hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking from a very sunny Colmar in the northeast of France where Easter is going to creep up on us That’s next week actually Now if any of you have seen my video three, four years ago when I started off here on my trip through France I did not show you much about on Colmar that time but I’m here to make some amends and I expect quite a few nice Easter bunnies in the city cuz they’re very hot on on decorations here So let’s find out So there you go: Colmar never fails to amaze Beautiful colors can really tell that nature is way up ahead from from the Netherlands really Maybe 2 to four weeks cuz yeah so many flowers Lovely Ah this is cool 5 minutes out outside of the city center and we get this a cycle path here Zone de Silence Okay should shut up then Well we’re in the middle of a silent
zone Nice Only birds So yeah I’m on my way to Neuf-Brisach which is a very little town so about 20k from Colmar And it’s on the UNESCO World Heritage list as well because of the
the work of Vauban And Vauban used to be the architect pretty much of all major defense works that Louis the 14th created in his time in the 18th century And this was one of the last one he made and one of the well maybe best preserved or his best works I can’t really remember but we’ll see what we can find about that beautiful little town All right on y va! this is pretty cool I have to say Nice Lot of artwork here Always a good idea to mix that with history I think Oh what’s this ? This is so lovely made Look at all this artwork here Well already I know these defense works are massive It’s a small town I think it now houses 2,000 people or so So it probably shouldn’t have been more back in the day but yay All right let’s see what’s around the corner Oh wow How cool is this? So a bit of fighting going on Hope it’s in good spirits europa sonore Wow How cool Wow Look at the scale of this So I’m guessing this depicts a 18th century garden See what it says on the sign Maybe it says do not walk in the garden? right Okay This is how they think a garden set up by Vauban would have looked like around 1700 Ah that’s nice Good work I love what they’re doing here lots of things for youth to do and to learn Seems like Europe has to get appraised about how to to make defense works again unfortunately Oh well let’s forget politics and start cycling again Right What an absolute lovely little town this is And we have an elephant and I think I saw a monkey over there So you
can very much ride or walk all through the defence works and I recommend you do Beautiful Love what they done here All right let’s slowly make our way from Neuf-Brisach back to Colmar So yeah that’s the plan It’s not much of a plan today but hey sometimes those are the best See you Quite a lovely city gate So it says here there’s only four gates to the city as they were considered and of course should be weak points in the defense works Well read for yourself It will make sense I’m not going to cite everything for you Wow that’s a very nice little outing to Neuf-Brisach, neuf of course means new cuz there used to be another town called Breisach in Germany and I think as I didn’t necessarily trust the neighbors the French put up neuf-Brisach as defense works back in the day So right back to Colmar and hopefully a coffee See you Right, I think I’m heading over to the north side of Colmar alongside a river for a little bit and then we can have another look at the Statue of Liberty because yeah we’re in the birthplace of Bartholdi All right on y va Wow What’s not to love Slight tailwind This route ,20° in April Yeah I’m loving it Fantastic Here we are again: The Statue of Liberty and his maker August Bartholdi So I hope to be able to visit the museum either later today or omorrow And there she is Well I think it’s a good moment to add Lady Liberty to the video We – it seems- we have to defend democracy again or even harder than we already do cuz yeah that’s my opinion Anyway as always thanks for watching Enjoy your rides and stay safe out there See you later au revoir, salut
