jb [Music] welcome back everyone you join me today on the way to a one of Nottingham’s hidden gems with people on the bicycle scene and if you’re old as I am you’ll remember this very well from the 80s it’s the old Well it’s not yeah this is the old BMX track nottingham Outlaws bmx track situated in the bull wall part in Nottingham the top end it’s been there since 1982 and I do believe it’s one of the oldest BMX tracks still used today for racing and generally kids playing on it and there’s a big kid on his way now to go and play on it good morning welcome back today we’re in a part of Nottingham part of historic Nottingham we’re a bit another BMX track this time top end of the city nottingham Outlaws BMX track established in 1982 the longest running BMX track in the country and it’s I must admit in excellent condition [Music] it’d be rude not to [Music] last time I rode one of these was in 19 early 1980s thinking I was someone from ET right let’s get it done the starting be on the starting grid and it would say riders ready pedals ready go woohoo [Music] whoa [ __ ] hell yes sir come on you [Music] all right [Music] [Applause] [Music] holy [ __ ] if I’m going down that too old for that [ __ ] mate [Music] you forgot how fit you need to be for this when you’re a teenager you don’t think [Music] in your late late 50s trying to act like a teenager no something’s got to give right i’ll have one more go [Music] how good was that too old for it I must admit but wow I fully recommend that not for I’m not a teenager anymore i’m an old man but that was good if you ever in the top end of Boo come on this is mint really is part of Nottingham’s history 1982 not your mile brilliant [Music] right so we have some fun down the lane see what dog walker we can fall out with today [Music] we’re just leaving the BMX track absolutely brilliant almost made too old for that and them banks like being in a valid drrome still have BMX meets there awesome the track is the track is in excellent condition as well brilliant well maintained well done [Music] right let’s go down the side of the lean bull box behind the trees there little water park for the kids when the sun’s out be absolutely buzzing later and the riverine [Music] we’ll be following that all the way down little gravel track [Music] i’ve never rode this [Music] so it’s the first time for everything there’s a path that side as well [Music] dog walker [Music] oh there’s a bridge all right i didn’t know that there we are side of lean let’s hope there’s no crazy birds today come on Mr pigeon work boy [Music] this is a path side of the lean as you can see just goes on for miles it’s hard to think this is in ball it just shows you don’t have to ride the roads can ride the paths in about 6 weeks got the glorious gravel Sherwood pines i’ve opted for the short route there’s three long medium short i’m not ashamed to admit it i’ve gone for the short 37 miles they say 37 milesi you’ll end up doing 40 start at Shure Pines go all the way out gravel i did it early in the year in March got punched for a dampener on the day i thought it was my own fault really i went tubes instead of tubeless cuz [Music] I thought it would be better i won’t punch her six miles out from finishing got a puncher and for some reason a tire want to inflate lost time or a downer on the day and therefore I’m coming back i’ll be tubeless i’ll be ready you guys will be coming along for the ride so that’s in the beginning of July sherwood Pines Glorious Gravel to the right [Music] paul Wan sorry batesford United Football Club [Music] stunning dog walker [Music] morning traum stop [Music] i’ve never rode this i must have said it must have been very pleasant very nice couple of joggers or ring me bell lovely don’t even know where this path goes to we’ll just follow it to the end i’ve got all day the infamous base crossings when they break down you know about it and we got to do a shout out today to a Nottingham football facilities [Music] park basketball [Music] pictures oh a little uh a training then so really there’s no excuse for people not getting out and walking around i’ll be on here this afternoon walking the boys two laps around there walking around getting the exercise right let’s go to RVaden here we are another gem in North Nottingham cycle path boy it’s a circuit circuit where British cycling old events a lot of race vents up here it’s 1.2 2 miles long and we’re going to ride it come on let’s go like I say British cycling uses a lot i don’t really use it for testing the races but they’re always up here i’ve heard rumors that the Kenny’s were up here three or four year ago with the teams the British GB teams for a two-day training session but don’t quote me on it i know a few guys that work on here this has a few Olympians are up here and wife team training training young one young racers [Music] knox Athletic Club behind there is athletics track this time of the year is school schools athletic state in that building there is a swimming pool olympic size [Music] yeah there’s everything up there brilliant [Music] i’ll bend the cob birds off right bone Island it’s called Bone Island top of Bishaw Road but it’s shaped like a bone so we nicknamed it Bone Island another interesting fact or a boring one what time is it 8:00 Gregs are up come on kids let’s go get Sunday dinner that’s another tradition that’s gone now sunday lunch admittedly my kids are all grown up now leaving home me and Mrs don’t see no point anymore and when they all together we have Sunday lunch but they’re off doing their own things now [Music] leaving the nest spreading the wings good luck to him we’ll see what welcome I get from my voice yeah bit of music on the headphones aftershocks brought by my son years ago even though you can hear your tunes you can still hear what’s coming up behind you and my Garmin beeping the radar telling me things behind me come
