Jonas Vingegaard is back—and he’s more determined than ever to reclaim the yellow jersey. After a rough start to 2025 and a crash in Paris-Nice, the two-time Tour de France champion is targeting redemption in 2025. But standing in his way? Tadej Pogačar, the reigning champion and spring season dominator. With a stronger Visma | Lease a Bike squad and the mountainous 2025 Tour route ahead, can Vingegaard turn the tables? This could be the most intense Vingegaard vs. Pogačar battle yet.

While Tarabacha has been rewriting the record books this spring, dominating every race he’s entered, one man has been missing from the spotlight. Yonas Vingle. But behind the silence, something dangerous has been building. A quiet, relentless return. And the closer we get to July, the more it looks like the real fight is only just beginning. Before we start, make sure to hit the like button, subscribe to the channel here on the Cycling Dane, and why not head over to the Cycling Dane action channel to see our latest project where I tried to cycle a penny faring from London to Paris. And with that out of the way, back to the video. The 2025 season for Mingo started with promise after a hard 2024 season in the Walter Algav. He was up there on the first mountain stage on stage two up to the Alto del Foya finishing sixth and winning the stage race in an emphatic fashion by dominating a 19.6 km time trial where he put 11 seconds into his teammate W Bernard but 30 seconds into Almea who finished fourth of the tour last year. From then on he was looking to build on this strong form and went to Paris Nice where he was surrounded by a very strong team that included the likes of Matteo Jurgensson and they together managed to win the team time trial. And on stage four Mingle put the hammer down and it looked like we were back to normal with him taking the victory but he was just pipped to the line by Jah Almeida. Then came stage five and here disaster struck as the Dane India’s jersey had a crash and an injury to his hand and this meant that he had to sit out for recovery and couldn’t continue on. Since then it’s been somewhat silent. It looked like his tour to France preparation had taken a huge blow. But that’s not how Yonas Bingle works. We saw the phenomenal recovery back in 2024 after his infamous tour of the Bass Country crash and managing to get back into racing form and finishing second in the Tour of France where he even took a stage win with no race preparations beforehand. And in my opinion to this day still one of the most impressive comebacks we’ve seen in the sport. So in comparison, this Paris knees crash and getting ready for the tour to France is nothing. While the world watched Tarbagatcha dominate the classics, Vingal had disappeared into the mountains, Sierra Nevada, altitude, isolation, precision in his preparation and away from the public with us knowing not exactly what form he was there. His tour France plan has been unfolding. Fewer race days, more focus, a longer buildup than last year. Designed to peak when it matters most in July. Everything is tuned for that one goal. No spring race trophies this year. Not a fanfare, just the tour to France. What team Bismar Lisa Bike count the most. The formula is very similar to that of 2023 going to the criterium denophane. And the only race he’s missed out really has been the tour of the Bas country. So from there he will go into the to France and he will hope to do the same that he did that year and dismantle pagatcha in the Alps. As we know Vingo won’t be going to this war alone. This Malissa bike are bringing one of the strongest lineups we’ve seen ever perhaps sepus looking to come back into that potent role that we’ve seen him in the past to Francis and in better form than he was in 2024. hopefully could be there alongside Matteo Jurgensson who had some really strong heroics in the 2024 Tour to France and really exploded onto the top echelons of the sport winning Paris Nice last year and Dwarf Dorf London but this year has proven that it wasn’t a fluke and managed to win Paris Nice yet again making sure to carry that yellow jersey that Ving lost all the way to the finish and winning that and he was also in the top 10 of the tour to France last year despite at working for Yonis Wingle. Another strong pillar of the team is Wild Bernard who is on track to return to his best form ever having gotten back to a very strong form during the spring classics and taking a stage win in the Jurro Dire on the Stadian stage and potentially is back to his best. Last year at the tour of France, he probably wasn’t at his best as he was still recovering from the dwars flounder and karash and he is one rider that UAT memorates will be quite hard to match up against in terms of versatility. Maybe the closest would be the likes of Neil’s Pot or Nav. And as well, we’ll also see the new addition to the team of Simon Yates who should add more firepower to the team in the mountains that we didn’t really have last year. And hopefully he can play a role similar to his brother does to ta picatcha in the last few years but he is at the duro Italia so he could maybe be a bit tired after that or if he follows the pagatcha trend be even stronger in his second grand tour of the year. This team knows how to control race and how to crush a rival spirit one summit at a time. If Pagatcha wants yellow, he’ll have to earn it the hard way with this team in play. And then we come to the man of the moment, the world champion Tab Gacha. His strongest rival. The rivalry that began in 2021, continued into 2022, 23 and 24. And now in 2025, we await another chapter. 2023 was the last time Vagacha cracked and he didn’t have the ideal preparation in that year’s tour and last year being a goal cracked and he was the one not at his strongest. So they both had their moment of vulnerability and now in 2025 the stage is set for the most anticipated showdown and potentially them at full force. Yes, Pagacha has dominated the spring classics with Star Bianke Fllanders and was very strong in parro Bay and dominated Leesge as we said he is untouchable it seems but the tour of France is a very different beast. Three weeks, endless pressure, anything can happen. No second chances, and Bing go knows exactly what it takes to win the race. Who knows how strong the UAT members team will be after their strongest riders from last year have been at the Jira tire this year with the likes of Fayuzu and Adam Yates, but so is Simon Yates and W Bernard. As we said, in terms of the route itself in 2025, it’s very interesting for both Ingo and Bisma Lisa bike. There will be the return of some memorable mountains such as the mon 2 called de la lo but from a different direction and to come the bald mountain of mon 2 appeared in yonas wingor’s very first tour of France in 2021 where he was trusted with the leadership role after roglitch crashed and with the two ascents of the mmonu on the day we saw his teammate wavat win the stage but behind Wernard Vingal looked like he did the impossible and found a crack in Pagati ‘s invincibility somewhat. The other climb of the de la despite them going up a different direction was the mountain where we saw the first really big crack of Pagatcha where he dropped an incredible amount of time and even signaled that to his team as well. And Vingigo didn’t win the stage but took out a lot of time and had basically won the tour. And then we cannot forget Horiccom in 2022 where we saw Vingigol linking up with Ward to dispatch Taragatcha who had lost the jersey on stage 11 and this was great teamwork by both the yellow and the green jersey of Yonu Visma. This year’s tour to France route is unforgiving with the uping week more suited to Pagatcha though with classic style stages in northern France and even the return of the murder Britannia. But the second week is where vegan go could begin to claw it back similar to 2022 and week three with monu called de la and la pa delivering the killer blow for the dane bingo has barely raced this year but that might be his biggest strength while others wear themselves out in the classic seasons he’s been sharpening the blade. This race isn’t about how many wins you rack up in April or May. This is who shows up in July with the legs, the team, and the mindset to destroy everyone. Yas Vingal has been knocked down, counted out, overshadowed. But don’t let that fool you. He’s coming. And when the Tour of France finishes in Paris, don’t be surprised if Yonas is the one who finishes in yellow. Will Vingal rise again and reclaim the throne? or is it Pagatcha about to complete a fourth victory of the race and become the first world champion to do so in many years? Anyways, with that, that’s basically it for this video. Make sure to hit the like button and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. And why not check out the video we did of the rise of Yong Bingle or even the scary truth of Tadugacha part two. But for now, thank you for watching and I will see you in the next one.

Pogi is the GOAT. So NO VINGEGAARD, won't do anything. You Pogi hater
UAE is too strong this year
Great piece Scott. One thing is for certain – if Jonas is form at the Tour this year it will make an enjoyable Tour for me. My favourite races are when the two of them are pushing each other to their limits
Jonas will win the TDF 2025
I'm here for it!!! We need more rivalry.
AI Pogacar is the scariest part of the thumbnail
In short-No.
Pogacar vs Vingegaard… we need this type of rivalry for the excitement. Add Mateo Jorgensen and Remco Evenepoel and we got an exciting TDF 2025 coming.
Meh
Only Bini can defeat Jonas
Hvad er det et mærkeligt billede du har valgt til denne video. Det er godt nok dårlig stil. Der ellers kun kendetegner fuldstændig useriøse YouTube kanaler.
Dominating races that MVDP isn’t in lol.
UAE is on 🔥
Lets see; UAE has an abundance of top climbers like pogacar, almeida, ayuso, del toro ;im afraid they will smoke the bees…
wishful thinking….training like a monk alone does not sharpen the blade…it's iron that sharpens iron and this is done by racing against your peers. advantage: pogacar
Both UAE and THE BEES are ridiculus strong only tacts will win TDF25.The veagence from Visma is untamed, the winning thirst of Pog on mountains he lost for years is unstoppable. Can't wait
Tadej is going to breeze through this year TDF. I doubt Jonas stands a chance to win , or even stand on the podium end of the race. Visma should maybe focus on Matteo insted.
Jonas is Pogi's greatest rival only in the TDF. He can't beat him in any other race, especially one day classics. Otherwise, MVDP is Pogi's greatest rival.
Good luck with that.
I hope, but I don't think so
I will never be a fan of Jonas. I like riders that challenge across the season, not ones that target one race. And they have to ride the classics.
Sounded a little like a Jonas love affair, and living in the past just a bit – there's no mistaking that Jonas is a wonderful rider and [misfortune aside] he is the ONLY one capable of challenging Tadej in the Tour – it will be a win for the ages if Jonas can pull it off – may the best man win! In any event we won't need to wait until the Tour given they will be head-to-head for the first time since last years Tour in stages 4, 6, 7 & 8 in next months Dauphine – that will tell us how the Tour is likely to pan out. Also remember that Jonas's past glories in '22 and '23 are now 3 and 2 years ago and Visma are no longer the same powerhouse they were back then, plus Tadej has improved just a little since then [LOL] – if Tadej prevails then there can be no further argument. FOR THE RECORD on Tadej vs Jonas….Tadej leads Jonas 3:2 in Tour wins – Tadej leads 17:4 in Tour stage wins [14:4] when head-to-head – in the 84 Tour stages they've contested against each other Tadej has gained actual time [not bonues] on Jonas 20 times whereas Jonas has gained actual time on Tadej 4 times [albeit decisive], so Tadej has gained time on Jonas in 24% of all the 84 Tour stages they've contested – that's a staggering statistic – Tadej leads 95:39 in UCI road races and 9:0 in monument wins. …all that said only a fool would doubt Jonas, I'm certainly not. ALSO – just last week Jonas revealed that he also intends riding the Worlds as well as the Vuelta – so head-to-head with Tadej at Dauphine, the Tour, the Worlds, and then the Vuelta if Tadej also competes, which he's sure to if he wins the Tour – by the end of the season we'll all know for certain who's the King – it could very well be Jonas – time will soon tell.
You didn’t mention Vingegaard’s concussion in Paris-Nice which was by far the most significant component of his injury. He described being dizzy for weeks after his crash so the head injury was significant. He will hopefully be 100% for the Tour de France. Pogacar should have plenty of time to recover from a spectacular classics season so hopefully he too will be at 100% in July. Primoz Roglic looks good if perhaps a bit vulnerable at this point in the Giro. I think the biggest question mark this year is Remco. He has looked pretty shaky after his monster crash in the spring. I hope he is able to recover before the TDF.
Vingegaard was riding 6.9 w/kg in 2023 TDF and then Pogcacar went stronger in 2024 with 7 w/kg. Tadej in 24, beat drug fueled Pantani's Plateau de Beili's record by 3 mins and 40 seconds 98 record. He is also riding a faster bike now. Jonas believes he is stronger now than 24 and 23. This could be the best TDF since 1989.
Jonas only racing one race a year is ridiculous.. He is not a true champion
I love both but POG is unstoppable
