Day 2 of the French Alps Road Trip – Bourges to Gorges du Tarn via the Viaduc du Millau.
Started the day after a sumptuous breakfast at my motel. After filling fuel, I hit the highway and rode for the next 300 Kms for a little over 3 hours. Finally stopping for fuel for both me and the bike. After a relaxed break, I was back on the highway and around 100 Kms later I reached a highway pitstop just before the Viaduc du Millau.
Temperatures were already soaring, to take matters worse the viewpoint from the rest stop was a 10 minute uphill hike. Huffing and puffing I was finally up there looking at directly a dream that started as teenager when the Viaduc was first opened to the public after construction.
After a longish break, I was back on the road and this time to ride on the Viaduc and then below it getting off the high speed highways. It felt great to finally see some real twisties and ride at a much slower pace. After a couple of photo stops under the Viaduc, I rode toward the town of Millau along the river Tarn. Finally reaching the start of the Gorges du Tarn. But this was short-lived as I soon reached my campsite.
