I’m reviewing all the weird bits of Wellington’s cycleway network! This one is a lovely scenic ride along the seaside suburb of Eastbourne. #wellingtonnz #cycleway #urbancycling #cycling

All right, suckaway afficionados. Today I’m out of downtown Wellington and instead exploring the route to Eastborne, which is a seaside suburb of Wellington. Getting here was mission enough. So, uh, make sure to like and subscribe for when I drop my Baton and State Highway 2 cycle way videos. Uh, but starting from Baton, we’re heading south towards Eastborne. And I know what you’re thinking. Where’s the for cycleway Jeffrey? Well, that’s kind of a point because for good chunks of this route, they just give up and let you play in traffic. So, safety. Sure, I’ve got some upcoming dedicated off-road sections, but I’ve had tight corners, close passes, and riding amongst stop starts traffic. None of this is safe. I’m giving it a four out of 10 at best. This is the prime reason why I don’t like shared ways. It’s just inevitable that everyone ends up filling it as wide as possible. many pedestrians as possible. Thank you. It is a weird junk position where in one spot you go super fast on the road sections to avoid being cleaned up by cars, but then you have to slow right down to the shared ways. All right. I’d say overall it’s average. Six out of 10. Is that a whole rock on the road? Jesus Christ. Imagine hitting that in the dark. Was it useful? Well, this section’s amazing, but quite often you just get dumped back onto the road. Base in point, boom, suddenly runs out. Surprise. So, I’ll give it a five out of 10 for usefulness. Building for money. I think this I guess it’s actually quite high because they’re getting a seaw wall, which they desperately need for this coastline out of building this. So, I’d say probably 10 out of 10, but as a cyclist, it’s not particularly useful until they finish it. All up 25 out of 40. The rout’s not good enough to give any extra points, but damn, can we just call that how scenic this route is? Let alone if you continue beyond the end of the gravel section, you have this amazing gravel coastline that you can ride. And I actually cover this in one of my longer form videos on my YouTube channel. So, if you’re interested in a longer form gravel ride vlog, please do check it out. And uh if you like it, subscribe and I’ll publish more of these
