I had a couple of hours spare on a Sunday morning so I went for a cycle along the banks of the river Tyne. I’ve been wanting to go through this tunnel for quite a while so cycled more or less from the center of Newcastle along one side, to the tunnel, and then back along the other side of the river.
This is just a quick no frills video so you can see what the tunnel is like.
“The Tyne Pedestrian and Cyclist Tunnels run under the River Tyne between Howdon and Jarrow in Tyne & Wear, England. Opened in 1951, heralded as a contribution to the Festival of Britain, they were Britain’s first purpose-built cycling tunnels” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyne_cyclist_and_pedestrian_tunnels).
