Hello! Cross post since MTB page doesn’t allow pictures unless you’re on your bike 😑 anyways!
I just recently entered the MTB world after trading in all my BMX stuff to my local shop. Lately my riding has gravitated towards more trails and off road riding and less skatepark/pump track. I did enjoy riding my bmx bikes on trails but man that single speed and rigid fork made every muscle in my body sore. It was a tough decision to part ways with my bmx stuff but I couldn’t be happier I did.
With GT on the decline, that opened up the opportunity to get into a decent bike for not much on my end. So after shopping around a little I found this GT Zaskar LT listed for 1k. Stopped in the local shop to ride it around and I knew right away it had to come home with me! I was blown away with how refined it felt compared to my MTB when I was a teenager. So after some evaluation of my trade ins I got the bike.
First trail ride was blissful! Wheels and tires feel solid and connected. The fork is great imo however many say the Rockshock 35 is pretty meh. I guess we will see how it holds up and performs but so far no complaints there. I thought that the dropper post was “a gimmick” and is just added flair but I’m now certain I don’t think I’d ride without one. Gear changes are quick and smooth but a little noisy under heavy load. This bike definitely feels like it’s meant to be ridden right outta the box without needing much in terms of upgrades. However, I am a man and can’t seem to leave anything stock… so I redesigned some decals on my vinyl cutter to change the colorway a bit. At some point I’ll be looking for a better drivetrain, something with shorter crank arms 155-160mm, and some carbon bars. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
I also couldn’t quite rid myself of the bmx feel so I scoop up a LaBomba Pro too 🤙🤭 pictured 3rd
The last 2 pics are the bikes I traded in. Custom build subrosa 21tt, and a 2023 kink drifter 26inch
