The prominade deagle is a historic seaside path that stretches approximately 4.35 mi along the beautiful Bay Deanes. This iconic prominade was originally designed to provide a safe and level path for British aristocrats who sought refuge in nice during the mild winters of the early 19th century. The story of the prominade begins in the 18th and 19th centuries when nice became a popular destination for wealthy British visitors. These travelers were drawn to the area’s pleasant climate and scenic views. However, the absence of a proper walkway prompted Reverend Lewis Wei, an English clergyman, to take action. He organized fundraising efforts to support the construction of the prominade. By the year 1823, he had raised 2,478 Franks from generous donors, allowing work to commence in December of that year. Nearly 300 local workers were employed on this project, which also helped alleviate unemployment in the area. The prominade was completed in 1824 and was initially named Cami angles or English way by the local residents. After Nice became part of France in 1860, it was officially renamed Proomenade de Augla. Today this walkway is not just a historical landmark but also a vibrant part of daily life in Nice.
