take a look around the far turn guys okay you can see Sovereignty actually following journalism he had made that middle move to get up in behind him as they came around the turn at the top of the stretch it’s Sovereignty on the outside journalism on the inside slight edge to journalism at this point but Sovereignty has his has him in his sights and he’s slowly grinding him down and then drawing away in the final 16th of a mile just a nice ride by Junior Alvarado who gets his first Kentucky Derby was hurt about a month and a half ago didn’t know if he’d get back in time he certainly did and thank God he did we’ve said it before and it’s worth saying again there’s no better trainer in America at circling a date on the calendar and having a horse ready for a peak effort on that date and Bill Ma has done it

  1. Owen Almighty impressed me by the way he hung tough at the end for fifth. He's probably more like a classy miler or sprinter. If that was my horse, I'd be very proud of him. The winner, of course, was marvelous!

  2. They really need to extend the time in between Triple Crown races!!! I don't watch horseracing except for the Kentucky Derby and then I root on the winner to hopefully get a chance at the Triple Crown. Not gonna be watching the Preakness because Sovereignty isn't running. Gotta think of the horses! Two weeks in between is not enough some times! Make it three or four in between and most will run. It sucks because I love when Triple Crown is possible come Belmont week, but now for the 7th time in a row, no chance! Oh well.

  3. If handsome boy hit the Preakness, I hope he can sprint. His only hope as a closer is wire to wire. If not, he will smash the Belmont out of the park.

  4. If you would paid attention All three top horses had raced less than the others ( they were others) and they were my top three!
The rest of the owners and trainers they ran their horses too much prior to derby!

Pay attention next year, good luck in 2026 !

  5. Great Derby for me I thought Journalism was my 1 Sovereignty was 1A I had Baeza & Final Gambit as my next two horses I had $50 exacta box , $2 super $5 tri and also caught the p5 for .50 great Derby for me
