#Hanevear #fatbike #veloelectrique
Hello, hello fans of urban mobility! Welcome to the YouTube channel of the web magazine le vélourbain.com. Today, I’m talking to you about a folding or foldable fat bike type electric bike. We’re testing quite a few at the moment with a 250 W motor. And this bike is the Hanevear H6-S. Again… Oh no, born outside! So, it’s a 20-inch bike that can be unbridled up to 45 km/h, with a little throttle lever to boot. So, obviously, only to be used on closed terrain, otherwise, police, police! You even have turn signals on this bike and in terms of autonomy, it’s sold to do 80 km. Listen, I think we’ll do it without any problem. In any case, that’s what we’re going to try to find out today. That’s why, in this video, I suggest we take a look at its features together, its unboxing, go through it in detail, and test it on the road and on any trail. And at the end, I’ll give you my opinion and my conclusion. Here we go, generic! Before getting into the heart of the matter, I remind you that all my test videos are chaptered. And yes, if you go to the navigation bar on your YouTube player, you can see the chapters, that is to say the intro, the unboxing, the characteristics, the pros, the cons, the brakes, etc. This allows you to quickly navigate through the video if you ever want to know something very specific. And if not, you can also find the whole list in the description below. It will save you time. That’s the little information. Okay, just to know who we’re dealing with, let’s talk about its main characteristics. We have a rear wheel motor, and the bike is available in champagne, blue or gray. Here, I have the blue one, which is a matte blue. It’s quite nice. The bike comes with a throttle, as I told you earlier. It’s up to you whether you use it or not. It’s suitable for a person between 1.67 and 1.95 m, who can weigh up to 180 kg, which is huge. And at the same time, it’s normal given the large welds on this bike and the large frame structure. The bike weighs 37 kg, which makes it a nice big guy. And you have turn signals on this bike, that’s great! As I speak, it’s June 2025. The bike is available for €1249, which is not expensive at all for this kind of bike. Plus, you currently have a €100 discount, but thanks to me and the brand, you also have a discount code that will allow you to save a few extra euros. I’ll put the link in the description below. Here we have a bike that’s super easy to step over. So, it can be used by everyone, those with reduced mobility, ladies who wear skirts, and frankly, I like bikes like that, at least ones that are super easy to step over. So , we really have a bike that suits everyone. Then, we have a 60651 aluminum frame reinforced by heat treatment, and it’s 175 cm long. You have plastic front and rear mudguards . I always say it, but I prefer plastic to aluminum, it’s lighter and in gravel, it makes less noise. You have a front basket that’s cute, right, on which you can put a few small things. So, it’s a small basket, right, you can just put a few kilos on it. Don’t bother putting a dog or a pack of water, that won’t work. You also have a rear rack on which you can put your panniers or a child seat. That’s really good, it makes it a real work bike. For example, I put my photo and video gear on it, so it’s very practical, knowing that I think it can support a load of up to 25 kg with this type of rack. You also have inserts to attach a water bottle holder or a lock. So there, it’s cool, they put the water bottle holder. It’s the first time I’ve had a water bottle holder on a bike of this type. So, listen, it’s not great quality, but in any case, it deserves to exist and I think it’s really good. And finally, we have a very classic kickstand. Those are the main features. And hold your screen while I have your full attention. You know that 80% of you watch my videos without subscribing. So, without further ado, Don’t hesitate, subscribe. Likewise, if you find the video interesting, don’t hesitate to like it. It’s the little thumb below, it costs nothing for you, but for me it favors the YouTube algorithm which will more easily put this video and the channel forward. And that’s what will allow me to create more and more content for you. So, in advance, I thank you. Now unboxing. So, when you receive the bike, you receive it in a huge box that weighs 45 kg. So, I can tell you that to carry it, you need to have big muscles and I really had trouble carrying it alone. So, inside, you obviously have the bike which is ultra well protected and the bike which is already folded. So, it’s quite funny. And you also have all the accessories that go well. So, you have the front rack, the tools, the throttle, the mirrors, and yes, you have mirrors with this bike, the water bottle holder, a smartphone holder, a bell, and a storage pouch, you see, that I installed here, which goes there. Which is not bad at all. Uh, same thing, I hadn’t had that on bikes before, I think it’s pretty smart. You even have instructions in French, but you get the idea, it’s up to you to finish assembling the bike and putting in a few components. So, I reassure you, it was done ultra quickly. It took me 15 minutes, I think, to finish assembling the bike. So, you should get through it without any problems. That’s it for the unboxing. Before going to test the bike, you obviously have to charge the battery. And here, we have a lithium-ion battery with Samsung cells, and that ‘s a real guarantee of quality. So, the battery is 48V and 24 amps. To do this, you need to connect it to the charger, which is 3 amps and 48V. Either you do it directly on the battery by turning the little cap and plugging in the charger, or you remove the battery. And to do this, you need to lift the saddle using the little lever. Be careful with the seatpost clamp, you need to shift it properly. You put the key in the battery, which is also used to start the bike. Hey, I didn’t tell you this, but for the bike to work, you have to leave the key on the battery and put it in the on position. Don’t worry, the key holds very well, you won’t lose it. But to remove the battery, you turn it, the key completely, and you remove the battery using the little lever. And like that, you can take the battery home or to your work and recharge it quietly. On the other hand, it’s not a great charger. So tell yourself that it will take at least 8 hours to fully recharge the bike, which is relatively long. Hey, so don’t hesitate to do it after your ride, after your bike to work, and always wait until your battery is completely cold before recharging it. You ‘ll make it last longer. Here’s the information about the battery. As usual, I’m going to talk to you about the comfort of the bike. At the front, we have an oil- filled suspension fork with an adjustable spring with 60 mm of travel. So you see the fork, so if I hit hard, I can go all the way and so I feel like I’m hitting the lamp. So that ‘s not great. In the middle of the frame, we don’t have any suspension, but we do have a spring-loaded seatpost , and that’s not bad at all. Plus, the saddle also has its own springs. Then, we have 20-inch x 4 Harrison tires. But they don’t have a reflective strip to be seen at night. It’s a bit of a shame. Luckily, you have the reflectors. On the other hand, you wo n’t be able to go too much in the mud with them. On the other hand, they’re still fat bike tires. Then, we have an ultra-wide saddle. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a saddle this wide, but listen, on the other hand, it’s ultra comfortable. Plus, it has its own shock absorbers underneath. It ‘s supple. Honestly, you can’t do much better. It’s really super comfortable and what’s more, there’s gel inside. And finally, we have the cuffs. Now, on the other hand, these are the most basic cuffs that exist. That’s really a shame. I would have liked to have ergonomic cuffs. These are basic plastic grips from Basic. So that, It’s a real shame. So, comfort-wise, it’s still more than adequate, but hey, a central shock absorber and better grips would have been better. Anyway, what’s it like? Well , listen, of all this type of bike, it goes absolutely everywhere, whether on gravel, dirt, forest paths, a real joy. I’m not going to dwell on it. The bike is suitable both in the city and in the countryside, on all types of terrain: grass, gravel, but not muddy paths because of these tires. As I told you earlier , the tires are still relatively smooth. But what a joy, what a blast to ride this bike! I’m really a fan of it. And the suspensions, they work well too, eh, whether on the saddle or at the front fork. So the feel, it’s more than validated. In terms of riding position, as you can see, I have a super upright position, and that’s because I can adjust the height of my stem and also the angle of the handlebars. So I have a very urban position. You won’t hurt your back on your rides or going to work. And that’s the most important thing, without forgetting that you can also adjust the seat height. I say this because that’s not the case with all bikes. And let’s talk about the cockpit. We have a large straight handlebar that’s 67 cm. We obviously have the grips we talked about earlier , the brake levers with which you can brake with two or three or four fingers, which also cut the power to the motor. So, these are good hydraulic brake levers. So be careful, the brake levers are reversed. That is to say, the right brake is the front brake and the left brake is the rear brake. In France, we’re more used to seeing the rear brake on the right. So pay attention to that. It’s important to point this out. We have a first controller that allows you to activate the right turn signal and the left turn signal. Because yes, you have turn signals on this bike. Listen, they deserve to exist. What’s a bit of a shame is that you activate them, but you don’t hear them. You don’t get a little noise that tells you if you’ve put the turn signal on. So, once you’ve put them on, you have to remember to turn them off. And with the button below, you can turn the front headlight and the rear light on or off. The front headlight is no frills and it lights up really well. Plus, it’s directional. Then, we have the second controller that allows you to turn the bike on or off. With it, you can also change your five assistance levels with the plus and minus button and with the top right button. You can change the display on your screen of your total mileage, your trip mileage, etc., etc. By holding down on me, you activate the walk assist mode. This is what makes the bike go by itself up to 6 km/h. And in the middle, we have our very nice color LCD screen on which you can see your battery charge, your speed, your power, your assistance level. And as I told you earlier, you can see your total mileage, your trip mileage, your maximum speed, your average speed and that’s it. In addition, under this display, we have a USB port to charge your smartphone. And I love that, because it happened to me to run out of battery for my smartphone, and thanks to my bike, I can charge it. We also have a real bell and not a big scooter horn. So that’s really good. And finally, on the right, we have our 7-speed Shimano shifter as well as our throttle. That’s for the cockpit. And this motor, then? Well, listen, we have a 250W rear wheel motor. So it’s a 48V, 65Nm of torque approved bike. It’s paired with a speed or cadence sensor. So it’s not a torque sensor, so it’s also a lazy bike, because the motor will start as soon as it understands that you’re pedaling. So, you don’t even have to push hard on the pedals to be able to ride this bike. So, that’s what I call a lazy bike. Knowing that you can also ride just, you know, with the throttle. I don’t even have to pedal, but I’ll say it again, It’s also forbidden in France. It’s associated with Shimano 7-speed derailleurs turned TZ, without derailleur protection unfortunately, it’s a bit of a shame. So, without assistance, what’s it like? Listen, it’s not completely crazy. So, the bike is heavy, eh. Honestly, I ride at 10 km/h, so it can be done. As soon as I put assistance 1, it ‘s a little better. Already, I reach 13 km/h. Assistance 2, I reach 17 km/h. Assistance 3, I reach my 19 km/h. Assistance 4, 20 km/h, it’s super progressive. And assistance 5, there, my 25 km/h without problem. So, uphill, what’s it like? Well, obviously, you can imagine that with a bike like that, I manage to climb my famous Médon hills without any problem. So, I take it up to 20 km/h with ease. So we have a very powerful motor, a battery like that. I didn’t have too many doubts about that, but now, the test is more than conclusive. You can really climb great hills with this bike. So you can also do them in the mountains, in the countryside. That’s really a real positive point. So, what is the top speed of this bike? Listen, I put it on 50, we’ll see. I’m going to push it hard. So, I’m already 23, 25, 27, 30, 34, 35, 40, 45, 46. Wow! I’m going to stop there. It’s awesome, huh. You really have to do that on a closed road. In terms of standing start, how long does it take me to reach 25 km/h? So, I’m going to put it in gear 5, assistance 5. I’m going to stand there. 3, 2, 1, 0, let’s go. Go, 0, 12, 23. So, you see, it’s pretty fast anyway. In addition, I always use the throttle when starting off, always at the red light, even if I don’t ride only with that. It’s really a real assistance when starting off and I find it super important and super practical. And regarding responsiveness, how many turns of the pedals does it take for the assistance to start? So, I’m going to stand there. Hop, like that. A quarter, a good quarter, a good quarter of a turn of the pedals for the assistance to start. So, obviously, we don’t have a central motor, we have a pedal sensor, eh. We don’t have a torque sensor, but listen, it’s okay, it’s still relatively responsive, and you hear the engine, it starts up quickly, right, because the engine makes noise. We’ll talk about that a little bit more in the negative points. And what about the brakes? Well, listen, we have hydraulic brakes at the front and rear. So, they’re Never brakes , but hey, they just put a sticker on them, and they’re paired with 180 mm discs . And that’s really good. Plus, on the brake levers, you have an electrical cut-off, which means that when you brake, it also automatically stops the engine. So, come on, I’m going to go to my 25 km/h, take a reference point. Hop, I’m going to brake just after the little arrow. Hop, 2-3 m. Listen, that’s perfectly fine. It’s more than adequate. It’s average for almost all the bikes I’m currently testing. In any case, the braking is progressive, but you see, since the tires are relatively smooth, I’m on smooth asphalt too. I tend to skid. Be careful, on wet terrain, take a longer braking distance. How do you fold the bike? Listen, it’s really not very complicated, because yes, we still have… It’s a fat bike, but we still have a folding bike. So, to start, you have to fold the kickstand. Then, you lower your stem. After that, you fold the stem using the lever on the side. You fold the pedals. Well no, you can’t fold the pedals. And no, we don’t have folding pedals on this bike. It’s still crazy, frankly, making a folding bike that doesn’t have folding pedals, that for me, is really a mistake. Then you fold the bike using the lever in the middle and there you have it. As you can see, it’s pretty quick. What’s good about this bike is that it’s still resting on a frame rest. So, that saves you from having to damage it underneath. That’s good, I should point out, because all the bikes don’t have it. On the other hand, you still have to have a use for folding the bike. For example, it’s great if you want to fold it in your garage or at home, but otherwise, it’s still quite bulky, because remember that it’s 91 cm long, 44 cm wide and 83 cm high when folded. Regarding the autonomy of this bike, it is sold to do 80 km or 120 km. Listen, I’m well on my way to doing 100 km, I think, because I only used one bar out of the 5 and I’ve already done 25 km. So, I’m well on my way to going for a long ride. In any case, I’m going to go until the battery is almost empty and I’ll put here on the side how many kilometers I would have done in total, knowing that I weigh 80 kg. It will depend on whether you use your five assistance levels well, your hills, whether you have a lot of elevation gain or not, whether the outside temperature is more or less hot. In short, in any case, all of this will already give you a good basis for knowing how many kilometers you can do more or less with this bike. So now, how do you interact with the settings of this bike? I’m going to park here and I’ll explain all of this to you. So, to access this menu, you have to press plus and minus buttons at the same time. P01 is to change from miles to kilometers. P02 is the battery voltage. P03 is your number of assistance levels. So, you can set 3, 5 or 7. I set 5. P04 is the wheel size. P05 is the magnets. You should definitely not touch those. P06 is your speed limit. By default, it’s at 25 km/h, but you can go up to no limit. I’m going to put it up to 50 km/h. We’ll see what the maximum speed we can reach with this bike is. But as a reminder, it’s forbidden in France and it’s only on closed roads, because we’re limited to 25 km/h. P07 is for starting. Zero, you accelerate without pedaling, and 1, you have to pedal to activate the lever. P08 is the pedaling mode. So, 0 is only while pedaling, 1 is only with the lever, and 2 is with the lever and pedaling. P09 is the pedaling sensitivity, if you want a more or less responsive bike. And the rest, listen, it’s not super important, I’m not going to dwell on it. We’re almost at the end of this video and it’s going to be time to take stock with the pros and cons. So, we’ll start with the pros. Okay, I’m going to tell you everything a bit out of order. So the battery life, very good battery life. For this bike, having a fat bike type bike and folding or foldable, that’s really good. It’s becoming more and more common. Having the bike delivered with the bag, the front rack, the rear rack, the throttle, that’s great too, and that’s what makes it a bike with very, very good value for money. Plus, it can be unbridled for those who want it. The look, I love the look of this kind of bike. It’s super easy to straddle. So, it’s really suitable for everyone, and it doesn’t matter what size you are. We almost have a full-suspension bike. It has a USB port to charge your smartphone, and it also has turn signals. That’s a lot, a lot of good points about this bike. Now , the bad points, because the perfect bike, unfortunately, doesn’t exist. Not having retractable pedals for a folding bike, that’s frankly a real shame. I would like to have better tires too, like Chao Yang tires, for example. And finally, the noise of the engine, when the engine is really working at full speed, it makes quite a bit of noise. But otherwise, I have nothing else to say, it’s to tell you what a great bike it is. So, in conclusion, as I just said, this Hanevear H6-S is for me an excellent bike, very, very good value for money. You can buy it with your eyes closed, you won’t be disappointed. In any case, I’m very happy with it. It took me from point A to point B without any problem. I feel completely safe with it. So, a big thank you to the brand for sending it to me to do this test. Honestly, I’m really happy with it. That’s it for this video. Thanks for watching to the end. If you have any questions about this product, Don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments below. And as for me, I’ll see you soon for more videos from the world of cycling and sometimes scooters on urbanbike.com.
