I’ve had my Specialized Enduro w/ Ohlins TTX22M coil shock since 2022 and I’m getting some loose, chattery, clanky feeling in the rear end. Just started around September 2024. I need help diagnosing this issue and figured you guys might be able to help. Here are some things I’ve tried.

  • recently sent the shock for full service
  • tore down my suspension linkage, rebuilt according to Spec owners manual, including torque specs and greasing recs
  • checked that my coil collar was tight
  • took coil off shock, cleaned and light grease the collar and reinstalled
  • took headset bearings out, checked for cracks in headset area (none! Thank u jeezus)
  • checked under frame guard for cracks, none
  • no cracks that I see anywhere else in the bike
  • recent new derailleur, new cassette and new laced wheel with WeAreOne carbon hoop (old Dr Swiss hub). Not sure if any of that is correlated. Torqued drivetrain stuff to spec, and double checked my hanger was not loose.

When I ride through chunder I can feel it, but pedaling around on pavement it’s hard to tell. I’ve tried swapping shocks with a local bike shop’s enduro but didn’t have any stair sets nearby to test on. Inconclusive..

I thought it might be that switch flip? Can those wear out similar to bushings? It feels like a worn out plastic bushing, where you can tap the rear wheel on top of the tire and hear/feel a thunk through the whole bike. Moving tire side to side or hitting on the side doesn’t produce the sound, only on the top.

Thanks! you lovely riders
