when I’m cycling around London I feel free i feel like I belong here and I’m just grateful for it aurora is one of 670 refugee and migrant women who have learned to cycle through the bike project’s pedal power program for many like her a bike isn’t just transport it’s freedom confidence and connection when people first come they’re usually on their own they’re a bit shy they’re a bit quiet um but each week you can just see their confidence lift and their personality come out which is really beautiful facing isolation poverty and a hostile asylum process systemic change is vital but refugees need practical support now and cycling offers real immediate benefits through pedal power the bike project is helping women take control of their journeys on and off the
