to prove your proficiency you do not need to submit the English test certificates but you have to submit these documents so it says acceptable boards and evidence of English language qualification required so when you come down here we have Brunai we have Cameroon we have India so if you from India you need to submit this document year 12 senior school certificate examination from central board of secondary education and then year 12 Indian school certificate from council for the Indian school certificate examination this is for India if you are from here you need to submit these documents so you go through it if your country is in this table you need to submit the documents here to prove your English proficiency to make an application you’re going to come here and click apply then you select international then fulltime the scholarship is a PhD scholarship so you select three year fulltime here you’re going to select your start date so you’re going to select October 2025 application guidelines for international students how to apply the first one is check academic entry requirements we’ve already done this then you’re going to provide transcripts and certificates for the application the next one is check English language requirement we’ve already done that then the fourth one is create an application you’re going to come down here and click start your application since you’re applying for the development studies the name is already here if you are new here you’re going to click the new user here you’ll create your account you’re going to enter your details here your title your first name your family name your date of birth then you come down here and enter your email you confirm the email and then you enter your password afterwards you come down here you consent to confirmation questions and create user when you click this they’re going to create your account for you and then you can start making the application to the program please note that there is no separate application for the scholarship when you are making your application to the program you just request that you are considered for the scholarship and they are going to consider you
