After over 1,300 km across Italy, Slovenia, and Austria, I crossed into my 4th country – the Czech Republic 🇨🇿.
What followed was 550 km of unforgettable bikepacking through lush forests, steep climbs, hidden river paths, and some of the best local beer I’ve ever tasted 🍺.
In this episode, I cycle along the beautiful Vltava River, fix my first mechanical (broken spoke), fight through thunderstorms, and enjoy local Czech food like dumplings, sauerkraut, and mystery meat served with a smile (and a little confusion).
I explore charming villages, watch a kayak competition, ride into Prague, and have an emotional moment at the Terezín Memorial – a place of deep history and reflection.
Czechia may just be my favorite country so far – for the scenery, the people, the peace… and yes, the beer. 🍻
🏕️ Wild camping, small campsites, cozy hotels, 100+ km per day, and moments of pure magic – this is what bikepacking is all about.
If you enjoy cycling adventures, food culture, and travel through Europe, don’t forget to like 👍, comment 💬, and subscribe 🔔 for more episodes as I ride from Bologna to Copenhagen.

[Music] after more than 1,300 km and three beautiful countries I crossed a quiet back road and suddenly I was in the Czech Republic country number four on this journey that night I also had my first mechanical a broken spoke in my rear wheel with a cold kosal lagger in hand I toasted the road behind me and the road ahead czech beer isn’t just good it’s legendary this country has the highest beer consumption per capita in the world and it shows in the quality each village seems to have its own brew its own story in a glass every day I tried something new pznner Kosal Bernard each sip a taste of local pride the next morning I faced steep climbs long and punishing in the town of Cheski Kromlov i passed under the Lazniki Bridge a 15th century stone crossing in a fairy tale setting above it a grand castle overlooks the river and below the water carries kayakers through the heart of the village kayaking is more than sport here it’s part of life [Music] the silent forest roads balanced the effort soft light filtered through the trees and I kept pedaling following the Voltava River I entered a dreamlike stretch of countryside eventually the rain came [Music] i found the Riverside campsite and listen to the storm roll in [Music] [Music] my first flat tire came after 1,600 km fixed quickly I continue into Prague i arrived midday found a hotel and collapsed into a hot shower and a nap a rest day well earned in Prague I recharged a plate of Svichkava bohemian duck with creamy sauce and dumplings paired with a cold laga reminded me why I love this journey every bite every glass every story [Music] then with full energy I pushed on a 187 km right along the river lane brought me through peaceful towns and wide green stretches [Music] but then something different i arrived at the Terzine Memorial a former military fortress turned into World War II ghetto and concentration camp the air was still i stopped reflected how strange it is time on the bike moves fast but history feels so close here [Music] [Music] i crossed into Germany this was East Germany and something about the landscape [Music] the towns even the silence felt different but that’s a story for next time thank you for watching if you’ve enjoyed this journey please like subscribe and come along for the next ride there’s so much more to see
