Today I’m at the biggest house in the UK at Wentwolf Woodhouse in Rotherham and they’ve got a classic car, a motorcycle show here. Let’s go check it out. So, as you can see, there is absolutely hundreds of cars here today, but we’re predominantly here just to see the motorcycles, and there’s a there’s a fair few pulling up now. So, uh, let’s go check them out. to 1959 and then we after that section and Peter will be doing the judging here. Thank you. Right. Where are we going to start? I think we should start with this Yamaha RD 350R. I think you’re probably correct because it’s just here and uh yeah, nice bike. Let’s uh let’s check out the the miles on it. How you doing, buddy? My friend, you don’t know me, but I’ve been following you. Okay, cool. Going on this. Oh, you know what? Spot your way in. We’re just about to film this. We thought I just said to Amy, where where should we start? And Brazilian on this. I don’t know if you know much about these. Well, I know it’s got the R on there. So what what’s if my history is correct, don’t quote me on the exact years, but uh this is a Brazilian built one. Okay. Apparently Japan stopped making them. It must mean is it missions or something back in about 86. It’s probably where it started from what I’ve read. Could be wrong. Correct me. Brazil bought all the toolings, the parts, etc., etc., and then started building these. But it’s not an import. It actually hit the the British shroom. Okay. But the big difference between this one and other F1 and F2 models, it’s all enclosed, different color scheme. It’s got twin headlamps. Yeah, that’s right. I mean, I don’t recognize No, if I’m being honest, I like to see the engine. Yeah. Yeah. But I’m not complaining. It’s a lovely bike. Yeah. Just rebuilt the engine about 150 mi ago. Well, was there a problem with it or uh big end of gone? I mean, it’s bellowing smoke out now because I’ve got two-stroke oil in there as well. Yeah. Yeah. But I’d rather get this smoking. But it’s a nice bike. Well, I was just saying it’s great to see him back on the road, is it? It’s nice. 18,000 miles on the clock. It looks in great condition. It’s It’s not been fully restored. It’s got a bit of patina. Yeah. And how’s it how’s it running now? You rebuilt the engine. Uh, well, I’m still sort of running it in, but uh it’s it’s a 350 power valve. You know, it just brings back the memory. Oh, it does for me. Just does just for me. You know, you always regret selling your first proper bike, don’t you? Yeah. Lovely to meet you. Okay, keep up the good work, guys. Cheers, brother. So, next to the 350, we’ve also got the RD250. And again, another fantastic looking bike. No sat nav required on this one. He’s just rode down the road and stuck him to the top of the tank. It’s quite funny that is. And here’s a here’s another bike that uh brings back a few memories as well for me cuz I had an R six back in the early days as well. And uh after the 350, this was probably my first proper sports bike. Phenomenal at the time. And these ones, they had the really the big chunky cannon, which is a original, the white dials. Did them in the red and the blue, especially if you’re How about for this for a bit of comfort? Amy B photograph images of these vehicles in the arena. You’re welcome to come in and take some. Yeah, you would be asleep. I’d be asleep, I reckon, as well. I mean, look at the size of the front of the bike. It’s just absolutely massive. But that does look comfortable, doesn’t it? We’ve even got like armrests for the pillion. Look at all these uh these dials as well. Looks in great condition, doesn’t it? It’s an RG. What’s an R? That’s about 98. There we go. 1998. And this is the uh the Banttom Sport. April 683 £3.15 there tax. And what year was that? Oh, 68. 1968 £3.15. God, it’s a bit pricey back then, weren’t it? Look at that for basic controls. It’s a man with a wicker basket. I thought the posters have to work on the Sundays now. I’m guessing it’s your bike. It is. Yeah. It’s a 1972. Okay. What size engines in it? 175. 175. Same size. Oh, okay. Same engine. Yeah. Are they number five or is it just is that the size of the wheel? No, I just think maybe that’s the post number. What’s the 18 on the side? What’s Oh, is it okay? Tire pressure. 22. Oh, yeah. 22 on the back. Does it run all right? Rode it here. It does. Yeah. Yeah. Go. Great. Yeah. That’s wonderful. Yeah. It certainly stands out because it were belonged to Crown. You didn’t have to pay road tax. All right. I just Yeah, we noticed that on this one. That one’s got Otherwise, it would have cost you£3 pound50. That’s right. The These were free. These were exempt because it were owned. All right. It were owned by Queen on Queen’s Highway, so she couldn’t see relevance to paying on her own roads. Sounds like a tax scam to me, but whatever. They used to put the little signing saying tax in post. That’s right. Origin label the same color. Love the cat. Get Jess the cat. Do you get the cat in with the bike as well over here? Look, we’ve uh we’ve got the Dot Motorcycle Club and three of them. 200. I don’t know a lot about the Dot motorcycles, but I know they’ve recently bought some out. I’ve seen them at the shows and they do look pretty special. But so do these. I mean, that one there is just absolute mint. 1958 197. What do we know about this bike, Amy B? So, they only made 130 of them. There’s only about 15 of them left. Um, this one was bought at the Stafford auction in 2023. It had been in the Island Man Museum for 20 years. Um, and then it’s been rebuilt and done only six miles since 2000. Yeah. And that’s why it’s that’s why it’s looking so immaculate. The tank on it is just beautiful. Luke and the And these were obviously Greater Manchester British built bikes. Yeah. I love the I love the clocks on them as well. Yeah. And the controls are just well there’s just nothing there. They’re so basic. Kick start on the right. Yeah. I mean I’ve not started this for about 6 months and I came earlier and gave me the kick and it started instantly. So where where’s the gears then? This side. The gears are on the right side. It’s only three speed. Right. Okay. So kick start on the right. Gears are on the right. And they just like So you’re not you’re not using you’re using a clutch as well. So they just just step step through gears like pick up one. Okay. And this and this is obviously just a trials bike. Volkswagen. Have you ridden it off road? Oh yeah. I’ve ridden trials for a long time, but it’s one of the most competitive like what they call it sort of classic 365 bikes that you can get. So yeah, the gentleman there was just saying this is one of the last bikes to come out the factory from 1978. Well, and then they went out of business. Is that what happened? They stopped making bikes. Yeah, they started making bits and pieces and dampers, right? But I guess I guess they’re quite easy to work on. Yeah. Yes. I can take a village engine to bits and put it back together fairly easily. Yeah. That’s the beauty of the old stuff, is it? Really? Yeah. Well, that’s great. Thank you. Yeah. All you want. Cheers. That’s what it does. Original tool kit. See if you got a big enough seat on it. It’s going to the VW. They’re even bigger on the silver wings. A scooter. What year is this one then? 2005. Come and collect your platform. 2015 10 year old. Right. 25,000 miles. One owner. That’s me. You’ve had it from new. Yeah. I put every scratch on it. So I look after it mechanically. Yeah. More than cosmetically. Yeah. Change the filters, change the oil, change the pads, get tires, all that. But I just enjoy it. I took it abroad and it’s nowhere it won’t go. Climb any mountain, anybody on the back. That’s it. Don’t make no difference. Some people would be a bit put off by the size of these things, wouldn’t they? But but it’s quite versatile. Lovely. I mean, it’s got some buttons and some controls and all in it. Yeah. I don’t have to work off of them. It’s all radio. All right. Well, that’s radio, is it? You got earphones on. Oh, yeah. So, I noticed you got your speakers there. All the Yanks put those uh Bang Olson upgraded speakers in them and all this like more for more bass. But not much wrong with that. Like a mobile disco. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe I’m coming home. Cheers, buddy. Right, let’s move along. See what else we can see. The lightweight that time forgot. It’s a 58 250cc. We got the uh the set here. I love the uh the big exhaust on the set. There we go. We don’t see that very often either. Made in England. Avenue Mercedes. Got springs. That is a front and rear. I reckon you’d be all right on this one, Amy. We got spring loaded rear pillion seat. Those bumps in them. We’ve got even the suspension on the front there. It’s all done off this uh this spring. Is this yours? Is it? That’s a nice one, is it? What year is this? 1938. 38. Wow. Are they pretty reliable? No. Why? What’s What happens? I’m getting too old. We can’t start it up. Do they take a bit of kicking up? Do they a lot of kicking up? Do they? Is there like There’s always a method to bikes ain’t there? Is there Have you got your technique? And well, I’ve got a bad hip as well. Right. Have to employ somebody to start them up. Yeah. But once they’re running, they’re good to go at once you get them warm. Suspension and all that. Is it pretty? It’s not going to book you out the seat. I mean the springs are quite odd but um it’s a rigid back end right on the bike. So of course yeah on today’s roads not the best full of holes. Yeah. Yeah. You hit a pole you know about it. If you hit a pothole on these you know about it but I noticed you got a single spring on the front there. Yeah. Spring of for right so it just pivots on on these arms. Okay. Yeah. Spring up now, which is was all right. In 1938, well, I guess in 1930 that was the bee’s knees, weren’t it? It’s what what they had. Don’t know. That’s beautiful. Yeah. Cheers for the info. Thank you. You’ll squeeze through there. Okay. So, what have we got here? We’ve got the Honda CB 750K. Again, looks in very nice condition. Total of uh 16,000 miles on the clock. Big lump of an engine. It’s got things like twin discs as well. Hello. What was Amy doing? We haven’t got time for ice creams. Right. Look at this BSA. It’s certainly been put to some use. It’s not the prettiest thing today, but um it’s obviously got itself here. That’s right. It’s got all the got all the wiring hanging out and tape everywhere. Thank you very very much. Bit of tape just holding things on. Should you need any Is this yours? Yeah, the other side’s the better side cuz you got the gear. Let’s have a look. Let’s have a look. It’s great to have your friends and family say you driving an exotic vehicle like this. What year is this one? 1959. 59. 66 years old. Wow. So, yeah, it looks superb. Thank you. It’s only done about 8,000. Is that right? 8,000 miles. Yeah. Since it’s been restored. Since it’s been restored. How much did it cost to restore it? Uh, over the two years about six six and a half thousand. Yeah. Yeah. The most expensive the tank because you have to have the tank fully chrome, right? And then they grind it back here and then they paint it the color you want and then they put the stripe down it. I’ve not seen this color before. Is this a color you’ve chosen or is this No, this was a color it is. This was a color for the American market, right? BSA made because they had the fancy colors in the 50s, the cars and that. BSA fetch this out. There was only a few hundred made and then they did this and then original color is like a grass green, right? And I didn’t like that. Okay. I wanted something I’ve never seen this color before. I wanted something to match the chrome. It’s usually starts first to second kick. Not very fast. It vibrates a lot. It drips a little bit of oil, but I love it to death. It’s all part of the character, ain’t it? Cheers, buddy. That’s great. Thank you. Got the Kawazaki boys here with triple pipes. Two 250s here. Follows a lot of the again. Look at the condition of these. Beautiful. Beautiful. I’m guessing this is the new one because it’s got the disc on the front whereas the other one he’s got the drum brakes. The other one’s got higher handlebars. I continue the build. It’s never ending. The pipes are different on this one. So that drum brake on the rear these things. Is this yours? Is it? No. But yeah, I had that very bike in 72. Okay. And so that registration and that that rear light that would have been a KH250 PGC. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. What year would that have been then? That would have been 76. Slightly later. So, I noticed one’s got a disc and one’s got a drum, but I was just trying to That would That would have been a KH250. The KH250. That was the original. They That was the original colors. So, I’m guessing these these these are aftermarket pipes on this one. All speed. They would have been them. Yeah. Yeah, that’s what I thought. These have been put on. It would have come to them, but we all changed them for Vincent flats cuz if you had them on and you dropped the clutch, you were flipped over the back. Oh, really? Oh, no, no, no. That would wheelie without even trying. If if you set off with too many revs on, you were wheeling. Really? There must have been a few accidents back in the 70s. That’s You know how it started life? The engines were starter motors for airplanes. Oh, okay. That’s interesting. Yeah. Yeah. They fired them up to start turbo prop engines. That’s right. Yeah. Never knew that. Vehicles manufacturers here. Look. Look at the paintwork on this one. So, it’s almost 1900 to 1959. Let’s play that one. 1900 to 19 633 squadron. So, we say goodbye to this great section. Detail on that. Absolutely fabulous section. The Kawazaki KH400. Let’s have a wonder down here. Oh, yes. Look at this. Norton. Wow. That is just phenomenal. Look at the brakes on this. You even got like bit like an air duct for the probably for the cooling. Could be 1920. Could be 1930s. for saying that this day was a little bit unplanned for us. It’s not a bad turnout really, but the weather’s been uh kind to us today. Uh there’s a few scooter guys that have just pulled up behind us as well. And I believe you can just come and go as you please. Uh it’s not like a a show that they’re giving out kind of rosettes for the for the bikes, I think. Oh, they are they are Oh, Amy just said they are. So, um but yeah, I think there’s definitely one or two bikes there that just look absolutely fantastic. So, yeah, I’ll just quickly show you some of these scooters now that the man on the Tano is uh gone for lunch. He was getting a bit loud. And uh yeah, I’m always amazed by like you say the some of the paintwork on some of these scoots as well. Even the one at the end, it’s uh obviously is it designed to look old but isn’t? I think it probably is old this one. Exactly the way you came in. Do you think that’s his bike? I don’t know really. I would just grab a photo of the you know popped. I never know what it is. Is this your bike? Is it or No, no. I just I just saw your your army gear on and I thought I just put two and two together. I’m just stereotyping. I’ve got a trike right in the top right hand corner. Oh, have you? Oh, okay. I might go and take a look. You should have brought it over here. So, well, I don’t really know much about this bike, so haven’t got a lot to tell you. It’s a 350. Says it on the tank. I think it might be have something to do with the Red Cross. This is the 500. This is the triple. The gentleman back there was just saying if you thought the 250s were a bit nuts, then these were just completely bonkers. Oh, the army’s just turned up. We’ve got like an AK-47 or something hanging off that one. Oh, we’re expecting trouble. How did he get in that? Have to get out through the roof. Yeah, there’s some fabulous cars here as well. I mean, there’s too many to take them all in. We’re here to see the bikes today. But um but yeah, great great venue for it. Last gentleman I just spoke to just said there’s a lot more bikes here than last year. I don’t know how many here, but what you can see here is what’s here. We’ve got the the Honda CVX. These are the huge sixcylinder engine. Just by find it unbelievable how small the forks were back in the day from the weight of the bike. Wonder what it was like to ride. How long you have the Suzuki? Let’s go and have a look at your Suzuki. See you later. Let’s go and have a look. Exactly. Same. Same color and everything. Saw this. They’re out there 600 quid. I were a wreck. How much were the new? Um, that’s got to go back to the Okay, £670 for one in 1978. Brand new. Brand new. Exactly like everything. And what they worth now? Wentworth House. The locals know it as four, five grand. For some reason, Suzuki don’t as much money as like the Kawazakis. Kawazakis and Yamas. Yeah. Over 300. Have you put the pipes on? Size of Buckingham Palace. I put them on this year. I’ve got originals show. Just sound nicer with these on. Yeah, hopefully. And what year was this, you say? 77. 77. I noticed it’s got a single disc on the front. So, and they only just introduced the discs by about then discs coming includ. Yeah. Should know this bike a little bit. Race one in the popping. This one is just mint though. really is. I like the gray color. I think they made something like 50 million back in the day. It’s a blast from the past. It is. Everybody had them for going to work on bit and then then they were knackered all young. That’s no good. They used to take them up bit stack and ruin because it’s identical. Same color, same year, same model, same set. That’s beautiful. That is burn. That’s a color indeed for being with color. Very rare. And again, it’s called elephant gray. My dad My dad had a C C70 red and white. Well, the 70 really were with a a better thing, but they sold more ‘ 90s because people used to all sorts up on them. Even today in Vietnam, you’ll have a family go out for the Blackpool with that dozen on them Saturday. What What year is this one? 72. 72 taxdeed. And what was the how much was the tax 72 model the BG2? You were into £720. But you just got into decimalization. I think it came in in early 7172. Oh, only about from the past. Yeah. Yeah. No, they’re always great to see. So, we got this Yamaha Audi 390 gentleman’s bike, but he’s hiding away. He’s gone all shy on us. So, how long you had it? Five weeks. Five weeks. I had it five weeks. Yeah. So, where’d you get it from? Um, Robert, we had one of them. But they they you saying you done a bit of work to this. It was a cracking car. Yeah. Yeah, that’s right. I um I bought it in 20 back in circulation 2020 and um there was horrendous oil leak on the engine. You couldn’t ride it. Tires were perished. It had been part of a collection, right? So I instantly knew the engine was going to have to come right down. So it’s had a stripped down full rebuild. So when we done this section when the gearbox came out at the same time and then from back then it cost much to get it done. Great repertoire music. Can we put this on camera? The wife finding out scrap of paper actually. Yeah. Um but I ended up I committed to then to take it from front to back. Yeah. You’ve got it. Diversity. So what what year is this one? 58. What year is this one? That’s a 58. So, they’re both 58. There’s some slight difference. I noticed the clocks are different as well. Kind of like the clocks are the same, but they just spin. I think those have just been cocked up uh into more of a road. At the moment, I’m running a mucuni carburetor on that. Fuel simply, it ticks over. Whereas with the GP on they don’t. You saying earlier you’ve got to you’ve got to be on the throttle all the time. that one standard GP cam which were just a racing cam. No pressure, guys. Oh, you got perfect. These two gentlemen are going to show us how easy it is to kick. Oh. Yeah. Like a modern replica of the older Lambert. It’s 2020. prepared. So, at the minute we’ve got this, we’ve got just in the planning stage. Now, we normally say up to 15 years old, but um but let’s have them as many motorcycles as we can in the arena. Choose a runner up and a winner and we will present the trophies all in one go. He’s saving petrol. Who’s your money on? Come on. Blue one or the green one? The Norton or the BSI? Well, the Norton. You’re going for the Norton. Thank you very much indeed. Hold on, Mark. Thank you. Thanks very much. Right, I hope you’ve enjoyed our little walk around the classic car and bike show in Rotherham. We’ve had a fantastic time. I hope you have too. And don’t forget, if you ain’t subscribe to the channel, please do so. Give us a like and we’ll see you in the next one.
