A few easy days avoiding the hills of Bulgaria. Super friendly people with a warm welcome. Beautiful farmland, a few interesting monuments, and an experience staying in a 7th floor apartment of a Soviet-era high-rise building – the lift was more unnerving than the stairs!

Hey look at that folks welcome to Romania,
see you later Bulgaria, here we go. Now we’re only going to be here for 3 or 4
days if things go to plan but, we’ll see what   Romania’s got to offer, let’s go and have
a look folks, Romania we’re coming for you! Hey well so far there’s not a lot to say, the
road’s a bit busy, a bit narrow, bit straight,   and a bit flat, not a lot else
happened yet, let’s keep going. Moment of faith, we’re out of water
there’s no shops but there is a pump. It looks quite a good new pump.
Let it run for a bit. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it’s got not a taste
to it, a sort of feel to it. Hi Tom. Hello. So we’re cycling through farmland
in Romania which is a little bit boring though   the people are really really friendly, we’ve got
free petrol for the stove which makes a difference   from Germany where they wouldn’t even let us have
any, and the kids are constantly high-fiving us,   and the farmer, we’re on his land he doesn’t
seem fussed. He’s just bringing the sheep along. Hey! Oh la la. He had a puncture. So today folks it’s voting day in
Romania, general election I think,   so the place is buzzing with life isn’t it Debs? Yeah they cancelled the last election so
hopefully this will go off smoothly. Yeah   and it’s nice and peaceful and I’m sorry
Serbia but Romania’s taken your crown for   the friendliest place in Europe cuz I’d
say like 80% wouldn’t you of people wave. Oh god it’s incredible. And that’s a lot of
waving because there’s a lot of people about,   but apart from that it’s pretty pretty
boring riding like the fields are flat but,   it has given us something rather
special Debs because today we have   ridden the total of 24,901 miles, do
you know what that means don’t you? I do I do I do yeah. We’ve been
around the circumference of the earth,   so we’ve ridden around the
world, can we go home now? Maybe not just yet. Not just
yet? Oh god sometimes though. Hey look at this then folks what is it Debs?
The Independence Monument at Silistioara. Let’s go and have a look. Something like that. Just had a day off in this lovely apartment in a
town called Turnu Măgurele or something I can’t   remember, but what we didn’t appreciate
when we booked the apartment was, Debs? Yeah it’s got very little lift. And
it’s on the seventh floor, ooh la la. I carried the bikes up seven flights of
stairs, and I’ve got to carry them down again,   but I think I’ve got the better end of the
bargain cuz wait till you see this lift. Debs is taking the running
the gauntlet of the lift. It’s kind of moves a bit when
you’re getting in and out of it. I hope to see my wife again but she’s
going to record a bit for posterity. Jesus. I love you Debs. Bye darling. Oh Christ
you kind of got to, well, it’s a bit tight,   and you’ve got to, shut the doors, there we
go, and I’m on P. Oh the lights gone off! It’s come back on. Ha ha ha, oh Jesus wept. So you don’t know, there’s nothing
to tell you you’re going down other   than the feeling of falling,
and yeah I’m calm, I’m calm. Thank you. Well I think you can hear it
go and then we’re just waiting for Tom. There he goes, or comes,
whichever you want to say. Oh, oh what a man. I tell you what, it’s slightly
easier carrying them down than it was carrying up. Oh good lad, and you’ve had a day’s rest. This is our routine, I hold the
bike and Tom pops the bags on. Thank you seventh floor apartment. Got a right
sweat on already, haven’t even started riding yet. Good job we’re going today though
cuz they’re digging up the road.   Yeah, We’d struggle to get over that
tomorrow. There we go, let’s go. As we head downhill to ferry number 30
that marks an end to our time in Romania. Only a few days and I’m sure the best riding
is up in the mountains of Transylvania,   but the people, that’s the takeaway we get
from Romania, the people are so friendly,   everybody waving shouting “Hola”,
and other things we don’t understand. So thanks Romania. Maybe. 2:30, yeah. We not, we
don’t know for sure, maybe later. But today, definitely today? Yes. That’s
good, that’s good. Okay. Thank you. Bye. Next stop Bulgaria folks, there
it is, see you in the next film.
