Context: I rode for the second time today on a legit MTB trail on vaca in south fork, CO. I rode 1 other time in Texas on some intermediate trails and did fine. Today I rode the 5.3 beaver mountain trail/ FS 933. It said it was intermediate.

So I had to push my bike .25 miles up a chunky 22% grade but rode everything else with several breaks to allow my disc brakes to cool down. A lot of the downhill was 14-28% grade downhill about half chunky and half pretty smooth and I was wondering if this was normal? I completed it and came out fine and had a blast but made me second guess getting myself into something in the middle of the mountains by myself and if this was a good move or not.

I know I’m new to MTB but I was curious if you think I’m good to continue trying new trails in CO or just wait till I get back to Texas where the stakes are much lower?
