2025 Highlights from the Lincoln Grand Prix with action from both the Women’s and Men’s races.
The first Lincoln Grand Prix was held in the summer of 1956 and had attracted a strong entry. After 90 miles of racing Bob Eastwood from Huddersfield RC narrowly outsprinted former Tour of Britain winner Tony Hewson and local star Nev Crane.
The following year produced an even better Field, when Wilson Cycles Independent Ron Coe starting his 3 year domination of the event, beat super sprinter Dave Bedwell at the line. The same two riders where first and second the next year and Coe completed his hat-trick by beating Bill Bradley and Harry Reynolds in 1959. This race was marred by tragedy when local rider Roy Hart who had been in the leading group all day, came off the back, and hit a van when starting the last lap. The Roy Hart memorial trophy is still presented to the Grand Prix winner.

Well, hey folks. How you doing? It’s Richard here from Bike Packing Adventures. Today I’m in Lincoln for the Lincoln Rampir. It’s the women’s races first. I don’t know how long each lap takes, but uh it’s 9 till4 to 12 is the uh women’s race, so uh probably quite rapid. All very exciting. The first time I’ve done this. I don’t know why I get so excited cuz I could be out riding all day long. But yeah, getting into it. [Music] So folks, I’ve got a loose plan. Take choosing points around the roads in the oneway direction. Just a little bit here, a little bit there. By the time I get to the castle, we should be on the last and final lap. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Keep going. Push. Nearly there. Nearly there. Two more B. Two more B. [Music] Heat. Heat. That’s it. [Applause] Not bad. This air racing l enjoyed it. Makes a difference to riding bike all day. I just got back to the van. Uh it’s time for a bit of a sausage roll and I’m just going to do one complete circuit to the uh start line stroke finish line for the men’s uh race which is coming up in just a moment. Today I’m recovering the men’s national series sponsored by Rafa here in Lincoln for the Grand Prix right on top of the Whoa, that iconic climb up Michael Gates. Just been up it myself and did a sport here yesterday. It is really iconic climb. It It’s really something to uh you got to ride if you uh if you’ve never been to Lincoln, get yourself down here, do a few laps or just do a single lap, you know, explore the link countryside. It’s a great place to come. And uh as I always say, Lasher is not flat. Definitely not flat. Get yourself over to the walls. There’s plenty to explore. Heat up here. [Music] Woohoo! [Music] Wa! Heat up here. Come on. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Really? Look who I bumped into. Hey Casey, how you doing? Hi. I’m all right. How are you? Yeah, very well, thank you. See you here. You know what? There’s bikes, people socializing. Yeah, I thought I thought it was going to be something some exotic location, but here you are in this is exotic. Yeah, it feels exotic today. Like 25 something like that. Yeah. Also, so warm should be told me earlier was in Wales yesterday. Yeah, it was uh pretty hot. Yeah, pretty uh sweaty. Lots of hills, lots of climbing, lots of sheep. I haven’t seen that for a while. I didn’t see that. Yeah, it was nice. Good day. Excellent. Well, it’s nice seeing you out to the Lincoln Grand Prix. Yeah. How do you find the race? Yeah, I’ve been filming all day, so I’ve enjoyed actually. It’s my first time doing race. little brace. I mean, watch out like Steven. I think these I mean I’ll do it on my video, but like I think these events are really good. Obviously, it’s good to have crazy for the actual community as well, but I think it is the people that you see at these events. I guess like all the little kids watching and think it’s a really fun day out especially when the weather’s like everybody’s been out and it’s been absolutely fantastic. Yeah. Congratulations on [Applause] group and up. [Applause] around here by Well, it’s always a good surprise to bump into Katie. I met her a handful of times now. And uh yeah, she’s just as uh approachable in real life as you see on video. She’s so friendly and bubbly. And uh right now, I’ve just left Katy and headed down to uh Burton. Going to put the camera up. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] The atmosphere is buzzing here in Lincoln for the Grand Prix. Your fantastic end to the national series here in Lincoln. Hope you enjoyed this video. Comments down below. Did you attend the sport yesterday? Let me know. What a fantastic weekend of cycling.
