Day 56. 16 October 2022. The Ciro Trail is beginning, at this juncture to present its true face and soon I’ll plunge into a series of unlit, rough surfaced, tunnels with my headlamp blazing. I do not advise this section in particular, many miles, on a heavily laden touring bike. A hard-tail mountain bike would be ideal, large format tires (minimum 40-43 mm) on a gravel bike in the absence of a lot of weight would also be nimble. I fyou can ride this trail comfortavbly from start to finish then you’ll really have a spectacular experience, it’s wilderness most of the way but of course beware of unexploded land mines, many in this area, stay on the trail.
