I got my Brompton to support my ambitions of cycling up all the classic road climbs in Scotland (359 of them listed on the wonderful climbfinder.com).
I knew it would be so handy folding it up and popping it the car, train or bus for getting to the climbs…but I was initially concerned about the limitations of the bike. Turns out there was no need to worry. This wee bike is brilliant for climbing!
I have found it's limit on the 'Urlar Road Climb's – 2km at 9.7% average gradient and the steepest 100m section at 17% (according to climbfinder.com). But…I see I still have an option to switch from 50tooth to 44 on the front.
Delighted!
