we really out here Oh my days Easy does it buddy We got a guard dog Bonjour Easy does it Okay Okay Jimel Joshua I’m not breaking in dude Dude is built for it Wow All right So the going has gotten rough Um I felt good this morning I already I took a rest day So I said I’m going to set out and I’m going to do a 100 mile day which I think I’ve done like maybe 60 or 70 Um so 100 I mean I’ve gotten fitter It seemed like a good goal All was going you know they say no plan Survives first contact with the enemy There you go So everything was going well until um after lunch I hit traffic and there was an hour of traffic And when I had lunch before I said I’m going to do the classic uh I think it was uh Cortez move where you burn the boats So what I did is I booked the hostel €35 That’s a lot of money Um so I said “Well now I have to make it I gave myself no choice.” Well then I hit the traffic jam and that was like an hour that I had budgeted of travel where I was stationary It was terrible So now my time schedule’s or my time table’s just gotten compressed and compressed to the point where I I just I refuse to bike when the sun is down And uh we’re cutting it close Um I started at 6:00 a.m It’s now 6:00 p.m Fortunately in France this seems like the sun never sets So we still have a few hours but it’s tight Um I’m more than halfway I think I’m at maybe mile um 60 So I still have 40 mi to go Um then I just hit this beautiful beautiful uh mountain range but it is a small mountain range and I can get over it but it’s costing me We got this man All right I’m no quitter but it’s gotten to the point the sun has set and it’s legitimately unsafe for me to be on these roads So it’s time to throw in the towel I didn’t get to where I wanted to but I feel I have more in me you know Like I know I could do those 100 miles if I just had a few more hours but it’s just so dangerous and can’t put uh my safety at jeopardy So I’m just uh I’m finishing up this segment I’m being very careful but just kills me in my heart I know I could do those 100 miles I know but it’s it is risky out here you know Got to put life before pride Anyh who I just want to finish this one segment of the road that I’m pulling off and uh I’ll either call Uber and go there or pitch a tent depending on price €115 to get me into the city So um I will be stealth camping [Applause] All right we are set for the night Tomorrow the sun will rise ostensively in the east and the tent is perfectly oriented such that we will catch the sunrise So I think that might be something special All right The tire went skidding I wondered why Now I know that is flat So we will need to find a bike shop French love tacos Apparently that’s what they pick a taco Yeah
