I had a quick hour at the ned of the day to explore as much of Cannop cycle centre as possible and I quickly discovered why FOD is the most POPULAR trail centre in the UK…
Forest of Dean is one of the best trail centres in the UK offering a whole host of MTB trails and jumps including the famous jump line GBU. The bike park is suitable for all level riders from pro to beginner.

Today we find ourselves here at the Forestine which is arguably the most popular trail center in the UK and I found myself with an hour at the end of the day to go and hit some of my favorite trails for Dean then it must be one of my favorite trail centers to ride in the UK. It’s super popular and that’s because you’ve got this absolute insane network of trails for all abilities. It’s actually the end of the day at 6:00. I’ve been filming a video for Cara today where she’s absolutely smashed out the GBU line. And that’ll be online very soon, that video. And I’m going to give myself a power hour to ride as much of the bike park as possible. So, we’ll start the clock right now. Counting down. We’ve got 1 hour. So, let’s get on the high bike like lightweight ebike and smash out some laps. That’s GBU. That’s one of my favorite trails ever. That’s the bottom section. We’ll come on to that shortly. We made it to the top then. The climb took just over 6 minutes, which is not too bad. In the hour, we can actually smash out quite a few runs. We’re going to start off easy on the Blues Launchpad Countdown. Two of the most popular trails, I reckon, in the UK. So, let’s give them a little treddy. Here we go, then. There’s nothing better than a nice evening. Oh, there’s a gap there. Being out on your bike shredding in the woods, it’s the best feeling. It’s what we all strive for, isn’t it, as mountain bikers? Phew. That’s countdown complete. We’re now dropping into Launchpad, the lower section. Heat. Heat. First track complete then we’re now 12 minutes into the power hour. I’m beginning the climb once again and we’re going to hit a slightly more difficult one. Back at the top now it’s time to hit a red trail. I’m going to go twisted sister because that starts from here with some nice table jumps. Nice. Yo, there we go. Fun set of jumps at the top there. And we branch off now into the woods. Heat. Heat. Phew. We’re 25 minutes in now to the power hour and I think it’s time that we get onto some black trails. So, that being said, let’s do the climb once again and drop in for some more fun. Dropping in then sheep skull. This actually does start a bit high up the hill, but the top bit isn’t really that good. It’s quite flat. So, I’ve gone to the bit where it gets really cool. Couple of little gaps coming up. Yo. Oh, I’m offline. That is not the line there. Oh, that’s so aggressive. 35 minutes in now. We’re really warmed up. The session’s absolutely firing. Conditions are perfect. This is why I think Forestine Dean Canup Cycle Center is so popular because the trails are just so attainable for everyone. Even the black trails, there’s something for everyone. If you want to hit races and go fast, they’re there. But if you want to just plot down it and hit something slightly steeper for the first time, then it more than caters for that as well. Just charged back up then to this little zone where you’ve got a few black trails. It’s like just down from the main rolling cougar downhill trail, double black extreme this time. Then just across the way, you’ve got Endo, which is just a black severe, and Mr. Rooty, which is also a black se. I think I want to turn the level up. We’re going to go into Cougar cuz there’s a few double black Sever that I want to hit before this hour is up. But first of all, my bike is looking so good there in the woods. So, I’m going to take a quick picture of it and put it on my Instagram story. I’m going to post that in a minute because I’ve just noticed we’ve got 19 minutes left on the timer. So, let’s drop in and shred cougar. Here we go then. Dropping in cougs. Yo, I’ve just made it down cougar. That was such a good run. And actually, for the first run of the day, I got the line pretty spot on. That never normally happens because there’s a lot of different ways you can get caught out there. My battery when we started this was only half full cuz like I said, we’ve been filming a video for Cara, who has already got her civies on because she’s been shredding GBU today. I need to nick your battery quickly cuz yours has more than mine. So, can you film me? I’ve got like 15 minutes left this power hour. Oh gosh. Okay. I nicked these at the hotel last night. We paid £10 for a premium room. 10 man extra. Sorry. And it come with kit catch. Yeah, we didn’t eat last night from Back on track. We’ve got four bars of battery and 12 minutes left on the timer to do two runs. That’s going to be tight. Let’s see if we can smash this out. The next track we hit is going to be ski run. Here we go then. Dropping in. Ski run. Let’s get it. [Music] Heat. Heat. There we go. That was a quick lap up and down. We’ve got 4 minutes 40 on the timer. I don’t think I’ll make it back down in the hour, but I think I can make it up for me. That would be absolutely perfect cuz then we get the final rundown. GBU. We save the best to last. Let’s continue this power hour and get down the best track that Forest Dean has to offer in my opinion. We’re just about to reach the top. Look, it’s there. And the timer is done. That’s an hour. We’ve just We’re just about to sneak out the final lap, which is sick. We’ve done a lot of riding in an hour. I’ve been absolutely flat out. It’s physical up and down. Even on the on the ebike, as I explained in a recent video, it’s like your lower zone training. Super good for endurance. Here we go then. Final run of the video. We’re going GBU. Starts with a short little drop there. I like this cuz it’s actually such a good combination between downhill and jumps, as you’re about to find out. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. bottom section of GBU. Then we’re into the the jumpy zone. These are the ones that Cara was riding earlier. She was actually shredding down them. Nice. No foot can there to finish. What a power hour. That was a lot of riding in 60 minutes. There we have it then. That concludes a power hour and about 5 minutes because we ran out of time. But I think that last run should count because I’ve made it up. And I mean when the conditions are like this, we wait for this all year round. Who’s going to deny anyone of an extra run at the trails? If you’ve never been to the Forestine, definitely get here and check it out. It’s one of the most popular trail spots in the UK and I really couldn’t recommend it enough. If you love mountain biking for all different levels and abilities. So, if you enjoyed this one, give us a thumbs up. Leave your comments down below and I will see you guys in the next one. I got to have it. I ain’t even playing. Got a really bad habit. If it moves, got to grab it like a magnet. Lose won’t have it till I’m doomed in a casket. I ain’t playing. Got a weird mind. If you work eight hours, I’mma work nine. If the shoot tastes sour, you should taste mine. I’mma stay in power for a long time. Get up now.

YOOO 🔥🔥🔥
That bike is stunning 😍
little bit more pratice and i think you could be quite good Tom
Big shout out ot the Dean Trail Volunteers for just putting up some banging shit over the last 10 years. That said, I only live 15 minutes away… and MM93 is GOAT. You should do the run throughs of the Enduro Hill WIld DH tracks that the FoD Night Riders have been maintaining. We dig most fridays on that hill.
Nice to see you and Kara on my local trails
Great vid tom 😄, i agree FOD is an awesome place to ride. I wish i lived a little closer, i would be there all the time 😁
Been riding FOD since the mid 90s. My best local track living in Oxfordshire. Like the fact it’s not succumbed to the paved bike park style that seems to be more popular nowadays.
FoD isn't the most popular trail centre in the UK what a load of 💩💩💩 Glentress is the most popular
You did more in 1 hr than I do all day !! I need to get out of the café 😊
That helmet is ugly asf
Even though I live near Cannock Chase. I do try to go to the FOD when ever I can.
great riding, as usual. Tom, do you think you could make those 70 footers they have at Rampage? You seemed to make that 50 footer (from a few videos ago) with steeze.
FOD is amazing, I haven't been for such a long time and for an hour or so away from me, I need to get my arse over there for some and rock training!! NB, just left of launchpad down on the fire road is Wormhole. Unofficial trail but you'd love it 😊
The FOD is my ‘local’ although I live about an hour away. Love it so much, I’m intending to move there 😊
I wonder if the guy you were manualling behind will see this video and go "wait a minute, I had Tom Cardy manualling behind me down a trail? That's so cool!" Yep that would pretty much make my day. That was definitely an impressive power hour Tom. 😎👍
