Last summer some fuck-nut tried to steal my Giant Simple Seven geared beach cruiser and my kid's Mongoose mountain bike. They were locked together through the wheels on the side of my house in a pretty good neighborhood, so I was just trying to deter casual theft. This meth head decided to DRAG the giant wad-o-bikes down my driveway to his car and got caught by my neighbor.
However, in the process he destroyed my fenders, gear shifters, and rear brake cable. I went all summer without a bike and finally got all the parts together last week. I was kind of dreading the repairs.
Today, I stopped at a garage sale about six houses down and found this steel Japanese city cruiser for $10! It is in excellent condition and is both lighter and faster than my aluminum cruiser. Everything works great (all original parts) and there was just a little rust on the chain. I absolutely love the vintage aesthetics. I slapped my dog leash bar on the seat post and took my dog on a two mile run.
Best $10 spent this year.
