[Music] [Music] so for today’s route we’re going to head straight out of Plymouth up to the coast through Jenny Cliff and then we’re going to head east along that coast road and hit some Southampton’s villages So through Brixton Yampton Newton Ferris and Nos mayo Some really picturesque estry based locations And uh the route’s going to be about 32 to 33 miles probably 2,000 ft of climbing all in And uh I’ll be uploading that route to Strava and I’ll include the link for it in the description below so that if any of you want to have a look yourselves then you can get out there and ride that route [Music] So nice to be out of that traffic Live right in the center of Plymouth But it’s only about 3 and 1 half miles to get out to these quiet country spots And we are now arriving at Jenny Cliff which is the first climb It’s about 7 minutes long 6%ish all the way up Some nice twisties And uh it’s actually the featured hill climb for my local club the Plymouth Corinthians Every October they do the hill climb here And uh yeah there you go So uh let’s get on it [Music] Oh no No [Music] [Music] Crack a little warm up That is a little bit out of breath Once you get to the top of the Jenny Cliff climb you get to Stad Heights Golf Club Probably one of the best views you’ll get from a golf club Looks right out over Plymouth Sound And this is gorgeous Super quiet today as well So now going to keep going east Our next stop is we’re going to drop into a place called Forbrook which is just a little estry hamlet There’s only about three cottages there into Brixham onto Yampton and then down to Newton Ferris and Noser which is probably the most picturesque uh wateride villages on this on this route So uh got my breath back now So let’s let’s crack on [Music] So we’ve arrived in Yon This is a beautiful South Devon hamlet Grew up in this village for the first 20 years of my life It’s a very beautiful location There’s basically two things that Yampton’s pretty famous for One is Kitley House which was briefly a hotel owned by the bastards That’s the real name And uh they were the land owners in the village from like the 1500s when the house was built And the second thing it’s famous for is Old Mother Hubbet’s cottage from the nursery rhyme That’s actually a legitimate real cottage and it exists here in Yampton So since we’re here we’re going to go and take a look at it So no word of a lie This is Old Mother Hubbet’s cottage which is now known as Ming the Chinese takeaway But you can take my word for it This is legit old Mother Hubard’s cottage Of [Music] course the only problem with these South Deon hamlets is they do tend to be in valleys Before we can get to Newton Ferris we got to go right back up over onto the coast only to drop back into it again And uh that’s how these rides in Devon end up 30 mi with 2,000 ft And I mean this is not a hilly ride Uh this is an average ride And I do this loop quite a lot But uh I’m on the climb now I’m going to have to put you down because a there’s traffic and b I can’t breathe [Music] So we’ve just come through New Ferris and this is known as Bridge End This little spot and this is where the two villages meet So you’ve got Noso to the east and Ferris to the west And like I say this spot here this is known as Bridge End So we’re now going to climb back up to the coast So we’re going to go along this road here and climb all the way up through the village there to where the church is and then around the coast uh to Memberland Hey Hey Hey [Music] Heat Heat [Music] No [Music] So I’m going to take you a little bit off road for a road ride cuz I’m up to the coast I’m at a place called Memberland And uh there’s an old ruin on the coast path here known locally as the the tea house And uh it’s only a couple of minutes walk off the road but it’s an absolutely beautiful setting So uh I thought I’d take you guys down there so you can have a look at it Let’s go [Music] Heat Heat [Music] So this is the the old tea house ruin on the coast path This is one of my favorite places to come and you can see why It is truly a beautiful beautiful piece of coastline It’s all on the coast path so you can walk this But every time I come here it’s just me and there’s no one else here And look at it It’s stunning Absolutely stunning So as we’re looking down the coast there that next inlet is Mother Bee Mother Bay sorry with Mother Beach Just beyond that is Shalabra Beach The small island in the distance is Burr Island That’s at Big Bon Sea Beyond that is Bantham Beach Big surfer beaches These are for Devon in this area anyway And uh yeah like I say just absolutely glorious coastline [Music] [Applause] So I’m wrapping this ride up at Rockets and Rrestles on the Plymouth Barbec I didn’t bother filming the route back into Plymouth cuz I thought you’d have enough the traffic already But uh this is my well- earned breakfast stack which is a bit of a specialty down here This is a cycling cafe Pretty popular in Plymouth I hope you enjoyed the route today and um keep your eye out for the next one Give it a like if you enjoyed the video and subscribe on the link below
