This is quite complex. Sometimes I am a little bit lost for words in just how beautiful Austria is. Especially fuschl, which is where I’m staying. Unfortunately, I was a little bit sick over the weekend and the start of the week. But I feel it a lot better now. I did a long run today that I’m definitely a little bit sore from. But yeah, exactly in today, two weeks until Red Bull raised the sun. This video is going to be a little bit different. Tomorrow, Matthias, some people would remember him from when he did Geelong, 70.3. He lives in Austria with his partner, Alex. And we’re going to go for a little bit of a climb. Now, originally he said a hike, but it is a climb. So, not sure how we’re going to go. But I’m going to take you guys along with me because that is going to be my cross-training for tomorrow. I might do a little bit of a swim in the morning or a bike. And then I’ll do a long ride on Sunday. But I’m going to take you guys through my weekend with me. You know, this place is absolutely stunning when you just turn the camera 180 degrees and you could have just shot the other way as well. So, I did just shoot the intro, but I couldn’t in good faith not show you guys this view. And now I’m just enjoying the view. What about you guys? I’m from Australia. Yeah. Yeah. Are you from here? Oh, okay. Yeah. Lovely to meet you. I’ll see you guys around. Also, everyone here is like super duper lovely. I’ll catch you guys tomorrow when we start preparing for this hike. Sorry, this climb because it’s not a hike. It is well and truly a climb. Another thing I just wanted to quickly say was don’t underestimate the Austrian sun. Yo, yo, yo. Safety first, content second. And Alex is going to tell us what we’re doing. Right. So we climb up the wall today. It’s called the dragon wall or in German it’s the Drachenwand And these are your two main carabiners for safety. And you need to know how to handle them. So if you normally try to push that one in, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t open, you know? So you always need to push that one first and then you can open it. All right. Nice and tight. And then you just clip them in the same way on either side, either left or right, whatever you prefer. There you go. That one’s probably better because that one’s a bit at the back. What’s this one for though? Just for your, like if you need to take a rest, that one doesn’t stretch. So these one’s stretch. Gotcha. And if you just want to hang in there and take a rest, you always use that one. That’s what I’ll be doing. Piece of piss. Good. Dap it up. And don’t forget your gloves. Oh yeah, where are they? I’m bad at this. It’s great fun. Whoa, how’d you get up there? How’s your climbing going, mate? Good. Are you scared about the snakes? Nope. Not scared of snakes in Australia. I’m scared of bees though. Bees are like my thing. Yeah, hate bees. Can’t do bees. Have you heard the news today? There was a crash on the highway with a truck full of bees. What? Yeah, they were set free. It was like three and a half million. That would be my actual worst nightmare. Let’s show the Aussie guy, Austria. This looks awesome from up here, huh? It’s easy. Ha ha! Let’s go. Yeah. Waiting on you, mate. This is quite complex. Yeah, now, it gets interesting up here. Yeah, it’s like a straight line. Okay. Keep going. Yeah. Like if you’re like walking the bridge in an FPV drone, like, it comes down like, shh. That’d be cool. So cool. Awesome! So cool. A crocodile. Yeah, there’s a 15 metre crocodile in the lake. Oh yeah. This is crazy. How ya going? How’s the hike trackin’? Good, good. Brody’s almost up to summit. Now last storm to the summit. Nearly done. Our guide. How you feeling? Good and you? Feeling great. Are you motivated to do it again? Yep. Everest next time. Sounds awesome. 551m of elevation I’ve got a thousand metres of elevation. Have you? Good job. Good job. He did it. He did it. From there, up there. The whole way. He struggled on the down hill. He made it. His knees are shaking. My knees are shaking. Knees no good. Now he’s ready for the mountain everest. Alex is like, no he’s not. Alright, so this morning we’re gonna go through a little bit of a ride. Vlogging the intro. Did you film yourself putting on your jersey? Yep. Yeah, it’s not a Ryzon jersey. Yeah, it’s not Ryzon. You don’t have to bring this. It would be like just vlog with the chest wrap. I’ll just chest wrap. Yeah, just do that. Oh, this is so outstretched. Are you in pain? No, it’s just very far forward. Brody needs some bike fitting here before he’s able to ride a bike. I rode, ride Ellie’s trek once. I just have to try and copy the bike measurements from her. Yeah, right. I’ll probably do the T100 next year in Gold Coast. Why did my Wahoo turn off? My Wahoo just died. The sound of music. Brody will hate me after today. It’s endurance training. Austrian mountains. This hill doesn’t end. Oh yeah, never ending. What does the locals say? We’ve been pushin’ like 400 watts for like the last 20 minutes. I would’ve broke all my power outputs today. Sweating. Don’t tell me it’s still going. Oh, cooked. So now we’ve made it to Salzburg. Yeah, Brody’s riding here. He’s craving for some food. And let’s see if we will find a coffee shop. He’s a little bit sore from the ride so far, but yeah, let’s introduce him to the beautiful Salzburg right now. What do you think so far? Yeah, it’s amazing. I love this place. What do you take out? One L and an A, Australia, Austria, enroute for some coffee. Because Matt lied to me. He said it was gonna be a two hour ride. It’s been two and a half hours and we just got to Salzburg. Chaos, chaos in the streets of Salzburg today. Hi, welcome to your coffee place. The most fanciest coffee place in Salzburg. 220 degrees. Yeah, it’s normal for Brody because you see a couple of coffee shops in Melbourne, but it’s probably one of the fanciest ones. Yeah, let’s get some refuel. Yeah, that’s yum. My quads are already burning. Thank you. Coffee review. Cheers. Oh it’s good. It’s a pretty dark roast, I would say from Brazil not Peru. It’s good. Obviously better than the rest of the coffee shops here in Salzburg. Yeah. The cakes are great. This one’s awesome. I have to send some coffee to Australia, I guess. Yeah, we’ll try it at the hotel. We just had coffee and now Brody’s taking a caffeine gel. Because he’s scared about the way back. So he had now, I think he, because double espresso for Brody, flat white with a double shot and now a caffeine gel. Brody will not sleep well tonight. I’ll sleep like a baby with how much we’ve done in the last 12 hours. Brody will be done after that weekend. Brody survived. How was it Brody? It was good in the end. Had no legs at the start for two hours, aye? After the coffee and a bit of cake. Yeah, the coffee. I don’t think we dropped 300 milligrams of caffeine. An hour. Yeah. Because Brody was slowing me down so I have to add an hour. Yeah, I was slowing him down actually. The hair’s a bit everywhere, but I finished off after that ride with swim after it. But yeah, my knees were absolutely cooked from the hike. So first half the ride was a bit tough, but thanks for watching. Thanks for Matthias and Alex for the wonderful weekend. I’ll get one more vlog out before Red Bull Race the sun. But yeah, I’ll get another vlog done this weekend. And then I’ll see you guys for Red Bull Race the sun in just over a week. So thanks for watching. See you guys soon.

  1. As a guy from Germany i'm glad your enjoying our Alps. Love all the videos from Austria so far. With what were you filming the climbing scenes?

  2. As someone who has worked and lived in Austria for a year, it is my favourite place in the world. People are genuine. Winter and Summer are so different yet both special in their own way. One would believe you are in too different locations. I'm glad they make it difficult to become a resident. Protects / preserves the countries authenticity

  3. Awesome to see you're having such a great time here Brody especially since the weather was sooo terrible!! I e-mailed you about possibly meeting up, don't know if you've seen, maybe I can still catch you before you leave. Although I have a feeling you'll be back to Austria some day anyways☺

  4. Wow incredible footage 😍 next time you are in a country next to Germany I will try to stop by to say hi. Would not have been brave enough to do this climb 😯 wow
