      You should have done just a little bit more research, there is also a delivery fee (right now $165) which makes it start to approach $500. It’s still cheap, but it’s not $298…

      I have been looking at an awful lot of videos on Ebikes since my car died. I took the advice I read in the comments and added the fender and rear rack to get free shipping. Great value (I think). I will be doing a review after I get it. And will do video updates over time.

      Why is none of these reviews covering service? Who is going to repair this bike if it needs repair? I asked the Aventon service technicians at my bike shop and they told me they DO NOT service this brand. So WHERE do you take it to get it repaired? Regular Bike shops do not work on E- Bikes. What kind of warrenty does it have?

      nobody mentions whether a bike is ul certified. my ai says this company has "some models" with a removable ul certified battery, but not the entire bike. this is an important distinction in some states as e-bikes without this certification are illegal except on private property. apparently California has decided bikes with throttles are bad, and are illegal there. in some places e-bikes are illegal entirely. know your local laws before purchasing a bike that isn't good for anything but being impounded.

      How much rain will it tolerate? I will be traveling and the bike will be exposed to the elements. I could possibly cover it with a garbage bag if I can find a large enough bag.

      Be careful buying a cheap electric bike. When they break your local bike shop most likely will not touch them. Most bike shop insurance won’t let them store these bikes in their shops due to fire risk. Think about the fire risk. You don’t know what is going on inside these battery and charging systems.

      I guess for $500 that isn't bad but 3 miles isn't much of a test: this is something you're going to be taking pretty far out: how does it perform after 10 miles? 15? How long does the battery last in actual usage? How does it pedal without any assist which is a potential reality when dealing with e-bikes.

      Electric bikes in the uk are over priced .they have gained that cliqueness that these things do and snob factor is huge ( just like mountain biking). Service places …usually shops that sell the bikes, wont want you buying a cheaper bike than they do, especially if its a good bike .learn to do your own service and repairs.
