The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. People crowd Stonehenge and see the stunning sunrise. Not us, we try and cycle the width of the South of England in an epic coast-to-coast ride. 207 miles with a predicted heatwave, can we complete Chase the Sun and get to Weston Super Mare by sunset?

Huge thanks to STYRKR and Nopinz for the ongoing support; without their support, this event wouldn’t have been possible. Huge shoutout to @corebikefit also for bike setup and Quoc shoes.

tomorrow we’re going to chase the sun [Music] we are 4 days out from Chase the Sun and I have no bike um yeah just heading down to Core Bike Shop now to hopefully fit a new rear derailia because after 30,000 km my original one has died great just what I need on week of ch but hopefully we’re all sorted so um head down now cut the bike and then I can finally guess prep for Saturday um so yeah here we go so it is Friday the 20th and it’s time to head up bike is locked and loaded kit is locked and loaded some friends are going out to get the support van later on and then we’re making our way up to Citizen Born where we’re staying and well no actually hopefully the sun will be chasing us we’ll get there before the sun overtakes us but uh we’ll see um that’s the aim and then hopefully the weather stays all right and we can have a a ride back to Except from Western the day after so um yeah first time doing the event it’s not a race it’s a ride it’s it’s That’s one of the main mottos that the organizers here at home and yeah it’s about supporting each other and that’s what we’re doing on this trip so yeah let’s go and cycle 207 miles in a heat wave temperature is already climbing it’s really warm so a quick stop to Topshop for a pre-event haircut and um that’s all sorted breakfast is done let’s hit the road [Music] mike’s ready locked and loaded all sorted let’s get going sleep time we’re all set it’s time to get some sleep it’s about 20 past 9 few more faffy bits and then we’re there but kit is ready bottles are ready shoes are ready bag is packed to go in the van for tomorrow and that will not be seen until Western Super and hopefully we’ve beaten the sun and we’ve had a fish and chips and a drink or two then we’ll be settling in to cycle back home on Sunday that is the plan it’s been a long day 7 hours in the van long trip traffic was awful but we’re here we’ve eaten quick shower bed tomorrow we’re going to go and chase the sun [Music] [Applause] so a few of us decided to ride out there wasn’t room in the support van for all of us so six of us I think it was took the 10mi ride to the start line and I’m glad we did because look at these views now we arrived at the start line sort of 20 minutes half an hour early so we got in the the queue and we were lucky enough to see the sunrise that was until a tanker boat got in the way so then once it sailed out the way we got to see the sun actually rise and with that we started the 2025 chase the sun south 207 miles to go across the width of the south of England and we’re off heat heat we’ve made it into London it’s definitely warming up but we’re taking them off 90k in Palace so in London and I was riding with Harry and then we got separated some lights so now I I’ve been on my own for about 20 minutes but it’s fine i’ve got the route and we’re regrouping I guess at the next view zone so let’s get going joys of London traffic now this is a cycle so we’re halfway through Hampshire basically and we’re almost at the halfway point and some food much needed food almost 100 miles in halfway tipped over 97 milesi to go we’re on the second leg getting going and yeah the sun has gone in but feeling good we are 215k in and this is the point in rides like this where heads start to go down and things turn from physical to mental and struggles come in this is the important part on doing a ride like this cuz you get through this and then you you know you’re you’re on to the finish and um it’s just important to keep ticking cuz you know at this certain stage get to the top of Cheddar on this route and once you’re there sailing so if you keep chipping away and set micro goals then um you’ll definitely succeed and um you can’t see the sun but we are ahead of schedule so um yeah everyone on the ride all 8 9,000 people I absolutely smashing it and it’s great to see and it’s great to be doing an event and not thinking about my average speed and power and just nice supporting others so and the views ain’t too bad either so uh yeah just keep chipping away the infamous light let’s have a go 20% climb done out onto the little village next step pretty and then we’re downhill down through each cha and then west of Super the temperatur dropped off a bit it’s a very cold 25° but sun’s still out we’re still chasing it we’re going to make it sun is setting shadow Gorge we’re coming for you [Applause] [Applause] area bravo heat you got to be done is that it [Music] what a finish [Applause] [Music] western Superman bear chase the sun done what a day long day out hot 31°ree heat wave is probably not the best time to be doing that but we all did it it had its moments and um yeah maybe do another one maybe uh so yeah thanks for watching hit that like and subscribe button make sure you hit that bell icon there’s some more big events coming up so um yeah 3 weeks the next big one so time to recover and go again but what an event and um definitely glad we done it check out chases sun.co.uk and get yourself involved what a day
