Robbie Williams new biopic better man is doing the rounds in global Cinemas portraying the singer as a CGI monkey and telling the story of his life it’s an idea that’s divided opinion but one that’s largely been put to rest once the film’s been seen with some absolutely glistening reviews but we’re not here to talk about the film that’s something you’ve got to see for yourself what we are going to be doing is traveling to stoke on Trent the home of Robbie Williams to watch his Boyhood Club Port Vil as they take on rexam in tonight’s efl trophy but the excitement doesn’t stop there as we’ll be watching it from the Robbie Williams Suite named after the pop star from when he performed a homecoming show at the ground will’ll be visiting tonight like a lot of menopause or Ms Robbie Williams music means a lot to me and he’s someone that I really look up to I’ve already been to see him live I’ve seen his film twice already I’ve sung his songs at karaoke and in my teenage years I even learned to take that dance routines I [ __ ] wish that that was a joke obviously I’m a fan of his music but on top of that I think when I was growing up about 15 or 16 he was a first real sort of male celebrity or role model whatever you want to call a figure like that who I saw sing and talk so openly about all these feelings of feeling alone or scared or vulnerable and when you’re in those formative years about to enter the real world it’s a real concoction of emotions and his music has bought me some real comfort in some darker times in my life and still continues to do so if and when they occur on top of that he’s got some bangers and to be honest he seems just like a pretty cool guy he is however a character that divides opinion both musically and what he’s like as a person with plenty of people thinking the same as me and plenty of people thinking he’s a bit of a knob which brings me on to his involvement in Port Vale obviously being the club President also investing a hefty sum of money into the club what do you port Vale fans think about that is it a case if you’re proud to see a local boy doing so well and flying the flag for Port Vil even a or is it more so the case if you think stop messing around with a club unless you’re going to do something a bit more substantial I genuinely want to know so get those in the comments before we go any further I’ve been doing my research on Robbie Williams and apparently found out that he loves oat cakes which makes sense cuz we’re in Staffordshire but more specifically this oat cake shop in particular is his favorite so we’re in Staffordshire it’s a Staffordshire thing if it’s good enough for Robbie it’s good enough for me I haven’t eaten anything today so we’re going to try ourselves an oat cake see what it’s like let’s get in there let’s give it a go unfortunately for me they were closed with seemingly a refit going on meaning no oat cake for me and that ship has unfortunately sailed or has it I’ve just found that there’s an oat cake shop 14 minutes away that closes in 20 so I think I’m the most desperate man in Great Britain at the moment for a bloody oat cake but when you’re here what you got to do so I’m going to shut up and get there cuz I’ve already wasted 20 seconds and just like that I hit the road and parked a nearby SSB and I knew that I had no time to waste ladies and gents we got ourselves about 5 minutes until this place closes just like that the end was in sight but no they’re closed and that of course meant that the dream was over the backup plan had failed and I was feeling sorry for myself I’m absolutely Devo by that what a let down what a let down closed early as well um I don’t really know what to do now so I took a seat looked for some inspiration until finally I had a plan I hit the road once again with one last chance ladies and gents I found somewhere that might just do oat cakes it’s called right pies it’s just up the road somewhere it’s last chance I was tense I knew what was riding on this as I walked up to the cashier and I asked her that fateful question hi did you guys do o cakes here you could practically hear the fear in my voice but all that mattered was what she was about to say next you guys do your o cakes here hang on get a v check on that now finally this ordeal was over and we have ourselves an oat cake to try ladies and gentlemen thanks to the people at rights I was over the moon you don’t know how long I’ve been looking for an I don’t think it’ be so hard to find I have a bacon and cheese on yeah do come and Che okay yes I do fine thank you very much ladies and gents we we’ve done it absolute Legend at rights who knew that it would be so hard to get a bloody oat cake but we’ve done it we’ve got two and they’re currently burning my hand I cannot put into words how excited I am to try this oat cake we got two I was struggling to find one and I’ve Come Away with two absolute result I’ve not eaten all day specifically so I could have this as like a brunch thing it’s now about 4:00 and uh it’s a very late lunch let’s have a quick look at that I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be as soggy as they look but I don’t know at this point I’m grateful for whatever I get there’s a lot riding on this cuz apparently this is supposed to be the Staffordshire answer to Cornish pasties I think I read online somewhere so I’m going to shut up I’m going to try it cuz that’s what everyone’s obviously waiting for [ __ ] hell it’s chewy do you know what that’s lovely that is really really nice not I don’t really know what I was expecting to be F I expected more sort of pancakey type taste weirdly enough it tastes more oy but that’s lovely well worth the way and best part is I got another one to tuck into as well absolute result [Music] oh yes not two shabs at all so ladies and gents we are at Robbie’s which is a lot more Robbie themed than I thought it was going to be it’s basically like a a footballing Haven for me right now you got a football pitch directly in front of us Robbie Williams stuff everywhere this is this is what dreams are made of as far as I’m concerned uh you may have also noticed a man to my left a familiar face you might say hello how are you and welcome to my Haven uh thank you very much uh very excited to be here in Robbie sweet still waiting for him to arrive uh if not him we’ll settle for Ryan Reynolds do you want to know what the really sad thing was there was actually part of me that was uh imagining what would happen if he just popped out halfway through what would I say and what would I do but uh you know I mean i’ say Ryan Ryan would be great but um yeah not like that come on come on this is hyra um weird game tonight isn’t it with the The Virtue trophy it’s been going around you said earlier longer than you’d expected it’s a weird trophy neither of us really know the rules we just know that it’s a knockout game we came here for Robbie I came here for Robbie and the rest is buns that’s a joke I don’t get is it oh buns is like extra oh okay I thought it was like a Robbie pun anyway what are your thoughts on the game tonight and school prediction if it’s not too early to say uh yeah as as we said it’s uh it’s a bit of a weird competition never been to a game in this competition before I suppose what I’m hoping for is uh being a a knockout match and I think they go through to the quarterfinals if they win tonight so I’m hoping there’s a good crowd I’m hoping uh the rexon fans turn out like they normally do so I’m hoping they’re interested if all that’s uh if all that goes to plan then I think we’re we’re in for a good night if it’s all equal time it goes to penalty on which note that’s what I think is going to happen I think it’s going to be a two2 draw and I think it’s going to go to penalties but I think rexon will go through sorry portale fans oo interesting stuff now do you know what nice and simple it’ be wrong of me to come here and not back the port Bale boys so I am going to go for a 2-1 win however I accept that the likelihood of this game is probably that it’s going to go Rex’s way but also we don’t know who they’re going to play if it’s going to be both sides B Teams cuz this isn’t a priority fix for any team so yeah very excited to see what happens what the game looks like and also who actually turns up cuz I don’t think that we’re going to have a fantastic turnout today fanswise I hope I’m proved wrong there’s at least 50 people in at the moment so you know it’s looking good perfectly valid point perfectly valid point yeah know it’s a nice little place that we we’ve got at the moment I’ll just put some bits and Bobs on screen now so you guys can see cuz it’s not really an environment where I can wander around and go oh look at that on the wall or oh look at these nice tables cuz I probably get a few looks as well as sounding like Zippy so um we got some food to get very shortly we just waiting for the queue to go down it’s looking like lasagna so not going to say no to that are we no love a bit of lasna especially my own knew you’re going to say that let’s go get some lovely view out the window of the pitch where we’re going to be tonight and we will be sat on one of these seats somewhere along here very nice and cozy grab is up and you just couldn’t help yourself could you I’m hungry is it good very nice very nice there’s only one way to find out wouldn’t exactly say that we got lasagna going on it it’s more of a pie but uh not that I’m complaining start with a [Music] chip covered and gravy by the way absolutely golden if you don’t like chips and gravy sort your life up tucking in two said [Music] pie absolutely belting really nice two empty plates at the end of that tells you all you need to know good 7 out of 10 not bad at all both teams make their way onto the pitch tonight and uh a very empty Veil Park the only stand that’s been sold that believe it or not is a home fans your way fans over there and I haven’t got a Scooby what the [ __ ] that is I’m on the way ladies and gents [Music] oh Ling quick start 20 seconds in cour Bale a one n up [Music] wow we knew it’s going to be a bit of a weird game but I didn’t think it would quite get off to a start this week we got empty stands and uh a goal inside the first minute and it was Paul [Music] bals o [Music] on oh nice even better oh what a save [Applause] oh oh one one one hand it been coming on the other hand it’s it spoke some life into a game that’s otherwise been lacking any form of life really it’s been quite dull the odd chance here or there well taken from rexen [Music] though oh Grace save brilliant run from Ryan Longman and a finish just H TBL by The [Music] Keeper great fo him for the defender and that’s it’s halim ladies and gents scores are tied at 1-1 well ladies and gents it’s been a really really weird half if I’m going to be completely honest the lack of atmosphere in this stadium is so noticeable and so weird it’s like watching lock down football we’ve seen two goals but I wouldn’t say I’ve been blown away by the entertainment value of this match it’s not to say that it’s been poor but it’s not been great there’s not been a great deal of chances I think Ryan Longman on the wing for rexon has been very very good fun little fact about Ryan he I think went to the same College as me or at the very least he was at a school very close to me and we’re in the same year group so one’s on the pitch one’s off at filming and having a waffle so who’s done best I’ll let you Lads decide but it’s still all to play for in the second half ladies and gents we’ll see what my dad’s got to say but it’s uh yeah very odd first half of football if I’m being completely honest uh yeah I think it’s been um as you said not the most exciting game it’s not the best crowd we’ve ever seen but then I think in this competition that’s the danger of the competition don’t think you can uh criticize Port Vale for example for not turning out on M Rea brought about 4 or 500 which is probably a decent turnout from them till The Equalizer I did feel that Port Bale were the better team I felt that they were the ones that were actually putting in the effort and really uh looking like they wanted to win the game but since the equalizer I actually think that it sort of has the feeling that Rex them are going to turn it on a bit they’re the better footballing side that’s not to any detriment of Paul Val because I think actually they played pretty well themselves Rex with the better better footballing side and I expect to see them turn it on a bit more in the in the second half and maybe actually sneak it 21 even though I said it’s going to be 22 I like to be 22 I like to be penalties to finish off with but I think it’s going to be 21 Rex and know halftime Hospitality would not be complete without some pudding would it and speaking of which right on Q not too shabby at all very very nice back up for the second half and move to go it as it just after lightning start from Rex in the second half much like Port Vil in the first uphill battle for them [Music] now the ball [Music] a oh that’s [Applause] it it’s 3-1 Rex surely there’s to lose now [Music] I said the Rex and fans have woken up at 31 oh great save first real chance for portv other half it’s a brilliant save from The [Music] Keeper oh it’s far just under 10 minutes to go P Val fans starting to head home P one rexen [Music] four oh it’s bundled in but it’s offside Pell will get away with it further embarrassment [Music] [Applause] and that is fulltime ladies and gents it’s a poor poor result for portv but a brilliant one for rexam one n down early on and they’ve managed to bring it back paale obviously going to be disappointed rexam obviously going to be in Jubilation it’s been a weird weird night here at veale Park but at least there’ll be about 400 fans going home Happy credit to those Rex and fans who made that travel they start to make a bit of noise towards the end of the game as much as they can we are on the opposite side of the stadium to them but again credit to them for making that journey and hopefully they’ve had a great time as for Paul Val who only managed to sell out that one block down there not a great look appreciate it is a virtue cut it’s not a very exciting game to go and see but there were only 1,200 home fans here tonight including a lot of those that were in the hospitality with us tonight very very weird one we’ll get into it when we’re inside but it’s a very very weird game tonight in terms of the match it’s a bit of a weird one because for a 4-1 result it wasn’t really a spectacle at all and really it is down to lack of atmosphere as anything else rexam definitely better the side in the end as soon as they equalized they were the better side what I will say about Port Vale though is I think to be fair to them they didn’t give up they played right until the end but ultimately they were outclassed best thing about tonight to be fair I think was the hospitality I think uh as you can see right down here is really good it’s situated really well um inside it’s really nice you don’t get drinks as part of the hospitality but you get plenty of food and that was really nice and A really lovely atmosphere so well done to Port Vale and Robbie I suppose in terms of uh putting this all together so it makes it into a really nice a nice experience uh and actually relatively cheap as well when it comes to hospitality compared and and and the level that we’re at so overall I think if it wasn’t with hospitality it would be a bit of a dough night but because of the hospitality it’s uh made it a decent night and also well done to rexim and I think they’re going to go and win it if I’m honest yeah to be honest all that’s left for me really to talk about is the hospitality and it was really really nice like you said if it wasn’t for the hospitality it would have been a very Bleak evening because the lack of atmosphere you don’t realize it when you watch football just how important the fans are I think we first noticed it as I referenced earlier during lockdown but being at the game tonight it just was missing that flare and uh despite the fact that we saw five goals admittedly I missed one really missed the fans tonight but the hospitality absolutely made up for that it was £30 each I believe considering obviously it’s a cup tie so you got to bear that in mind if you’re hoping for a uh a ticket here for a League match it’s going to be more expensive we came here for the novelty of Robbie Williams I came here for the novelty of Robbie Williams cuz he’s my guy as we’ve already expressed and um yeah it’s got his name on it it’s got a few things on the wall but looking past that it was really nice very nice experience really well looked after by the people here lovely people as well that work here uh the food was lovely you know you can’t say fairer than that again for 30 quid absolute bargain so really enjoyed our time here based on that football left something to be desired but all in all ladies
