Deansgate’s new bike lane, which was finished in the Spring, has proved controversial with taxi drivers, business owners, and motorists – but cyclists are firm fans.
The project — to make the thoroughfare one-way and build a new bike lane outside Great Northern Warehouse — began last August, and was completed at Easter.
Now the new infrastructure is a few months old, we decided to cycle the length of Deansgate on a blazing hot lunchtime to see if it’s an improvement.
To see how it’s changed the road, Local Democracy Reporter Ethan Davies took a Bee bike out for a spin.
