there is no doubt about it that Ryan in top spec components is a nice and pleasant experience to have but what are the components within those group sets that are actually making the difference can you tell with the cranks the derailleurs or the cassettes no absolutely not what is making the difference are the main contact points on your bikes in terms of the group sets well that’s the neighborhoods here their shape and how the brakes and the gears feel to use foreign

  1. I'm riding a deore M6100 and I just upgraded the chain to the XTR/Dura-Ace M9100 chain and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that I couldn't tell the difference. All I know is it's built stronger so the peace of mind is enough for me.

  2. “If you got it, flaunt it” yeh, if you got $$$, go super record/ DA, the accuracy/ weight is great, but for us mere mortals just get what you can afford, I been riding a $300 microshift 1x all year and love it.

  3. Crankset will make a difference. Considering that there is 379 grams saving from dura ace to sora. That's almost an entire lb. Other place i can think is wheelset. And tires. You can save about a lb there as well

  4. Wrong, going from mechanical derailleurs to electronic ones make a huge difference. Also going from an 10 or 11 speed cassette/crank combo to an 12 speed one is also huge.

  5. Seatpost seatpost seatpost seatpost seatpost seatpost seatpost seatpost 🥳🥳

Changing/upgrading to a carbon seatpost , especially if its an aluminium frame makes a world of difference.

  6. Low spec derailleurs use bushings on the jockey wheels, durable-ace use bearings and if you’re really fancy you can get ceramic bearings. Law of diminishing returns though. I just run dura-ace jockeys on a tiagra derailleurs, and that works pretty well for me! 😊

  7. Long, long ago, Greg Lemond was asked why he spent big money on Carnac shoes (~50% more than Sidi). He said that his bike is his office so since he spends hours there, he wanted to be as comfortable as possible. He stressed the contact points with the body were very important.

  8. For me being comfortable on my bike is number one, all contact points must be perfect, it’s not hard to set your bike up properly, if you’re a strong rider, there’s no reason to spend thousands of dollars on stupid, lighter components

  9. Aways get new bearings, hubs and tires where they wear out. Make sure you're always comfortable when reaching the handle bars.
If the leavers fit into your hands, snug, and your ass is really stable on the saddle, that's when you stop riding a bike and start cycling.

  10. There’s no reason why all grouosets can’t work as precisely as each other and feel great to use. The only thing that’s fair to charge more for is lightweight. Why should an ergonomic hood shape be reserved for top line sets???
