So today I carried on with the local vlogs. The forest atm is a dangerous place to be – Lyme disease is apparently a huge issue this year in the UK, and I am being advised not to venture into the forest.

So I am going to play it safe, I am presently concentrating on riding my bike in and around the town highlighting various places of interest.

Todays subject was Bowling Greens – I visited 4 of them ( there are more) As I am kind of interested in taking up the game.

[Music] [Music] see you need dear eyes everywhere on this re do [Music] so before getting into the main meat of today’s vlog i just want to highlight what i’ve been doing in the garden i’ve been sort of rather busy uh doing a a kind of a rockery uh there was a lot of weeds around so i had to uh basically dig it all out first uh deweed uh the whole area only a small area and then i went about putting some membrane down to stop the weeds from kind of coming back and then i reestablished the the rocks in the places where uh we want them and uh got some plants cut the plants in and put them in the ground with some fish blood uh and bone um and uh then i reapplied uh some top soil and some uh uh some bagged fertilizer i suppose you could call it and i’m just hoping that um with a bit of love tlc tenderloving care i think they call it uh it will all uh sort of grow nicely for me and the garden’s really looking quite quite nice now so uh yeah garden’s pretty much almost done it’s just got to get on and do what it it’s got to do and uh just keep the plants in kind of tiptop healthy condition [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] right hello once again youtubers andy with you with a another little video so this is where it all kind of starts uh my house i think it’s really important to get out get some exercise to do the things which you really really enjoy i enjoy riding my recumbent bike and uh also flying my drones i’ve got my drones in my panas today i’ve got nothing planned um i’m just going to get some exercise and i thought i’d take my cameras along uh just to try and document my little journey really so uh um not sure what we’re going to do today but um i’m just going to have some fun right so i’ve not long had my 60th uh birthday uh back on the 9th of june 60 years old and what i’ve been finding over the past maybe four or five years is that i’ve just been kind of stiffening up a little bit uh so i think uh getting exercise uh is good for the mind body and the soul and for me really just kind of walking uh doing nothing too strenuous or even just riding my recumbent bike i find gives me a pretty good workout but it’s not just a great workout you know for your legs and for your body i think it’s really important to do things which you really enjoy so also gives a good workout for your mind as well and we all know how important mind health actually is [Music] heat heat [Music] [Music] heat heat [Music] okay so we’re well and truly up into the old town part uh of swindon now place called westot road and if i go down to the left hand side uh there’s a lovely little bowls club down here called wesley bowls club is bowling green lane and we got to go over the bumps there’s suspension on these things so you feel every little bump we go right west bowls club um kind of getting interested in the game actually i was talking to a good friend of mine just the other day uh who uh plays bowls and um turns out it’s quite a i kind of always knew this really it’s quite a strategic uh sort of a game so this is just one of quite a few bowls clubs uh in and around the town where i live and i guess the green is through there there we go that’s uh the balls club here uh so the idea is is that you uh roll the little white ball down and then you try and uh get as close as you can with your four balls i think they got four balls this is the uh the largest um bowls club in swindon uh up in the old town there wes got bowls club it’s interesting yeah i don’t think the membership’s too expensive here i think it may be about £120 a year um which is pretty good i think i was thinking of um joining a bowls club somewhere such a lovely little close one as well beautiful [Music] okay right okay so uh into the uh oldtown gardens uh we go so now cutting the grass gosh he needs a gang mower for that that’s going to take him all day to cut it with a small mower like that [Music] i think it might be time for a cup of coffee yeah let’s go and see you some nuts honestly okay let’s have a bit of a fly around this place shall we we’re fpv style we’re going to take off the neo it goes and we’re going to get filming we’re going to take it over this way a little look at this uh bowling green have a little fly around it just to see what it’s like gives you a bit of an idea doesn’t it there we go oh bit of uh damage there i think to the green yeah struggling a bit isn’t it what did i see up there was it like an owl or something it looks like an owl doesn’t it okay interesting not sure why there would be an owl there but there is this is kind of the club i suppose here no okay all right have a bit of a fly around the actual area itself shall we just to see what there is yep right easy does it easy tiger easy tiger there we go whoops yeah nice i have got randall here by the way randall is with me um he’s just keeping out a shot okay i do need i do understand if i’m flying kind of fpv style i kind of do need a a watcher per se and i’ve got good old randall here with me so we’re all good okay a little look out here let’s take it up take it on sports mode i can stop it first i think there we go right we’re on sports mode now there we go right we take it up and we’re going to have a little fly around the town gardens gives you a bit of an idea doesn’t it bit of an idea gives me a bit of an idea as well bit of wind around today so it’s not flying particularly quickly it’s a little bit shaky as well so got to be a little bit careful really okay back into the back into the bowling green and uh back towards myself wasn’t that fun good stuff there we go where are you [Music] heat heat [Music] just had a prank by the look of it [Applause] yeah [ __ ] bmw is a bit of a mess okay we’re going to go down uh going to go down clifton street kings hill’s really steep and the brakes on this thing are okay but i don’t know i just oh gosh i don’t trust them to be honest i’m going to go on a a slighter hill which is clifton street it’s a lovely pub here actually i don’t think it’s open yet because it’s only about 11 but there’s some wonderful flowers outside you can see how they’ve done it go into the car park in a minute see what’s around the back cuz i think there’s some more lovely hanging baskets around there they’ve done a good job of it actually this is the clifton the clifton hotel in oldtown swindon there we go they done a good job of it this was fairly run down about 10 or so years ago when i came in here last but looks like they’ve really uh done a nice job of it beautiful flowers [Applause] okay right okay we got to go uh down to wescott place um and uh there’s another another bowls club around there actually and there’s another bowls club i’m just kind of doing the circuit of bowls clubs in swindon at the moment and it’s becoming for me quite interesting okay so at the bottom of king’s hill in swindon uh once upon a time many years ago there used to be an old canal um was it the aan and barks canal wasn’t it i think and it used to be right here i’d literally be sitting in water 10t under probably uh so this is an old canal here we go goes all the way up straight through straight through the center of town which we might go and have a look at later but you know what i think the local authority missed a trick some years ago uh they should have kept it open and made a a bit of a thing of it to be honest bristol did that with the docks and still you know done a great job of it but in swindon no foresight no investment there you go [Music] this way we go right okay right so literally just over there uh is the balls club in here somewhere i’ve got my mobile phone i have also got my controller uh i’ve got my flip as well so i’ve not taken my flip off for a while in my videos anyway i think that’s what we’re going to do have a flip around [Applause] here we go only a small club by the look of it not very big looks okay i’m going to take you up on the way there you go there we go right it’s kind of struggling in the wind this thing okay so i got to be mindful of how high i take it and kind of where i take it really so i don’t want to get a fly away which is quite easy to happen with the flip and also in quite windy weather there we are in the town yeah it’s kind of struggling a bit isn’t it gives you an idea there we go okay [Applause] right take it back down as much as i really want to do to be honest and um we carry on uh with our little our little adventure it’s uh it’s a really lovely uh canal this one they’ve really done a good job of restoring it it might get a bit windy just around this corner i can see a lot of water disturbance there so it might get a bit blowy here we go not too bad i don’t think but um we’re kind of right on the south side of swindon now heading out of the town into the countryside and uh these little pathways and cycleways are really just great they really are [Music] heat [Music] heat heat [Music] nice place to sit outside and have a coffee or a beer or something and uh watch the old uh boat go by beautiful heat heat [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay right so we’re going to leave what was quite a beautiful area really and they kind of incorporated it fairly nicely with new builds uh you can see that there’s an excavator over there uh ripping up the land uh making room for uh more a massive housing estate a huge housing estate [Applause] i mean they’re literally going to be building thousands thousands of houses down here on what was just really countryside really nice countryside as well um i mean what do you do with that and you know uk is a growing population uh not so much of indigenous people may i add but there you go just how it is and these people they obviously need somewhere to live hence the reasons why they’re ripping up land like that over there and making it into houses like this and uh people protest about it and local government basically overturn it so i mean what can i say really 2 okay right let’s give this a go then guys this is a quiet road or it used to be a quiet i think it’s even quieter now just because it’s pretty much a a dead end but we’re going to see if i can outrun uh the neo could put a bit of pace into it crank up the gears see if it can follow me [Music] [Music] okay we’re going to try direction track with the neo um in front of me it might it might go parallel then spin behind me but i just want to see how good it does uh actually kind of tracking me going forward bar direction track 3 2 1 right there it goes right let’s go see how well it does i’m just going to slowly going to build up my speed faster faster still doing a good job oh bit bumpy [Music] keep go keep going keep going keep going coming almost to the side of me ah it lost me it might follow me i don’t know if it will or not no okay it’s worry it might reacquire me i see if it does he’s got here try see if it’ll see if it’ll follow me i don’t know if it will no it’s not doing it okay well at least i know anyway it won’t necessarily follow me it’s follow me again three oh well never mind it did fairly okay i’m kind of pleased with that right we’re now in kent road swindon i was born in there 60 years ago more or less to the day kind of and now it’s a funeral service it’s kind of ironic really because i was born in there who knows i might even end up in there as well okay right now on the way to swinden balls club which is over the other side of the magic roundabout um this is going to be interesting this is like a suicide mission guys pretty much okay now you need need eyes everywhere on this roundabout you really do just give way to the right that’s all and then gun it and just uh hope and pray that somebody sees you there we go free i survived the magic roundabout free still still alive to tell the tale okay let’s uh take her off have a look shall we motor starting we go recording we go right have a good look shall we so we can see bit blowy mind uh nobody playing by the look of it you can see the way the uh the actual um drone is banking it’s uh really struggling with the wind isn’t it okay looks like there’s absolutely nobody about at the moment we’ll take it around take it over here bank it around nobody there nobody there okay we’ll put on sports mode sports mode give it a bit of elevation uh up in the sky she goes wow this thing’s really banking over isn’t it it’s really struggling there we go lovely view there looks looks nice doesn’t it they do look after that ground really really well actually capacity is about 15 thousand uh in that uh particular football stadium um yeah it’s not bad good place just a shame the football team’s doing so rubbish at the moment anyway we’ll take you back quick time downwind now so it should come back quite quickly i’d have thought [Applause] there we go sorted good old randall’s around as well thanks randall for helping out today you’ve been a great help i do appreciate it checks in the post here we go yeah quite surprised that there’s uh nobody hardly anyone playing playing bowls surprising that but i guess it’s probably a different story perhaps at the weekends more people might be coming out uh to play bowls but i mean generally speaking the people who do play bowls are probably of the older generation so therefore you know they’re not necessarily working they’re probably retired you’d have thought they might have been um down here practicing their game for a match or something anyway here we go uh so uh yeah we basically come to the end of my video now i i could go on for longer there are probably another maybe two or three bowls clubs on the uh north of swindon and the far reaches of the town and i’m just not going to go out that far i think the video’s probably gone on for long enough anyway guys that’s uh basically it for a another installment of andy’s diaries hope you enjoyed it i certainly have uh more videos to come of me on my
