[Music] A fun and totally different way to see knees like a local. Hop on a bike. And who better to guide us than our cycling obsessed friends, Alex and Chris. They lead us through the city’s best photo spots, fuel us with coffee, take us up to secret lookouts, and there’s a refreshing craft beer at the finish line. We’re on ebikes so everyone can join the ride. It’s a sunny late April morning and Anna and I are meeting our guides Alex and Chris for a bike and beer tour at their favorite rental spot near the Negresco and the Promnad. Alex and Chris may be from Poland, but they live in Nice and lead fun tours around the Riviera capital and beyond. Alex hands us our helmets. No idea who looks dumber with them on. Luckily, I was listening to my husband. And Anna ducks into the back of the shop to swap her wide pants for jeans that actually work on a bike. This rental spot, Bike Trip, has every kind of two-wheeler, motorcycles, scooters, and regular bikes. But today, we’re rolling on ebikes. Okay, Anna. So, we’re going to start our bike and be gear tour uh with our ebikes. Uh it’s very important that you are, you know, comfortable like it’s good that you are dressed appropriately. So, uh I can see you have a right helmet. We’re all, you know, ready to go. And the ebikes actually are the bikes that are very easy to use. It’s very intuitive. So, you don’t have to be like in a super shape. They are basically like I mean, you still have to pedal, of course, but it will be uh kind of it will adapt to your rhythm. [Music] Perfect. Okay, guys. Ready to ride? Let’s go. Almost. Just need to stash our stuff first. Good thing these ebikes come with attached bags that hold our luggage, plus a lock and repair kit. Then, Alex walks us through powering up the motor. To get the bike on, first we have a button here. and explains that you’ve got five levels of assistance as well as gears 1 through eight. The steeper the hill, the lower the gear, just like a regular bike. With that, we’re finally ready to roll. First stop, right down the road at the iconic hotel in Aresco. It’s the perfect Riviera backdrop for a group photo, isn’t it? [Music] And we’re off again. The Pomnand is the perfect place to get a feel for the ebike motor and gears. There’s a cycle path the whole way, but stay alert. Some riders really speed and pedestrians by the seat don’t always notice the bike lane. Just take it easy and watch your back. [Music] Next up, the famous I love knee statue at the end of the prominad right before the port. Mandatory photo [Music] break. That’s why they move the sign. Looks like Christmas, huh? [Music] We’ve got a beer tasting date at a local brewery in 2 hours. So, we better get moving again. First, we cycle around Nisa’s beautiful port for a pit stop at a very special spot. [Music] It’s a cafe, right? Yeah. You You It’s your first time? Yes. Welcome to Cafe, part bike shop. They even have their own cycling apparel line and part cafe where everyone’s welcome for coffee and a sweet treat. [Music] As we refuel with coffee, we learned they host cappuccino rides every Saturday. Roughly 60 kilometer group rides open to all. Want to explore Nie’s Mountain Hinderland by bike? This is your chance. Of course, you can also rent a suitable bike right here. Time to hit the road again. [Laughter] We’re still in the port, so don’t be surprised if you have to do a double take on that mega yacht, which looks almost like another house. A little farther on, we roll past the plo, the restaurant and bar that’s constantly all over social media, thanks to its jaw-dropping purge over the sea. Up ahead is Momb where Alex points out some eye-catching villas, one of them once owned by Shan Connory. See that exotic red one? That’s the Chatur de Long, the English man’s castle built in the mid-9th century for British Colonel Robert Smith. Once we leave the port area behind, the road really starts to climb. And suddenly, we’re very glad we rented ebikes. Anna and I aren’t used to bike rides, but the next day, our behinds only ache a tiny bit thanks to these comfy ebike seats. No padded shorts required. You can even ride in sandals when it’s scorching. Just skip the flip-flops, Alex warns. For going downhill, definitely wear sunglasses, though. Really, you should always have them on when you’re in the French Riviera. Meanwhile, the higher we climb, the wilder the views [Music] [Applause] [Music] become. The peninsula to our right is Capira, by the way. Just arrived at Mo, the top of Moro. And it was a piece of cake actually to get up here with these bikes. Now it’s time to enjoy the views. Look over there on the far right. That’s Tetto. Happy we have such a perfect weather. Just take the bikes. Back on the bikes. And believe it or not, the views only get better. But first, we roll past Castell Montb. Behind that gate house, Alex says, lies Elton John’s hidden villa. And a little farther up the road, we pull over at our next lookout. Same panorama we saw before, but this time from a new angle. Below us lies perhaps the Riviera’s most beautiful bay, Lar de VR with a charming town of VR nestled on its shore. Selfie [Music] time. And another few for good measure. You could easily linger here soaking up the views and exploring the 16th century fort that once stood on the border between the states of Nice and Seavoi. But we need to head back toward Nice for a brewery date after one more epic lookout. This final spot faces straight back at Nice. [Music] If you’ve been with us before, you might recognize this spot. But even we can’t get enough of it. The sweeping view over Nice, Castle Hill, the entire Bizange, and the mountains beyond Nice is unbeatable. Time for more selfies. [Music] And now, and now it’s only downhill and we go straight to the brewery to do some beer tasting. And away we go, pedalling toward that cold reward, waiting at the finish line. Once we hit the main road back to Nice, the bike lane returns and we coast down toward the sea. At street level, we reach a busy crossroads. But no worries, Alex and Chris have us covered in all this city traffic. Now we’re circling back to the port, approaching from the other side, and making our way toward [Music] Plasgari. This beautiful stretch of road leads us right into the [Music] square. Now we just ride Anderam Mak, the museum of modern and contemporary art that’s closed for innovation. cross the next road. And here we are at Cavier Alops. Alex had reserved us a spot to cap off our tour with beer tasting in this cozy neighborhood pub just outside Nie’s Oldtown. We’re greeted by Daniel and Julie, an American couple who’ve lived in the south of France for years. 10 years ago, they completely changed careers to become beer brewers right here in Nice. Their charming pub, Aliops, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 to 9:00 p.m. They say their crowd is a fun mix of locals and internationals from around the world. We grab delicious sandwiches from across the street to line our stomachs before Daniel joins us. He explains all about his micro brewery, Brasi Blue, and how he brought creative craft beer to a region that’s only recently been embracing brewing. Today, there are more than 20 micro breweries on the Gazour. And at Daniel and Julie’s shop, you can pick up many of their beers alongside international [Music] favorites as well, the head. And then you want to be able to smell it as well. Daniel brews four different beers right in the back of the pub. And now we finally get to taste a few. We kick off our tasting sensory experience much like a wine flight with a wheat beer. Perfect for beginners or anyone who doesn’t usually go for beer. There’s the taste, you know, on the on the entry when it touches your tongue. [Music] For our final sip, we dive into an IPA, the boldest of the three, both in flavor and alcohol content. Anna and I are hooked. We each grab a couple of bottles of Danielle’s beer to take home before it’s time to say goodbye to the best tour guides ever. And if you’re curious where today’s 15 km adventure took us, here’s a little map to give you an idea. We hope you enjoyed riding along with us. That looks so much fun . We always walk when exploring as my adult daughter who travels with us is unable to ride a bike due to her disability . She loves walking though which is great too … and any other mode of transport .
Fantastic 👍
Super video…It’s great that they chose to go for the iconic les vélos bleus colors pony and lime replacements have in my opinion, devalued the heritage… could you imagine if the chairs were purple.. wouldn’t work… anyways, that’s my rant for today sorry😂😂😂

Watching from Utah USA. What a wonderful bike trip. Looks so much fun.
Watching from Florida, USA. Beautiful tour of Nice. The streets of Nice are so busy, so we prefer to explore by foot. I am afraid of getting into an accident in traffic or hurting a pedestrian. Great video ladies. Thank you!
