Following a road-related incident on the outskirts of Chelmsford in 2024, a coach driver took positive action to protect the children on board his coach after he was subject to “road rage”.
He was so concerned about the aggressive and dangerous driving behaviour of another motorist that he called Essex Police.
The driver of the car involved was given a suspended jail sentence for dangerous driving.

On 25 March 2024 Clint Hydes
drove his BMW recklessly
and aggressively in front of
a coach full of 80 children. The incident begins near
Chelmsford on the A130. Hydes brakes dangerously
in front of the coach. Concerned for the safety of his
passengers, the coach driver
leaves the A130… …but Hydes reverses
back along the carriageway
to follow. At a junction,
Hydes gets out of his car,
continuing his aggression
towards the coach driver. The coach driver
calls Essex Police
to report the incident. Officers locate Hydes,
and he is arrested. Hydes pleaded guilty
to dangerous driving. He was sentenced to
six month’s imprisonment,
suspended for a year.
