Well, my friend and I planned a 2-night camping trip exploring Minnewaska, Mohonk, and up by Shokan/Ashokan Reservoir. We took the train from NYC to Poughkeepsie, and less than an hour into our trip, my friend got hit by a car making a sudden turn on red without looking both ways, hitting him in a crosswalk designated as the Empire State Trail. He's okay, a few cuts and scratches, but his bike was totalled and there was no way for him to continue. I chose to press on and spent the rest of Saturday biking up and around Minnewaska State Park solo, but morale was low and decided to keep it to one night and take the train home the next day.
