The Bideford Station platforms were cut in half when they raised the bridge for the Tarka Trail after the railway was closed. The platforms used to extend over a bridge to the Royal Hotel.
[Music] these platforms are an extension of the main platforms and this bridge was lower and it obviously accommodated two tracks somebody posted an old photo of it looking that way and you can see it the platforms just extended onwards so that bridge was raised to allow for um vehicles you know high trucks and stuff so there you go didn’t as such have its own platform so the platform would have gone over the old bridge so it would have been quite a wide bridge to accommodate two tracks and two platforms there you go keep on learning check out my video where I went into Bifford a couple of weeks ago if you want to find out more about the Royal Hotel and the long medieval bridge and also the other railway that ran the other side of the river for a short while i’m going to go cuz my uncle [Music] Back there heat heat [Music]
