Juan Ayuso a explosé, Primoz Roglic a lui abandonné.

Thymen Arensman is returning to the peloton with Gianmarco Garofoli. They both fell. Up front, we have a breakaway with Daren Rafferty, probably Rémy Rochas for Groupama FDJ, Joshua Tarling, Xavier Azparren for the Q36.5 Josef Cerny, the Czech from Soudal, and Wout Van Aert is at the front. Wout Van Aert is out. The peloton is still riding very fast. Oh dear! It’s Arensman. It’s in front. It’s Tarling, isn’t it? 80. It’s Joshua Tarling. He fell in front, he fell in the breakaway. He hurt himself, Joshua Tarling. He hit that barrier. Where is Tarling? He’s in second position. He’s bound to slide, end up in the guardrail. Look. He’s just pedaling into this roundabout. That’s a blue mistake for Joshua Tarling. We don’t like them. Those safety rails, remember Rojas, a few years ago in the Vuelta. He’s not going to leave, Joshua Tarling. No. With this counterattack that came out, will Nicolas Prodhomme be there? Not sure. David Gaudu, in any case, for the French. That’s why we saw Groupama-FDJ constantly relaunching, even with a representative at the front. It was a big counterattack that was building. There’s all that, a Pello Bilbao who sets off like that, discreetly. And in the end, we have it, since the peloton lets this group of a good ten, practically 15 riders, go, in pursuit of the six riders who are still leading the way. We’re going to get to the train with a six-minute lead. Wout Van Aert won the first sprint, the intermediate sprint, and so it’s Fortunato who will go for 18 additional points in the mountains classification. Compact group. Jacky, now at the front. And the peloton is in gear, because look, 6 minutes 13. We’re starting to come back. MAX gap, today, you saw it, 6 minutes 37. And still that little glance. He was wary until the end, though, Fortunato. While we’re told that Primoz Roglic has abandoned. So now, we’re waiting for the official information. Yes, that’s it, it’s official according to Radio Course. Primoz Roglic who, we remind you, had lost time on the eve of the rest day. It’s confirmed on the screen, look closely. Withdrawal and the little name below. Yes, but we had to climb Ventoux. Another problem for a rider from Team Ineos is Bernal. So, after Roglic’s crash, Carapaz’s crash, Bernal’s crash. What a shitty day for the leaders. The other leaders, things are going well for Team UAE, but there’s no need to panic. He’s had a good crash. After Team Ineos, as usual, I want to say, it’s Richard Carapaz’s team that decides to toughen up the race to launch Richard Carapaz into orbit in this Santa Barbara. All this with Lake Garnes. As a witness, we should have a little bit of sport at the end of this stage. It’s not normal to see him there, Juan Ayuso. It’s not normal and he’s not surrounded. No one with him. He’s not surrounded. We leave him there, the white jersey. Look at the last positions of the peloton. Maybe a failure from Juan Ayuso to follow. Yes, because there, honestly, just now, in a climb, he’s behind. We know that the attacks aren’t going to happen. But there, when you see Richard Carapaz’s entire team accelerating, it’s because we’re expecting a big acceleration from Richard Carapaz. When we see Castroviejo coming back, we say to ourselves that we’re preparing for an attack from Egan Bernal who is in the wheel of the Spaniard. And there, Ayuso, he can’t afford, if he’s doing well, to hang around in 20th position. Steinhauser making a big acceleration, Cepeda in the wheel and behind, we have the… We don’t expect it. We don’t expect it, We don’t expect Ayuso. We knew there was a problem for Juan Ayuso, the Spaniard, who is sinking in this 16th stage. Yesterday, Matxin Fernandez had announced, and we understand better that the leader was Isaac Del Toro. Explanation in pictures. With 42.300 kilometers to go, the bill is going to be spicy for Juan Ayuso. It’s really a sabotage pace, almost, from the UAE Emirates team. It suits some people. I have the impression that Bernal is happy that things aren’t going much faster. Yes, we expected attacks from Richard Carapaz, from Egan Bernal in this Santa Barbara. I still have the feeling that we won’t move. Simon Yates who accelerated. We’ll perhaps wait until the final climb. It’s Isaac Del Toro who’s going to find himself in difficulty now. We’ll probably attack him, Isaac Del Toro. Yannis Voisard who’s pushing hard on this descent. He feels like he wants to try something. He must be a former mountain biker, Yannis Voisard. In Switzerland, we all ride mountain bikes. Less so, but it will still free up a little bit. Yannis Voisard, facing his destiny, with a 21-second lead, is the one who’s going to attack the final climb, this Passo di San Valentino. Leemereize who’s starting to crack. Pello Bilbao, that’s over too. We’ll go there between Astana riders plus Jefferson Cepeda, the one from Movistar. Look, Wout Van Aert. Wout Van Aert who’s going to get to work now on Simon Yates. We’re going to try to hurt Isaac Del Toro, of course. He still has two teammates, the Yates brother, Adam, and the road captain, the Pole Rafal Majka. 3 minutes 37. What should Rafal Majka do there? Pelizzari is going to go. Pelizzari is going to attack. Attack from Giulio Pelizzari. Majka, he won’t be able to go. He’ll stay at his own pace anyway. Rafal Majka, Pelizzari, a new leader for Red Bull after the retirement today of Primoz Roglic, the Slovenian. Obviously, no danger for Majka. He took a quick look to see who was attacking. Pelizzari is very far back in the general classification, so we’re not panicking. Up front, it’s Scaroni who’s attacking now. Cepeda can’t go. We understood a long time ago that Scaroni was perhaps the protected rider within the Astana team. And there it is, the announced counterattack. Yes. He waited for Cepeda to maintain a strong tempo behind Scaroni and Fortunato. As expected, it was a good move by the wearer of the mountains jersey. There it is, we have the attack. And Simon Yates’ attack. Isaac Del Toro is there. Carapaz too. Bernal can’t keep up. Neither can Einer Rubio. Carapaz, Yates. Yes, we said it, just after the intermediate sprint, there were really high percentages, but he attacked at the top. Bilbao at the bottom of the screen. There, it’s steep. He accelerates again. Derek Gee has come back, Storer is there. Einer Rubio a little further back. Carapaz, he might put us on a counterattack, but he’s very grimacing. Yes, he’s full throttle, Carapaz. Derek Gee, who is also virtually 4th. Here we go, Carapaz. There-here’s the Jaguar attack, showing its claws. Derek Gee is going. This time, Isaac Del Toro can’t go or doesn’t want to go. He lets Simon Yates do it. He doesn’t want to go, I think. We must have told him in his earpiece: You’re basing your race on Simon Yates, who’s his runner-up in the general classification. Richard Carapaz, he was 2’07” behind this morning, Jacky. Simon Yates, he’s playing with Del Toro. Okay, you’re basing your race on me? I’m letting Carapaz and Derek Gee go. They’ll make up time on you. That way, there will be several of us who want to beat you in the coming days. Because now, if he takes back even a minute from Isaac Del Toro… Watch out, Isaac Del Toro is struggling. Now, it’s not the same. He’s not completely losing ground, but he’s losing time on Carapaz and he’s now losing time on Simon Yates. The United Arab Emirates team can lose everything today. After Ayuso’s failure, it’s the leader of this Giro for over a week, the Mexican, who has been shaken all day by Carapaz, by Simon Yates, who is losing meter after meter. Simon Yates and Storer are flying away. One minute and a half. One minute and a half recovered by Carapaz on Isaac Del Toro. And 40 seconds lost on Yates. And bonus points too. There’s a third place. What a stage for the Kazakh team. They’re going for their victory, which will probably also earn them a distinctive jersey in this 108th edition of the Giro, the mountains jersey for Fortunato, 98 points earned. Since this morning, they’ve been on a commando run. They missed the first breakaway, but they came out with three. We’ll have to add to the victory. The excellent work also produced in this team. By Masnada. By Fausto Masnada. It’s the only team that, in this group of 20-25 riders, had three representatives. Three representatives at the front. We’re taking the points in the mountains and we’re going to do a one-two on the first big mountain stage. Fortunato is stronger. We have the impression he’s keeping Scaroni in his wheel. Fortunato is stronger. Come on, another 100 meters of hard riding. A smile for Lorenzo Fortunato, who already won a stage a few years ago, it was on Monte Zoncolan. The Astana team, XDS Astana, the Sino-Kazakh team, will deliver the first Italian stage victory in this 108th Giro. It will probably go to Scaroni. Will he have the strength to pass his compatriot and teammate? In any case, they will finish hand in hand, certainly. It was a real team effort today. It was well done. On the kicking side, we had to get rid of Cepeda. Scaroni attacks, Fortunato counters once Scaroni has a 15 or 20-second lead. Really a job well done. After that, you had to have the legs. They had the legs, the Astana team riders today. The Astana team’s tribute to Cristian Scaroni for his excellent start to the season as well. Fortunato has already had one. A Giro victory. This one will go to the rider from Brecia. Cristian Scaroni winning, yes. Yes. Pelizzari going for third place, fourth will be for Richard Carapaz. And then, of course, we’ll start the famous time trial at Jacky Durand to measure the damage. Compared to Ayuso, it’s over. Compared to Isaac Del Toro especially and Simon Yates, 1.10 minutes behind Scaroni. Leemreize crosses the line. We see Yannis Voisard finishing very well with Bernal, also with Caruso in his wheel, and still no Isaac Del Toro on the finish line . It’s already been 1.20 minutes since Richard Carapaz crossed the finish line. He’ll keep his jersey. There was 1’20” compared to Simon Yates. There was 1’20”. That’s 1’30”. Yes, he’ll keep the jersey for 15, 20 seconds. The debrief, eagerly awaiting the debrief of the kings of the pedals. This 16th stage swept away everything we thought, swept away certainties, and above all swept away the UAE team. Juan Ayuso will not win the Giro. And Isaac Del Toro was attacked and showed his first weaknesses in this Tour of Italy. The problem is that tomorrow, we have a date with a monster. The Mortirolo is on the program. Here is the top 10. Congratulations to Yannis Voisard as well, who was in the breakaway like Jefferson Cepeda. Where everything can be decided. Storer’s very good move. Look who’s gained five places, Egan Bernal is hanging on. And Giulio Pelizzari. Giulio Pelizzari was very far away this morning. Giulio Pelizzari is 4 minutes 36 behind. Imagine, Roglic is gone. Pelizzari, that’s a long time, 4 minutes 36, but from what we see of this Giro.

WTF
Eurosport coverage better than TNT hands down. No shouting etc and overreacting and trying to sound fing Italian.

Am Slovenian and was rooting for him. But he wasnt in best, he is old too and after too much bad luck and fall normal he quit. Now I go with Carapaz! He is very strong in mountains and smash Del Toro and Ayuso, Yates!! Remember my words. Carapaz win another giro. Gretings from Slovenija, nice giro, but I wait for TDF and our Slovenian beast Pogačar and his best teamates. 💪🇸🇮
La victoire des vélos chinois ! On était septique mais preuve qu'ils sont au niveau
