Just a quick look at the UGA campus from my bicycle.

all right let’s get you a little look around here uh this is just a very small segment of the University of Grenobyl Alps um built in the uh I think it started really the the major construction out here was in the 60s late60s early ‘7s around the time of the Winter Olympics there’s a lot of uh sort of showcasing of Grenobyl as a futuristic modern city uh mostly not for the better the uh all the brutalist architecture that’s been left behind as a result of that but um some stuff really nice and campus is very spread out i don’t know how students get around here between campus camp it’s one of the biggest campuses I’ve ever seen and um beautiful landscape architecture here using old stones from I don’t know what and kind of creating a really interesting topography i think uh my friend Vicky Estradic would really appreciate this talking about over here to the left let me do a little loop so you get a better look at it um there you go really cool almost looks like uh some ancient ruins like from Mayan ruins or something and of course this uh this sort of tapestry or mosaic or whatever you call it of pavers is really kind of creates a neat effect this is a uh amphitheater building that has a very interesting architecture one of the more interesting buildings a lot of modern art planted around um yeah just a huge campus i believe there are about 60,000 students here i think I heard that maybe check me on that i might have to put something in the subtitles here to correct myself on that um but yeah very spread out parklike campus uh not how I particularly believe campuses should be very much kind of a vestage of the 60s and 70s mindset but nevertheless beautifully done beautifully done yeah doing a little weaving here so you can get a look and uh let me see can you see the mountains got some snow still in the mountains end of uh beginning of June now what is it june 4th or so 3rd or fourth i’m not sure which unlike uh all the battling that went the way that UCSD fought the tram going through the campus the uh the tram does go through the middle through the heart of the University of Gro Grenobyl apps campus which is really nice it’s kind of a lot of little restaurants here along the trolley stop and um yeah so I think I forgot to make the comparison maybe I did but yeah a lot like a a UC campus maybe modeled after something like UCSD although I believe it’s probably bigger than UCSD at least bigger than UCSD was i think it covers more acreage i’m not sure that but that’s just how it feels some of the buildings aren’t so attractive and some more than others bit of a showcase of uh architectural egos what’s that say something about Antifa up there i don’t know if you can see it also have bus lines that go through it so yeah much more uh public transit friend ucsd which seems to have fought very hard there to keep public transit off the campus and only skirting the outside finally I I understand the tram did go through part of the campus although I believe it’s part of the more remote part of the campus i have not been to back to San Diego to take the tram since they completed that line so I’m hopeful of doing that in the not too distant future and then uh things grow here they grow a lot faster than they do in uh San Diego in California so it’s kind of you can see some pretty long grass in places which is kind of neat it’s sort of a more of a natural feeling we’ll do a loop very lush treeline campus boy I don’t know how the students get around here though even with the transit and uh everything else you pretty much you’d need a skateboard a bicycle or um roller skates of some sort to get to classes i think maybe someday I’ll be able to interview a uh student here maybe it’ll be one of my kids ask them how that’s done a lot of biology buildings right over here and quite bike friendly except now where my bike lane just ran out oo something bad happened got all sorts of emergency vehicles out oh god I don’t know maybe it’s just a demonstration of something maybe it’s a gas leak anyway this campus is I I get the impression this campus is bigger than most cities i see a little uh map here if that helps yeah all right I’m gonna shut off the camera here again because I don’t want to just burn up film or burn up memory card I guess a better way to put it who knows it’s a newish looking building or they put a new facade on there that one right there so the camera’s been overheating lately don’t know why but it just did it again i’m not sure if it cut that whether that video that I was shooting got saved or not but I feel like I have very limited time now so we’re going to head go ahead and uh cut this uh campus tour short
