i’m back for more Eurobike hot tech so we’re going to find all of the cool stuff because there is still loads and loads of good stuff to find let’s not dillydally let’s go find the hot tech okay we got to talk about this it is the crazy new bike from Factor Bikes now this was spotted that the Doofan I think we’re probably going to see it used in a tour of France in the coming weeks factor remain very very tight lipped about it so we have no information about this bike other than what we can see now clearly there’s a lot going on here at the front end crazy handlebar design crazy fork design and the way that the front of the bike tapers and slims down to the back clearly we’ve got a big big focus on aerodynamics here now the interesting thing for me is that at a similar time to first seeing this bike we’ve seen some massive rule changes by the UCI now I’m led to believe that this still fits into the UCI regulations which is a good thing now I don’t know any facts and data about it but you’ve got to assume this crazy wide fork leg is going to be really really good for aerodynamics because it’s a design that we’ve seen lots of different brands use predominantly around track bikes and we’ve seen this at the Paris Olympics so I’m assuming this is kind of like an evolution of that technology so fitted to this bike as well we’ve got the brand new Super Record from Campano with the little thumb shifters and I can’t even tell you what it’s called because we’ve got no names on here at all but the back end of the bike also looks super slick the way that the chain stays meet up at the seat tube the sort of minimal sort of clearance between everything i love it so hopefully we’ll see some more about this bike pretty soon want to see the fastest bike in the world as tested by Tour Magazine well look no further here it is it’s the Simplon Pride so they’re saying there just 199 watts of aerodynamic drag at 45 km an hour when you’ve got a set of legs fitted onto this bike which is the process that the tour magazine testing do now if you wanted to be really really picky technically there is one bike which trumps this bike however it’s set up using a one by chain ring so doesn’t really count now there’s loads of cool details on this bike it’s really gone all out arrow everywhere the handlebar and the stem design is really unique i like that you’ve got adjustability there in terms of different stem length options you’ve got camtail profiles throughout everywhere optimized for 30 mm tires this one is fitted with super big chunky boys and even the shaping of the handlebars uses that camtail design if you look on the lower section of the drops it’s got that aerodynamic profile too so um yeah really cool and if you like bikes that are designed to go fast perhaps this could be the one for you let’s talk lightweight cranks next so these are from a brand called QO who have got really interesting background in cranks and I believe some involvement with the setup of rotor from a number of years back now here we’ve got their race crank and their race crank SL sl being the super light version you’ve got a three-piece design up here you’ve got the aluminum axle you’ve got carbon fiber arms and then you’ve got aerodynamic two by chain rings down here is the lightest version the difference being that you’ve got a two-piece setup and the left hand crank arm is actually one piece bonded in with the axle the light version in a 170 mil crank arm and a 5034 chain ring is actually 510 g which does make it very very light they’ve also got some gravel cranks which are using a Kevlar reinforced section just by where the pedal mounts to protect the crank from rock strikes and things like that loads of cool different finishes on here and I’ve got to say I really like how they look and the fact that you can get loads of different colors is a really good way to try and customize the look of your bike i have got to show you this bike it’s the Pascula Cremona ACR think I might have murdered the name site there but nonetheless this thing is off the charts and it’s possibly one of my favorite bikes of the entire show now it’s actually on the Kex stand showcasing a lot of their products and accessories as such we’ve got their Max wheel set we’ve got their new saddle we got new handlebar we got loads of cool accessories on here the wheel set actually is really neat because it uses carbon fiber spokes which are actually bonded onto the hub shells the bike’s fitted with latest Stram red oil slick chain oil slick cassette big thumbs up from me there’s also the new 3D printed saddle up top and I think these are also the latest KEX tires as well so far I got to say yeah this paint job is doing it for me and the the mirror sort of chrome silver at the back oh boy also giving me real vibes of the um the giant team bikes the color way of this i like that updates from Elite Wheels here these are their Vevel 6 2 generation now I actually rode the first pair a little while back and the updates here are geared around making the wheel stiffer laterally and reducing the weight that’s super cool to see also we’ve got the Drive 65D second generation here these have been around for a little while now and you’ll see these on number of our bikes on the channel but over here we’ve got some wheels which I’ve not yet seen before and which are a step ahead of the drive range so here we’ve got the Drive SL 43D disc brake 43 mm wide and the weight of these we’re talking around 1,210 g for the pair we’ve got a different hub to the other wheels a slightly shallower rim but similar carbon fiber spokes then we move across to here these ones are absolutely off the charts so these are the Drive Ultra 33s so shallower wheel depth but these ones are super super light they’re actually under 1 kg or 1,000 g for the pair in fact they are 990 g we’ve got a totally different hub design here same super lightweight carbon fiber spokes and of course ratchet system inside as well free up sound check these bad boys i think so to be fair pretty quiet okay I lied i found my new favorite bike this is the Vertical SLR from Villia Tristina it’s a super super limited edition version from their Wave collection this is number one of just 20 bikes now in case you haven’t really noticed what’s standing out on this well you’ve got gold leaf used throughout the frame and the components and on the wheels so the wheels you got the MK wheels 50 mm deep gold leaf on the naming on the little decals and then throughout the frame the way this is used is mindblowing and I really love this like marbled white and blue finish and fade on the fork you got more gold leaf on the top more gold leaf on the handlebars fitted with the latest Super Record of course and apparently there’s going to be more crazy designs like this to come gold leaf on bikes remember that time I tried to do gold leaf on a bike yeah yeah it didn’t quite work out as good as this did it now by now we all know that I love tubeless tires but I’m well aware that everybody at home doesn’t necessarily love the setup of tubeless tires so what we’ve got here is a survival kit for tubeless tires trying to make the setup as easy and neat as possible so inside here you’ve got this amazing sort of self-contained little kit giving you everything that you could possibly need to get set up in the fastest and simplest way possible so you’ve got the new e- booster digital mini which is like a super compact little digital pump cool little digital display here colored as well so you can get your pressures dialed in and set up just right and this will go from naugh to 80 psi in 60 seconds but the really cool and clever little piece if I get this out of here is is this so this places in line between the pump and the little rubber hose which connects to your valve here and then you put your sealant in here you turn the pump on and by using Topi’s new high flow valve you can get your tire seated you can get all the sealant in in one smooth go helping to keep everything neat and tidy and um minimal fuss and getting you riding your bike rather than spending more time setting it up next cool innovation we’ve got from Topi is the Tuby Cartridge T16 twoin-one repair and inflator now this thing is actually pretty cool so it’s a combination of two products hence I’ve just said it’s two in one and it is essentially given you the ability to repair a tubeless tire with these sort of small little bacon or worm strips that lots of people will be familiar with but the cool thing here is all in this little CNC aluminium machined tip which you put the little worms bacon strip through you put into your tire and then this little piece actually comes off like so and stays inside your tire helping to keep the tubeless repair plug in place keeping your tire sealed up but then not only that at the same time as having this inserted into your tire you’re able to attach a CO2 canister onto this little top section here and inflate it at the same time before then removing the tool okay let’s talk group set tech next i’ve stopped by the machine stand and here we’ve got the really cool QED group set on display two by setup 13speed we’ve got a wired connection from the rear derailer to the battery and the same for the front derailer to the battery which incidentally is pretty cool itself even though it’s going to be buried deep inside your frame it’s got a carbon fiber shroud round in it presumably helping to try and keep the weight down as much as possible you then have a wireless connection up to your shifters and then also the shifters have got an additional button function on them too so tucked inside on the lever hoods here you can pair it up to control things like an action camera or your bike computer here the right hand shifter turns an action camera on and off while the left hand one makes the bell go on your head unit there’s also a second group set here so you’ve got the PES group set which is a more entry- level product utilizing the same kind of technology and the 2×13 speed and then the more premium one which is the QED which we’ve got on display here now at the moment this is only available to the domestic market but the guys here are telling me that they’re hoping to make international sales this groupster available pretty soon and I think if it does it’s just going to add another big player into the market that’s going to be great for consumers because it’s going to help drive innovation and hopefully help drive down prices let’s talk shop now we’re talking workshop i love stopping by to see the guys at Park Tools cuz they’ve always got some cool stuff to show me this time we’ve got an updated rotor chewing tool now I appreciate this might not be exciting for everyone but I love this kind of stuff now the reason it’s been updated is to account for the thicker rotors that we’re finding on say mountain bikes or cargo bikes or e- cargo bikes because they’re becoming more and more common it allows you to fit the tool over those wider rotors and then sort of centralize the rotor to stop any brake rub that I think is a good addition it’s called the DT-2.2 there’s also some other new parts here as well we’ve got an updated stand add edition so this is a modular fitment and accessory to go into the um electronic lifts that you would typically find in workshops and bike shops and it’s allowing them to accommodate the larger and heavier cargo bikes which are actually really difficult to handle and lift especially if you’re in a workshop environment and doing that regularly and then if we move over on to the other side of the stand well there’s a new tool which is a big tire bead breaker because let’s face it if you’ve run tubeless tires in the past we’ve all been there trying to get the tire bead off of the rim struggling shouting and swearing at our wheels but that’s all designed to help make life super easy new helmets from Abbus here and this is the air breaker 2 as the name suggests second generation of the airreaker there’s been some big updates here so you’ve got improvements not only in cooling and ventilation but also in aerodynamics now the way that they’ve achieved improvements in both of these things is through the widening of the channels at the front of the helmet but not only that it’s all about optimizing the shaping on the internal channels that means you can get good air flow in and air flow back out of the helmet because the faster the air flow is well the less impact on aerodynamics and the greater the impact on cooling the other changes are on the top of the helmet here so instead of having that mesh grid system on the top you’ve now got a thin little injected carbon plate but it’s not just for the visuals and to improve aerodynamics because the surrounding area of this carbon plate also has a little skeleton structure here now if I pop this helmet down on the floor I can show you some of these pieces which are fitted to the inside of the helmet so you’ve got this section on the top and then you’ve got this grid system around the outside helping to add strength into the helmet and then this sits on the front now you can only actually see these small little channels here when the helmet is built and constructed the rest of it lies deep within the EPS core helping to add strength to it there’s also options in terms of whether you can choose lots of different colors and you’ve got the difference between the black and white EPS foam for the construction of the helmet and I’m told this is actually quite an interesting change here because it’s not quite as simple as just adding some color into the material to change it now the properties of the material change whether you have black or white as such they actually have to redesign and retest all of the helmets to make sure they meet the exact same safety requirements also you’ve got the options to have a MIP liner inside or the fidlock enclosure system as well i got to say all white helmets are a big thumbs up for me more cool bikes to show you now and this is a special edition Ridley Noah Fast done in the 711 colors it’s a bit of a retro throwback here big fan of this not only the bike but the paint of course as well really really cool that and then if we move across here there’s another bike it’s called the Triton Fast and it’s a new time travel bike as such we’ve got like prototype 3D printed time travel bars the front a really crazy looking stem and also if we come down to the back of the bike where it’s utilizing the latest technology from Stram this is their red explore group set which uses the UDH and that means you got access to this super super wide range cassette meaning you can run a one by setup front to help keep the bike super aero there’s also like this 3D printed hydration unit sitting in the frame and same up the top here this is to really maximize aerodynamics as much as possible now this tech is super cool in the world of triathlon but in the world of time trials and UCI regulations that is not going to be allowed does big up mean better well here at the Dirty Sixer stand they believe so especially when it comes to frame and wheel sizes this crazy contraption next to me uses a 36in wheel which is absolutely mind-blowing now this is a one-off special bike which is uh for the owner and founder of Dirty Six and he says he’s taking it to Mega Avalanche next week and um he just told me he’s got his fingers crossed he hopefully doesn’t break any bones so I guess he’s planning on riding pretty damn hard now in addition to this they do have some other bikes in their range which use a slightly smaller wheel 32 in they’re available as uh production models already you’ve got a hard tail mountain bike behind me and there’s also a rigid ebike over there super cool like intricate details and all the stuff the fact that we’ve got a dual disc brake up front absolutely blows my mind now obviously being a bike this size and using wheels this large it’s designed for really really tall people and as such really if you want to use the 36-in wheel you’re looking at a height of around 2 m and upwards is best suited to this bike now the idea behind it is really to help make everything in the right proportions for tall riders and try to help the move the center of gravity back into the center rather than what happens on your traditional size bikes that are just in XXXL size is that your center of gravity tends to be quite far back which sort of negatively impacts the handling i just literally can’t get my head around the size of this well there you go that was today’s findings hope you enjoyed seeing the cool stuff that we found if you have get involved in the comments section down below and let me know what bit of cool bike tech was your favorite and as always subscribe to GCN Tech turn on your notifications because there is still more cool stuff to come right I’m going to um I’m going to go now because standing here is actually quite risky there’s lots of bikes i don’t want to get run over see you

  1. Hi, very pleased to see the stuff from Dirty Sixer. Proper larger bikes for larger/taller reiders. Need to get a more in depth look and closer detail. Thanks.

  2. e-bikes, e-derailleurs, even e-pumps. Why is the bike industry so dedicated to create e-waste that tackle problems that have already been solved by mechanical solutions?

  3. Alex, did you say that Magene QED groupset is 2×13? I can say in Australia at least the Magene is making waves in the enthusiast market from their tubes to their power meters. I think this would make a good addition to the next frame up build

  4. The front end of that Factor bike in the intro looks like it belongs in a Batman movie. You either love it or hate it. I think it looks wild!
