Hello,
I would like to use short-reach Specialized handlebars on my Aethos (my current bars have a 75mm reach, and I’d like to try 70mm).
However, one of my requirements is that I want to mount Zipp Vuka aero extensions.
The clamp area on the handlebars is quite wide, and I was able to test-mount the extensions ~12 cm apart.
When I used the extensions on my Roubaix, the clamp area on the Hover bars was a bit narrower, and I felt it was harder to breathe — so I’d like to mount them slightly wider this time.
Most handlebars compatible with extensions seem to have a 10 cm clamping area.
Is it possible to mount them this way, any possible problems in the future, safety concerns?
Could you also recommend any carbon or aluminum handlebars with a 70–72mm reach that are compatible with aero extensions? I know about Zipp Service Course SL70 or Pro PLT (carbon or alu).
