Cyclists from across the globe are preparing for the first-ever world tour race to be held in Scotland.
In its 48th year, The Lloyds Tour of Britain Women’s Cycling is coming to Glasgow next month.
The race starts in Dalby Forest in the north east of England, before taking in Hartlepool for the second stage.
The 4-day Lloyds tour of Britain women’s cycling tournament is coming to Glasgow and it is the first ever World Tour race in Scotland. The race starts in Dalby Forest in the northeast of England. But the fourth and final stage is where the winner will be crowned and that is happening here in Glasgow Greens on the 8th of June. After the main event at noon, there will be a family cycling festival where amateurs like myself will be allowed on the 8 km circuit to battle it out amongst their peers. to finish in Glasgow is is unbelievable. Um last year it was all sort of down Wales Manchestery direction which which feels close to home but yeah to have a finish in in Glasgow is just incredible and to be racing at home um we don’t get that opportunity that often so it’s it’s unbelievable. Obviously just nice to have crowds behind us and everybody supporting us and be able to have family and friends come out to the different stages to watch us and especially for me at being in my home city of Glasgow on the final day. It’s h doesn’t really get better than that for me. It’s going to add a great deal of excitement and particularly a focus on women and girls cycling which is a real real driver for us. We saw fantastic support and enthusiasm for the cycling world championships recently. So, it’s just a build upon that and we’re really looking forward to two fantastic days of racing in Scotland with the with the finale in in Glasgow.
