Isaac Del Toro a appris.

First hat trick, also on the Giro, for the Italians with Giulio Pelizzari’s third place. It’s Décathlon – AG2R. Oh, Groupama – FDJ, two French teams. Then, as always, he’s indefatigable. Indefatigable, Lorenzo Fortunato, who’s trying to take the breakaway. We see Mads Pedersen, we suspected it. Even if at one point, 6 or 7 riders got out, the good breakaway of the day has started… Oh yes! There are still people in front. There are still people in front. There must be Romain Bardet in front with Kevin Geniets. We saw them pass at the head of this leading group a few minutes ago. Look at Jacky who’s being punished. Yes. Polti VisitMalta, not represented in the long group, 3 minutes 19. They’re the ones taking the lead. The problem is that we’re reaching the Passo del Tonale. It’s been a long time since the Giro riders visited the Tonale. Yes, but they’re still holding up well when you see the riders at the front of the breakaway who are riding. We still have the best or the best of the best climbers. You can see that the Steinhausers, the Harpers, the McNultys, the Kruijswijks are still solid riders, and the Poltis, for the moment, are maintaining the distance. You see, we lost what? Only about fifteen seconds. Will they be able to ride up there? Apparently, yes. I remember that Diego Ulissi, a few hundred meters ago, was slightly struggling at the back. The best bet for a victory today is Via Fortunato, which has a 58,000-point lead, but which will still continue to rack up points on this second-category climb. I thought there were some Bretons on the right, but no. Nobody’s going to… He’s always looking back. He’s always afraid someone will come and challenge him for the points. No, don’t worry. You’ll take the lead ahead of your teammate. The gates of hell, the Mortirolo for the frontrunners with this extra presence. Men from Visma – Lease a Bike in the breakaway. A breakaway with Romain Bardet, with Kevin Geniets, we can see them. The peloton four minutes behind. Oh, Tiberi? I think it’s a bad day for Tiberi. Remember, he had a heavy crash. Him too, in Gorica. He was the first rider to end up on the ground. Eighth in the general classification. Bad luck for the White Jersey. The lead in this team is for Caruso, the bad luck of the White Jersey, which continues, worn yesterday by Ayuso. Still no proxy. Same suit, same effects. And there we have it, Daniel Felipe Martinez attacks. And that’s a sharp attack. Yes, we’ve had carte blanche at Red Bull – Bora since Primoz Roglic’s withdrawal. The former winner of the Dauphiné, Daniel Felipe Martinez. It’s Steinhauser who came out. Fortunato goes for it. Romain Bardet will try to accelerate. Since with the threat of the peloton, the best climbers must make the effort on this climb to try to swing at least a minute ahead. It’s Romain Bardet who accelerates. Romain, he’s going to do the descent. I think he really has that in mind. Eulalio who makes the effort for Bahrain. 48.7 kilometers to finally seek a victory in the Giro. There, Pelizzari. Pelizzari who triggers with Cepeda, with Carapaz behind, with Einer Rubio, Del Toro in difficulty. He’s in the back positions, as is Simon Yates, while Richard Carapaz is there, along with Cepeda, his teammate. Derek Gee, I’m fine. Yes, I didn’t see Simon Yates. I didn’t see Isaac Del Toro. Piganzoli moving out of the way. No, he’s gone. We’re going to move up. We’re going to move up a little bit. We have to get back there. Watch out for Carapaz’s counterattack. Max Poole. Still well positioned for the Picnic. Isaac Del Toro should drop right behind. Carapaz attacks at the top. Directly. With Pelizzari who will try to follow. The presence of Steinhauser at the front, remember, a teammate of Richard Carapaz. If he manages to make a break, he could find his teammate a little higher up or on the descent. Surprisingly, Simon Yates isn’t there. Simon Yates can’t keep up. Richard Carapaz, who is digging deep with the panache of a jaguar as usual. Pelizzari, who saw that Del Toro, Yates, and Bernal were distanced and who will also insist with Derek Gee in his wheel. Derek Gee, who could make a very good move with Pelizzari. Eulalio, who will pass at the top. And once again, this Giro is faltering. Yes, and then Carapaz, he still has a teammate at the front. With Georg Steinhauser. We’re not dreaming, we’re almost 50 kilometers from the finish. The gap to Pelizzari, to Max Pool, to Derek Gee. Yates is doing the job to try to get back into this counter-attack group. And who drops Bernal, who drops Isaac Del Toro. We’ve caught Oldani. You have to wonder if Yates didn’t do it on purpose, to bury Del Toro for good. We’re going to start the clock at the summit to judge the gaps between Carapaz and the Pink Jersey. Yes, what a comeback from Simon Yates, there. Like a bomb. Who got rid of Bernal, who got rid of Isaac Del Toro. Like he did yesterday. Like he did yesterday in the finale. He’s all alone. The pink jersey is alone, completely alone. Del Toro is making the effort too. He manages to catch up with Simon Yates, with Caruso, with Derek Gee, with Einer Rubio, with Max Poole. We can count on Richard Carapaz to make the descent. And luckily this descent isn’t wet because we ‘re going to take risks. Kevin Geniets, who’s going to be picked up at the top. Even in the dry, as we’ve said, it’s a road, as you can see, relatively narrow where you can, especially at the start of the descent, pick up high speeds. Anyone can potentially make a mistake. The Mexican who came back. Look, a teammate called back is Bart Lemmen, who finds himself next to Simon Yates. Isaac Del Toro, who took a small lead on this descent. He’s making the effort to get back directly to Carapaz, let Majka do it, let Adam Yates do it. It’s surprising. We were talking about this nervousness, this inexperience, which he had already shown, the signs of nervousness at the start of the stage, jumping on the breakaway that was about to leave, leaving his teammates behind him. He’s followed by Derek Gee. It was no use, since everyone’s going to come back in. Caruso, Max Poole, Bernal, Pidcock, his teammates. McNulty, Yates, and Majka. Three against one. Steinhauser alone riding in the Carapaz group. And three of Del Toro’s teammates, and obviously an advantage for the UAE team. It’s going to be interesting to see if there aren’t any… There must always be riders sandwiched between the leading group, the five leading riders, Eulalio, Cattaneo, Bardet, Stork, and Fortunato. There are some… There, Vacek is back. There’s the client. There’s the one who shouldn’t have been allowed to come back in, Daniel Felipe Martinez. These are riders who had tipped over at the top of the Mortirolo with 15, 20 seconds to spare, and after a great descent, Daniel Felipe Martinez and Mathias Vacek came back in. Milesi, who will also be riding with Damian Howson, Einer Rubio’s teammate. That could be a game-changer. A strong rider. If we get back to within 1’15” or close to a minute, victory could be in this group. After that, Del Toro’s goal is not to be dropped in Le Motte. He’s coming back, getting behind his men. He’s losing by three kilometers. So yes, it’s not the Mortirolo, it’s not the Passo Del Tonale, but three kilometers is enough to create gaps. It’s a step up to attack him. You saw Le Motee. And there you have it, Fortunato attacking him in front and accelerating. As long as no general classification favorite attacks, it’s fine for the Storks, the Bardets. Romain Bardet, alone in the lead, apparently. Romain Bardet’s attack. He turns around, there’s no one left. He has to let go, especially the sprinters like Stork, like Mathias Vacek. He’s made a good break there, almost 10 seconds, in a very short time. With 15 days to go, Romain Bardet is heading towards the challenge he set himself: to seek a stage victory in the Giro. He’s already won stages, of course, in the Tour de France. Remember that day in yellow last year? Pelizzari, is he fast in the sprint too? He’s going to go for it, Pelizzari. He’s going to have to accelerate. After that violent acceleration, we’re back to 17 seconds. Isaac Del Toro is on Pelizzari’s wheel, Carapaz ready to counter. It’s breaking behind Caruso, Max Poole, uncapped, Einer Rubio, Bernal, uncapped. Poole comes back. And no more teammates for Del Toro. There’s a 25-second lead for Romain Bardet. Rubio, he’s going to go for it. Einer Rubio attacks. He has to. Remember that Milesi rode earlier. Rubio is not a danger to the pink jersey, is not a danger to other riders in the general classification. Eulalio who is working for Damiano Caruso now. Practically in this picture. Oh, the attack by Isaac Del Toro, the Pink Jersey, behind with Carapaz going for it. Look at the form of “Torito” who overtook Einer Rubio and who is now coming back to Romain Bardet. Who seemed really very easy, but it is. He has found all his squirt. The answer compared to yesterday. Simon Yates is not there. And Carapaz is passing Simon Yates in the general classification. Derek Gee who is looking for help from Yates. It’s not up to him to go, it’s up to Simon Yates. But Simon Yates, remember earlier, when Adam Blythe was in the Jumbo-Visma car, we were saying: We’ll have people up front. Which was the case, four teammates in the breakaway. He is all alone in this finale, Simon Yates. Now, I think he is hesitating on the strategy. Should I wait for them? Apparently not, for now… but without waiting for them. Without waiting for them, he turned around, he’s getting up. He’s getting up, well done. We absolutely have to get up, recover a little. If he can keep up. Yes, there, now, there’s no problem. We’re done with the difficulties. Hiding because, gentlemen, you’re playing for the Giro d’Italia. I’m here for a stage victory and I’ve been in front since this morning. Romain Bardet, warm, behind Del Toro and Carapaz who want to take him out of the game right away. How hard it is to catch up for the Frenchman. They’re not far away. 8 seconds. We can hear each other behind. Yes, we’ll get through. Max Poole. Max Poole, he’s not going to roll. He has Romain Bardet in front. They’re very close. Three more kilometers. We’re going to enter this technical finale now, Jacky. It’s slippery. Light rain, Simon Yates who made the break with Caruso behind, Derek Gee. The gap is stagnating. Look, Isaac Del Toro accelerating and dropping Richard Carapaz and Romain Bardet. He took more risks in this slightly wet corner. Very technical, Isaac Del Toro, the mountain biker. He didn’t shake Del Toro today. Frankly, we saw him make mistakes, a little bit of bad judgment, we saw him make a little bit of unnecessary effort, but he was just really good today. He’s under the red flame and it’s going to turn right, it’s going to turn left all the way to the end. Carapaz is making the effort. Romain Bardet is right behind. There, here’s the red flame. We have a U-turn. We’re going to make a U-turn just after the red flame. Watch out for this hairpin bend. Isaac Del Toro corners much better than Richard Carapaz, who loses a few more meters on the restart. The reaction of a champion, the reaction of a Pink Jersey. He who told us he understood yesterday what it was really like to wear the Pink Jersey, he proves it again today. He understood very well, the Mexican. He’s going to get his victory photo. He’s going to go get it. He’s going to go get it, his first victory in a Grand Tour, 500 meters from the finish line. Isaac Del Toro to get everything back on track here in Bormio, Olympic territory. Isaac Del Toro turning around, not wanting to make any mistakes in the final turns. He’s playing it safe. Carapaz is flat out. 300 meters. He’s got his shot, the great restart. Romain Bardet will have to settle for second place. He reacts, but it’s too late, trapped by the break on the descent. Careful, careful not to go to the ground. 150 meters left in the turn. And Isaac Del Toro will send a message to everyone. There will be two days left to shake him, but he intends to keep that Pink Jersey until Rome. First victory in a Grand Tour. A victory in pink. A salute to Pogacar. Romain Bardet, second. Richard Carapaz, third. And that angry cry from Del Toro as he crosses the line. And Simon Yates, who should move up to third in the general classification. He had a five-second lead this morning over Richard Carapaz, the big loser of the day was Antonio Tiberi. And then there’s Egan Bernal, who wasn’t among the favorites in the finale. We were still thrilled, we shivered in Clermont-Ferrand. Romain didn’t come close. He announced it, he did the job. Jacky, he fell to the Giro’s big guns. Here’s the new general classification with Derek Gee and Caruso. It’s a status quo, of course. Antonio Tiberi is absent. That allows some to move up a few places. Pelizzari is moving up. Einer Rubio is now in the top 8. Adam Yates and Michael Storer.
